well, here could be a thread to post funny, sad, or downright upsetting video game stories. here's some of mine and some friends:

: My brother was playing "The Legend of Zelda II" that came on the Gamecube collector disc. It was originally for the NES. He had been playing the castle with Volvagia. It was around 10:00-11:00 P.M., and he was getting frustrated. He said that he felt like pitching the controller through the wall, and his face was beat red. My mom said that she thought he had a ear or eye infection, but he didn't. But, she took him to the hospital, and when they took his blood pressure, they said that it was a little above normal. They asked if we knew why, and my mom said, "He has been getting frustrated with a game he is playing." So the game got him so frustrated that his blood pressure went up a little! (He was fine, by the way)

: My brother and I were playing SSX Tricky for the gamecube. And he was using JP, and we were doing showoff mode. He would have fell off a bridge we had to snowboard across, but an "invisible hand" somehow "pushed" him over, and he went on to safety. I fell off with him, and, naturally, I fell down, plummeting into the water face-first! This was a definite glitch.

: I decided to fire up Mario Power Tennis for the Gamecube. I was doing doubles, gimmick masters I think. It turned out that I had to fight Peach and Daisy for the championship so I could unlock another character. I was Mario, and my partner was Paratroopa. I hit the ball towards Peach, and she swung at it. You could CLEARLY see that she missed the ball, and yet the ball went flying toward me, like a bullet, and it cost me the championship. But, with a little patience, I won!

It's always fun to talk about your losses or wins in video games. Great topic, Marthmaster. :)

My favorite moment was when I was fighting my friend on melee, I was Young Link and he was Shiek and we were playing on the Great Fox. So anyway, we were fighting and my damage was well past 150% and everyone in the room knew I was going to lose. But as he was dashing towards me and I knew it was the end, a baseball bat appeared in front of me. As fast as I could, I nabbed the bat and smashed the control stick and scored a home run. Shiek went flying across the stage to her demise. I was laughing so hard afterwards.

Sorry Pit_42 but that wasn't funny cuz it happens all the time.

Here's mine i was facing my friend in download play in metroid prime bounty hunters. We were at a big place which was good for sniping. He never knew how to play well so i tryed going easy on him. He got the sniper and was looking for me through the scope. Since i have this game i went right behind him a i grabbed a sniper too. I kept waiting untill he could find me but i couldn't and so i looked in the scope and headshotted him and killed him. I laughed so long even though i was on his radar.

I stopped playing most video games because of stories like this.

The worst thing ever -- which has happened to me more than once somehow -- is when you're playing a game that takes hours and hours to beat. It's a weekend, so you've been playing for like... 4 hours straight... and well, this is what happened to me.

I had been playing FFIX for the past few hours... just as I was about to save, there was a power surge. I don't think I started playing it again for at least 3 weeks.

Oh, that sucks when that happens.

Here's one I have: I was playing Pokemon Sapphire, and had just been collecting ashes by running around in the grass sorrunding the volcano for the like the last hour. They I went on the gondala thingie to the top of the volcano, and trying to find a way to skip the cut scene, I accidentally restarted the game. I didn't play for like 6 months because I was so mad. :(

If we're talking about video game tradgedies, here's one:

I was real young and playing some spongebob game when I accidently saved by second file over my first, better file after nearly beating the game. I think I was crying for 45 minutes. I was a pretty big wimp.

man, that sucks. I did that to my bro's final fantasy adventure game for the gameboy. he had almost beaten it, and I thought i was loading when i was actually saving. i was curious to see where he was, and selected it. before I knew it, his save slot was overwritten. man it was sad and funny at the same time! lol.

Ya, that would be sad but funny. :)

Also, I think on the original Wario Ware for GBA I was playing a microgame to try and beat it and the required number of times that I beat it to pass was 20. But I was getting really bored with the microgame, so I screwed around until I finished with 19, thinking you needed 15 to pass it. It was a pretty hard microgame, too, so that didn't end very well.

Very tl;dr topic, but I'm posting another response anyway. PC+ never hurt anyone.

warning: spoilers ahead

I was doing a SS speedrun in metroid fusion. So I reached the end, ready to fight the Sa-X, and I thought "hey, this'll be a piece of cake." Well, I killed the Sa-X easy, but evidently I shot my first charged blast at its transformed stage at just the wrong moment. It became invincible, and I couldn't do anything to cause it damage - all my shots would just go straight through it. I eventually had to restart out of the fustration of it being impossible to kill. I kinda stopped playing fusion after that.

Another glitch I ran into in that game was during a segmented run. I was doing a practice run-through for my current segment (I was at the point in sector 3 where you fight the security robot), and so after unlocking the hatches, I made my way to the download room. When I went back to activate the event that led to the battle, I suddenly found myself unable to do anything. I had put in so many actions at one time that the game had frozen, with samus facing toward me (and I wasn't on a save pad, either). Since it was just a test run on a segmented speedrun, I didn't find it too annoying, and actually found it kinda cool.

A similar thing happened to me, I think, on my GBA, though I can't remember what game it was. Also, it happened to me with my GC, while I was playing smash the power went out.

I have another one:

I was playing Pokemon Silver after having just gotten it that day. I beat the first Gym Leader and went on to do something else without saving. Eventually I got into a battle. I fought the trainer until he had only a Zubat left and I only had a Metapod. Of course, the only thing I could do was harden and he could only use supersonic or something, but anyway, we got trapped in an infinite loop, with him doing nothing, then me doing nothing. I got really sad after that....

Technically you would've won if you waited long enough. Struggle ftw.

Honestly I do not know anymore.
This happened numerous times on me, but on Super Mario RPG (the first and my favorite) when I get so far without saving and fight a boss, I lose to it (morely against Yoridivoch), and start all over from the last time I saved.

You guys quit your games way too easily. ^_^

My friend and I were playing Melee and I had to leave to do something. When I came back my friend was waiting for me so he could choose the stage. (I always played Marth then, so I figuered he knew I wouldn't change characters.) He chose our favorite stage, Final Destination, but when it loaded, there were four characters instead of just the two of us. What's worse was that he filled the place with Bats and Bomb-ombs.

He had more experience using items and fighting in Free for All which made us about even (I usually pwned him). We were left with him, I , and a computer, Doctor Mario, and all of us were on the last stock. I grabbed a Bat and tried to smash him out. (Yeah, I got greedy and tried to finish it quickly. Dumb move) He, of course, jumped over such an obvious attack and said, "You cant hit me with a Bat. I'm not a noob." I went and tried again so he dodged again by rolling behind me. The computer Doctor mario came, however, and caped me, allowing me to Homerun hit my friend out, taking his last stock. The look on his face was hilarious.

Chump.

When I was playing Kirby 64:The Crystal Shards a few years ago, I had 96 out of the 100 shards and the game suddenly froze so I had to turn it off, and when I turned it back on, all of the data got erased and I had to recover all of the crystal shards and get all of the levels back again.

F-Zero GX, by far the hardest game that exist for the cube (Kid Icarus is the hardest game =P )

I was trying hard mode and then the part where you have to save jody. You have to race trhough a pipeline with doors that are slowly closing (security reasons).

The most frustrating moment in my whole gaming life:
I got to the finish (like after 1000 try's) and then my time ran out while I was passed the finish line

I was thinking, did I made it yes or no?

I didn't
I was so freakin pissed T_T
I am there, stupid gamecube, just read the ****in disc I remember myself thinking.
a month after that I finnaly managed to pass the mode, but that was once and never again xD

Someone here, who has beaten the staffghost on the first stage of the first cup? I have beaten all, but not that staffghosts. The computer seems to be glitching or something, he goes harder then I do, and I almost do exactly the same with the same car, with the same start)

^I can come REAL close using my custom machine. Can you beat mission 7 on Very Hard? That's the only mission I can't beat.

This didn't happen to me, but a friend of mine. We were playing Mario Golf Taodstool Tour on the GCN on the par 3 course. He didn't hit the ball hard enough and the ball technically should have gone out of bounds, but the game glitched or something and the camera skipped and he got a hole-in-one. I still won though. =P

Ending your game.
F-Zero GX is hax, I'll never beat some of those levels on Very Hard. I'm only missing 2 machines, but the effort to beating Very Hard on anything is near-impossible. I want that stupid pheonix and pink spider machines already, they're the last I need, but my temper doesn't last long enough to win.

i got 1. this happened about 1 or 2 months ago.

my dad was havin a little party and some kids were over there. ofcourse i was still playin tha game though, so the little kids started watchin me. i was playin Kingdom Hearts 2 n i only had 1 or 2 more materials to find n i would of did a 100% of everything (for the people who actually played KH2 they know this takes 4ever). So 1 of the kids asked to play so trying to b friendly i let her. i gave her a new profile n everything so she wouldn't mess up mine. So i went outside 2 get something to eat n when i came back she had saved her profile over mine, (Aint dat a *****) which meant i had to start all the way over. My dad had to stop me from beating dat little girl.

I havn't played since

One of the many times playing Fire Emblem, I played a game for at least 1.5 hours and then a really strong character died due to a lucky critical hit from the enemy and I got so pissed a threw my controller and stopped playing that for at least one week.
