i need help finding a movie maker for mac. I tried using iMovieHD but it kept blowing the file sizes out of proportion. I had thegreatkazoo record replays for me (thanks :D)
and the file size is 189.5 mb. but when i put it in iMovie (set to keep the quality) the file size explodes to over 1.1 gigs

And if i set it to MPEG output, the file size shrinks to about 28.3 mb, and the quality becomes ruined.

So my question is this: Is there a video maker i can use that

1.Won't change the file size or at least reduce the file size and not obliterate the quality
or
2. Keep the same quality and not explode the file size

thanks in advance :D

I use Avid Media Composer, and I've never had this problem...but then again, Avid is expensive.

I haven't heard of this problem before in cheaper software like Final Cut Pro, Adobe Premier, and Sony Vegas. Not sure how much they cost nowadays, but they're definitely less expensive than Avid.

It should be available for both Mac and Windows.

Guess who's back? Allow me to answer.

First off, you're welcome. ;)

Secondly, how can iMovie inflate a file to six times its size? Someone with some Mac experience explain that to me. =/

Thirdly, I'm a little confused as to why you'd want to transcode the video once again. Keep in mind for every encoding you do on a video, the quality will drop. So, the first thing you would need is a description of the rendering setting so you can match those as close as possible.

I have those, so if you need them, give me a shout.

Numbers (MSRP for the official sites, they may be cheaper elsewhere):

Sony Vegas 9 Pro-$599.
Final Cut Studio Pro-$999.
Premiere Pro C5-$799.
Avid Media Composer 4-$2299.

Sony Vegas is so not available for Mac. It's been Windows only since it came out. If you do have a PC, make sure you have a dual core (@ the least) to run it on.

It should be available for both Mac and Windows.
See above.

I use Final Cut Express for my video editing needs on my Macbook :) works like a charm, although I never used it for editing video files off my Dazzle. When I made my combo vid, I was still using a PC, and I used Pinnacle Studio because it was convenient. But I am very curious to see how Final Cut will perform when using footage taken on my Dazzle (via VideoGlide)...
