VGC 2013 Rate My Team

So since I am going to Apex for Brawl I decided to actually try and build a team for Pokemon as well. I have been playing a lot and building a lot of teams. I started with a double Lava Plume/ Flash Fire but that didn't work out. Rain also didnt work either so I decided to just use a team with strong synergy and powerful attacks and support moves. Since I built this new team and I win about 90% of the time I am peaked #9 right now on Pokemon Showdown with a 71.4 win percentage. My percentage is lower because my other teams were horrible and lost a lot with them. This team definitely is not perfect so I need suggestions so I can win at Apex. I will test every suggestion to make this team unbeatable.

Cresselia (F) @ Sitrus Berry
Trait: Levitate
EVs: 252 HP / 252 SDef / 4 Def
Calm Nature
- Icy Wind
- Psychic
- Helping Hand
- Swagger

Standard Cresselia. The best support Pokemon in the entire game. With defenses of 120/120/130 Cresselia can't be OHKOd. Icy Wind destroys teams Speed, Psychic beats Psychic types, Helping Hand incredibly increases attacks so they can fire off incredibly strong attacks and Swagger to boost Garchomp. Sitrus Berry is the best possible item for a support Pokemon so Cresselia takes longer to die.

Garchomp @ Lum Berry
Trait: Rough Skin
EVs: 252 Spd / 252 Atk / 4 HP
Jolly Nature
- Earthquake
- Protect
- Dragon Claw
- Fire Fang

Garchomp, the fastest dragon besides latios and latias and has an incredible attack stat. When used with Cresselia's Swagger or Helping Hand this guys Earthquake destroys teams. Protect is used when I am using Icy Wind or Tailwind. The other attacks are for coverage.

Hitmontop (M) @ Fighting Gem
Trait: Intimidate
EVs: 252 Atk / 252 HP / 4 Spd
Adamant Nature
- Close Combat
- Fake Out
- Sucker Punch
- Wide Guard

Since Cresselia is a SpD Pokemon I need a physically defensive Pokemon. With Intimidate, Fake Out, and great coverage moves Hitmontop made my team. Wide Guard is for Earthquakes, Rock Slides, Surfs and a lot of other attacks. Sucker Punch is needed because I need priority. Close Combat is obviously needed also. Fighting Gem is or OHKOs with Close Combat.

Zapdos @ Charti Berry
Trait: Pressure
EVs: 252 Spd / 252 SAtk / 4 HP
Modest Nature
- Discharge
- Heat Wave
- Hidden Power [Ice]
- Tailwind

The best teammate for Garchomp. After one Tailwind Garchomp fires off immensely powerful Earthquakes and Zapdos fires off Discharge. They are both immune to both attacks also and they outspeed everything. Heat Wave is needed for steel types and Hidden Power Ice is for Dragons. However Gastrodon is a problem because I can't use Hidden Power Grass.

Excadrill @ Life Orb
Trait: Sand Rush
EVs: 252 Spd / 252 Atk / 4 HP
Adamant Nature
- Earthquake
- Rock Slide
- X-Scissor
- Protect

I never use this guy or Tyranitar. Just to threaten other teams. But this guy is just standard Excadrill for VGC.

Tyranitar @ Chople Berry
Trait: Sand Stream
EVs: 252 Atk / 252 HP / 4 SDef
Adamant Nature
- Rock Slide
- Crunch
- Low Kick
- Protect

I use this guy when my opponents are using weather teams. I use just him though not Excadrill. Rock Slide is one of the best attacks in VGC. Tyranitar works well with Zapdos.

So that's my team. All comments and suggestions are welcome.

If I'm reading this right you have Drill on your team for no other reason but to make other teams feel threatened, but never actually use him.

That doesn't seem like a good use of one of your extra slots.

Ya lol, thats definitely why I posted this RMT because I need suggestions for a new Pokemon to add to this team.

And when I say threatened I mean that they will chose different Pokemon on their team so they can counter Excadrill. I do seem some situations where I would use him like against other sandstorm teams and I would leave out TTar and Garchomp.

Having Excadrill just to scare people isn't a big problem. Sometimes you don't need another option for your team, and 4-5 is just fine.

it looks like blaziken is allowed

if you can obtain a dream world blaziken, please use it, that thing is so god damn stupid that you won't win without it

seriously, use the broken piece of ****, it'll bring fear into the eyes of all, more so than any other pokemon out there

it just...decimates people's souls

Oh man, stuff that's broken in singles can be **** in doubles.

Not a terribly hard concept to understand.

Weak to EQ, weak to Surf, would have to go mixed with Heat Wave, I hear tell Politoed gets Drizzle these days...

Blaziken seems good on paper but his protect is too obvious, has no immunities, has horrible defenses, and weak to Surf and Earthquake.

You have quite few speedmodifiers in your team. Priority seems to be very useful alot of times.

If you need 2 pokemon to just threaten your opponents team but not even use them, Use shedinja and Zoroark for that purpose.

It wouldn't threaten you, it just might make you change your team to something other than your ideal lineup.

I like the idea of Excadrill being used as an intimidation factor. I assume you still intend to use him with Tyranitar's sand stream, in case you need to switch out or Zapdos or Tyranitar faint? Sand Rush Excadrill is a real monster. I don't know about Sitrus Berry on Cresselia. With how durable it is, I think leftovers would be better. Sitrus Berry is good, too, but it's situational. 25% health once, vs. 6.25% per turn. It really comes down to your opponent, and if they would want to focus down Cresselia.

A few things, the main thing is that nobody posted in this thread in 11 months and therefore you shouldn't bump it. Second this is VGC doubles which means its DOUBLES and there is only 4 pokemon used each battle. In singles always leftovers, in DOUBLES, never leftovers. Sitrus Berry is always the better item in doubles. Third, I haven't used this team in 10 months and every team I create will not last for more than a month. 6th Gen is now and therefore nobody plays 5th gen anymore and I certainly will never use this team again.

Bumping a thread from more than a week ago isn't setting a great example.
