The problem is that any tricks involving it requires the opponent to know the Link match-up. I'm not worried about anybody learning the Link match-up for another two years.

Some tourney Links (they all lose tho since it seems to be all of their secondaries... =( ).

SW16 Smash 4 - FX DFW Dakpo (ZSS) vs Mook (Link, Pikachu) - Winners Semifinals
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rAabQ3lUCN0&feature=youtu.be
Mook's first match with Link was fairly close by the end. Can't say I saw any interesting new techniques/combos though.

SW16 Smash 4 - Atobe (Game and Watch, Link) vs Mook (Pikachu) - Winners Bracket
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m8IO68k5X_8#t=288

EIN2 singles Ryo (Link/Ike) vs. Hi-Hatz (Ganondorf)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e2y8R9GQqYY - only the 1st match is with Link. Personally I think he has some decent setups with Link, but he makes too many mistakes and the Ganondorf capitalizes easily.

I had already added the Ryo match. I like the first Mook match vs Dakpo, will add it for the first game. I'm also adding some of Legan's friendlies vs Hylian and Izaw's BEAST 5 match against J.Miller.

Not sure how much lag played a factor in these matches but elessar had some pretty impressive reads in both games.
It's no secret that I'm not very good at this game. XD I still have a lot of bad habits like rolling too much, and being very predicable. Elessar has a tendency to read me like a book whenever we play.

And the lag wasn't too bad considering that there's about 4500 miles between us.

Hm?! I don't think you were rolling too much in those games. The second one in particular. Looks like every roll(except where he caught you with that dash attack :/) where used to evade an attack/grab etc.

As Zelkam said, there was barely any lag, as in we could actually play decently. And thanks for the comment.

Elessar used his dash attack 7 times in the first game, missing 5 times and hitting Zelkam's shield 2 times. That is way too much, especially for dash attacks that don't hit. Even chasing rolls with it is nearly impossible -- better use it only in very select situations, as a surprise tool.

I agree with that. I played horribly bad in the first match (sorry Zelkam) and it shows. I do like the DA though, but I strugle a bit to use it as effectively as I see it in my mind.

I don't mind, it actually gives me a fighting chance lol. I'm just happy that you're willing to play against my scrubby self.

Nah don't undersell yourself. And I'll play you anytime. We learn by losing, not winning.

I added tournament videos featuring Willyiscooler, Mofat and Huggles. Since we are getting more and more quality tournament videos I will be putting the early-game For Glory and Online recordings in a separate spoiler as they are no longer necessary.

This is a fine match too: Electroswoosh (Link) vs OmGage (Shulk).

Do also watch Izaw's match vs J.Miller if you haven't already.
I honestly think Izaw is better with Link than he is with Sheik. After a while, his Sheik approach looks so predictable, and J Miller capitalized on it.

Am I allowed to evaluate these matches? Personally I agree with Zelkam that he was rolling a lot in that first match, especially starting midway through or so. Btw, Elessar, I love your use of Ftilt. I've never really been able to use it properly (I keep Smashing instead), but now that I have the A stick for soft bomb throwing, I might give it a try. Also, Elessar, you got quite a few grabs, why did you always throw him to the side? I feel like Link is far weaker when he's in the air above you, since UAir > DAir, UTilt & Usmash (if timed right) are great killing moves and you can use bombs as well. At least that's typically where I thrive against opponents more often than not.

Of course you are and thanks. As to why I throw to the side I have two reasons. One is that I am better at Tech chasing and reading landings than juggling, so if I uthrow I might not land a follow up while to the side I basically reset the spacing and can thus either tech chase or go back to the neutral and keep racking more dmg than I would with one uair which won't kill them. Two is that Link's throws, while arguably bad, send the opponents off stage earlier than they kill vertically (if you grab an opponent at 155% they're dead, pound till would 170% and uthrow for a kill) and I'd much rather go into edge game and gimping than scoring a free uair which won't kill the opponent. When going to throw I always think of these things in this order of priority:

1) Am I near a Ledge and can I get him off stage with this throw? If the answer is yes then I throw him off stage and go for a gimp.

2) is there a platform near? If I throw him to it will he wobble on it? If the answer is yes then I go for this and tech chase.

3) Is he in kill %? (150%) pound till around 170% and uthrow for a kill.

4) Do I have a bomb/gale in the air? Can I make him hit either? If so, then I do this.

I also go for pounds starting 50% usually since then you can land at least 3 or 4 and still get in a throw, and the pound racks up quite some free damage. If he's in low percent though I vary depending on the opponent. For heavy chars I like to do this combo: jab1-utilt-jab1-grab-pound till release-jab1-utit-nair-tech chase or reset spacing. However, I keep forgetting to do it lately.

Oh nice, thanks Doomfire. If anyone wants to critique me, especially on the Samus/Rosalina player, that would be awesome. Think I went 0-3 against his Rosalina before kinda figuring him out and winning the next 2, then same with Samus (0-2 before getting the final win). They're not MUs I know particularly well and it shows. Dat Charge shot. Damages shields more and travels faster than I always seem to expect haha.

Btw, I wouldn't double post FYI. You can edit your previous post to include the "Thanks for the support guys" and just put "accidental double post" in the second one.

I've only watched the combo video, but you have some nice bomb setups, and you use the pummel before grab pretty well.

Unfortunately, you're not capable of deleting your own posts. Once Elessar or Fox Is Openly Deceptive notices it, they'll probably fix it for you, though.

But yeah, like SaberLink said, try not to double post if you can help it. If you realized you forgot to say something or just want to fix something you said then click on the 'edit' link below your post and do it that way. :)

Okay, so if you've got a 3DS, I posted some Link replays. I really wish Sakurai had made it possible to search for 3DS names, but I suppose narrowing down the search options is okay also.

Name: Kidlink77
Mode: For Glory/ 1 Vs 1
Character: Lonk.

Critique me please. I need help with the Samus MU.

don't you know that posting vids of you playing matches against good opponents makes you a scrub (somehow) if its on for glory?... just playing lol. You are really good, and I like your video editing skills too. You are the type of person that made me want to join the Link forums in the first place lol. Someone that actually has skills and isn't afraid of competition and full of excuses lol. With that being said... *downloads dtilt strategy*

I'm also curious why you used jab into dtilt @ 1:25 on the 3rd video. I just wanted to know if you did it because it's safe/applies pressure/ ect.

Hush now, quiet now, it's time to lay your sleepy head. Hush now, quiet now, or end up in my shed.

Wifi is at best a distant representation of skill. Against randoms it is a useless indicator. Even against actual tournament pros the delay can make a huge difference and reactions and punishes take longer. A wifi video can show us what bad habits a player has to critique them appropriately, but it will never prove that player is good.

We have footage of ZeRo, you know, the Apex winner, playing For Glory with Link, but I am not adding that either and for a good reason. Wifi was very useful to test the waters when the game was first released, but now that the offline scene is in full bloom it is no longer necessary. Use it for practicing and testing all you like, but do not expect it to be a place for serious matches in a serious environment to be seriously studied.

I see that you're still blinded by your FG win ratio (hence your avatar having his eyes closed) so let me tell you what we'll do. You'll come over to the xat, chat with us, and play with us. We'll tell you just why your opponents aren't good, and why you're not as amazing as you still seem to believe you are.

http://xat.com/LinkSmashers

What's the worse that can happen, right? If you're so convinced about being an amazing player then why shouldn't you come and beat us into silence?

We're waiting.

Nah I have no problem , and understand. I'm just sayin that a person is not automatically bad because they are on forglory. But accepting only vids that aren't online (for lag sake) I have no problem with. I was just sayin that I could tell he was good regardless of whether he was playing online or not.
