I used to take pride in making up random and funny (at least I thought so) names for my custom stage names in brawl, and JRC LSS was one of them. It's just a meaningless string of letters I made up, intended to make people think it's an acronym that means something.

Lately I've grown less fond of it though, in part because I'm afraid people will misread it as "JERK LESS" at a glance.

The avatar is because my nickname is "shark".

When I was eight or nine, I inhabited the magical land of IMAGINATION!!!
imagination-spongebob-o.gif

With that in mind, I came up with a whole bunch of imaginary-friend/pseudo-alternate personas to fill my mind when I was alone (which was often). By taking a name from one of these personas ("Kanoka") and spinning it around, "Kankato" was born. Huzzah! creative name!

I had a brief Death Note phase all those years ago, when I stuck with Apples as my name. I kind of hate Death Note a little bit now, and I don't go by Apples in any other gaming communities I've been a part of aside from Team Fortress 2's competitive scene. I use Steadywing mostly, which stems from a Thrice song I really like. Anyways yeah, Ryuk loves apples so Apples loves Ryuk.

The '\' in this username is because I couldn't remember the password for my old Smashboards account, nor could I remember the password to the old email I used to create that account so I couldn't change the password. **** on.

My friends cousin called me a 'Professor' back in the day (when I wasn't playing smash competitively) because I knew how to transform from Zelda to Sheik at the beginning of the game in Melee lol.
And it stuck with me and my friends called me it.

Then when I discovered competitive smash through my friend I created an account on Smashboards called 'Professor Smash' but then later on I forgot my password for that account so I had to create a new one and I called it 'Professor Pro'.

Its good I forgot because I definitely wouldn't want 'Professor Smash' as a name lol.

I'm Smash's MVP  haha

but on a serious note, there was a lot of factors in my name. My bros and i do video game competitions all the time to decide who's the "MVP" of a video game (speedruns, fighting games, % completion, etc) of all types of games. It was unanimous among my family, friends, and school that i was the "MVP" of super smash. Although I was mostly thinking, "what would sound awesome if a crowd chanted it?" haha

how do you have 69 posts if you only joined yesterday???

EDIT: 71 posts
Being able to drop a 69 on the fly is one of my specialties

Made this account after forgetting the password to my old account Amphrites. This tag is an amalgomation of Garet Jax from the Shannara series and old jokes friends used to make about me "hacking" games I played. (I'm very good at breaking game systems and noticing little things that work when they shouldn't and applying them). My actual tag is Amphrites which is a cool roman name similar in pronunciation to a diety. I actually ended up with it because, as a kid, I couldn't pronounce Amphriteris, who was a centurion in a game called Gladius. Ended up using that tag in multiple online games and it stuck, honestly I really like it too haha.

Not sure if it is something I should type here, since it's a pretty gruesome tale, so I'll just give the basic rundown.

When I was in high school (a long time ago), I had a very idealistic, kind of screwed up view of justice and terribly low self-esteem. Since I felt worthless at the time, I seldom ever defended myself unless I felt my life was on the line. I would take severe punishment even if I had learned to defend myself. However, when it was other people being the target of bullying, I would either get in the way and fight for the victim's sake or literally hunt the bullies down and find out what their weaknesses were and threaten them with it. The threats were a good way to end things without having to fight. I've even gone as far as building a file with solid evidence to threaten the school with a "Criminal negligence" legal charge. I was going through pretty hard stuff and well, the school was not helping. Realizing over time that the adults whose job were to protect us wouldn't do anything to help, and being disgusted with how easily bullies got away with things, I started to embrace a sort of "hero" fantasy. I was convinced that I couldn't trust anyone to deal with the situations and that if I wanted justice done, I had to do it myself. I never tried to get revenge on anyone who wronged me... that goes against my nature, but I never turned a blind eye on seeing intimidation in front of my eyes. I ended up becoming a loner because of that and pushing people away because my life had become rather too dangerous to allow for any additional weaknesses and distractions.

I saw myself as a sort of Batman, a hero fighting against an incompetent system, but it really was just me trying to justify my solitude, depressive mood and social anxiety. I needed to prove my worth to myself.

I grew up, left high school and I don't have to deal with this anymore. I don't fight anymore, neither do I want to fight ever again. I never liked it in the first place, and nothing good ever comes from a life of violence. I gained much maturity and no know that I have some degree of worth.

However, I don't regret the things I have done. I now use my experience to help bullying victims deal with their issues. I still actively condemn organisms who turn a blind eye on intimidation and I consider it my duty to do my part in sensibilizing people so people who did not necessarily have my mental fortitude don't do anything regretful.

And so, Vigilante is more of an idealization of what I want to be. A man of strong ideals. Now however, I try to change things from within society rather that outside of it.

I really liked Trigun when I was younger back when they used to show it on Toonami. The name Vash just sounded cool so I usually go with it when naming characters and stuff. Also helps one of my favorite LPers goes by the name too.

Vashimus is a just a fusion of Vash and Optimus (Prime), which I only really use because Vash is usually already taken. In real life, people just nickname me Drake because I look a lot like him.

Tl;Dr, Eisen means "Iron" in German.

Basically, when I was beginning my teen years of isolation and despair, I found solace in the lessons (both life and historic) given in my 10th grade history class. Our teacher was a lanky old man with some good intentions, a love for educating, and some really interesting stories of his many years of life. This man, for whatever reason, began to inspire me to try harder, to not give up; to look deeper for answers rather than making excuses, and to appreciate the value of knowledge.

In one particular lesson, we were going over Prussia (In case you don't know, Prussia is now Germany) and in particular, Otto Von Bismarck. Bismarck was an incredible inspiration to me. Despite my dislike for his more militaristic actions these days, back then I saw past that militarism; I took it as one way of doing things in a world where "nothing is true/real/right/etc", and additionally recognized the awesome feats he accomplished through his means, and with "realpolitik" (realistic politics). His most famous speech stated that wars would be won with "blut und eisen", or "blood and iron".

Iron also is a hard metal, and both metallic objects and metallic structures fascinated/fascinate me. Metals are used to build androids. Metals are a sort of indicator for capabilities of technology, though obviously many other things constitute of "technology" these days. Anyway, androids and futurism and stuff like that have held a special place in my mind. Looking to the future, imagining abstract possiblities and new ideas to form a pinnacle of human ideas, transcending the flawed world we live in currently... they're all things I think about regularly. The scifi subtext combined with real-world relevance in the name, I think, has allowed me to keep coming back to it no matter how much I feel like changing it.

I used to be obsessed with Shy Guys back in the day, and Anti Guy was a special Shy Guy in Paper Mario. My usual screenname is Couch Tomato (pun off couch potato, if you couldn't tell), but when I registered, I was in a phase where I would choose my screennames to be related to whatever the forum was about rather than use Couch Tomato. Since Smash Bros was a Nintendo game, I used Anti Guy (though no one here actually called me that).

My name derives from my favorite bird, the Crow. Crows to me are very majestic creatures, as well as being one of the smartest birds alive. What I love the most is that for eras they have been paired up with the idea that they bring misfortune wherever they arrive and in mythology symbolize death.

The "hyperr" part of my name has no significance really. One day I was on a website that required a username but crow was already taken, so I sat there thinking and got irritated so I just went with 'HyperCrow' but that was already taken as well, so I just added an extra r. The name stuck with me and I started liking it. I changed my Xbox gamertag to it and still have like that to this very day, although everyone usually calls me either Hyperr or Crow. Then one day I decided to open up my Smashboards account and I already had this perfectly good name set for myself, although it's not what I use for competitive smash.

I made Abeebo during my Brawl phase, I think. It's a spin off of Abobo, a boss in the Double Dragon video games. I haven't played it in many years, but I remember something about one of the versions making Abobo unbeatable or incredibly difficult without a second player. I was thinking 'Yea, I wanna be THAT guy in smash(yea, right)!' Abobo sounded a little silly, or dopey, so I changed it to Abeebo. It also sounds funnier.

Was joining Xbox Live and I tried every Robot Master name and none worked. I put in Faceman because I was angry the others didn't work and I figured something bizarre like that would work. It didn't. For some reason it suggested Lockableface from that so I went with LockableFaceman. I just like the name so I use it everywhere.
Though in the Smash community I now go by Pseudo and DK? so I kinda need to get it changed on here or something.

I used to hang out at Gaia Online with some friends, but my account ended up getting banned. Before it happened, this guy named "Gaia Man" was pretty popular as a forum superhero and I said to myself that I could come up with a more interesting name and hero outfit than that. It took a bit of doing, but eventually I settled on Pwnz0rz Man because I liked how it silly the notion of a hero actually calling himself that sounded. I went to the trouble of designing an entire costume around what I thought a Pwnz0rz would look like, and while I've had criticisms of the outfit by a friend, I really liked what I came up with. After that, I was ragging on Gaia Man and having people draw art of my character bashing him in the head with a baseball bat, which ended up sticking with the character.

The avatar I have is actually a drawing of the character and a more cartoony version of myself and my cat, done my one of my best friends.

Ah, if only I had stories as good as some of you. My forum name comes from the fact that I've always been a big Pikmin and Yoshi fan, plus at the time of registering I mainly mained Yoshi and Olimar in Brawl (Olimar has dropped to being my secondary) My tourney tag, Kumatora, came from my favorite character in MOTHER3, which is probably quite obvious if you've seen my signature and connected the dots.

Mine came from a tendency that I have when conversing with people. I tend to over-think when I'm trying to decide what to say, and often I'll say something that only makes sense if you are able to look inside my head and see what chain of thoughts got me there. Humor wise it tends to make my jokes odd and unfunny, and if you let me talk for too long there will be more tangent than content. Basically, I tend to forget the context in which I'm talking, and what I say often ends up being rather discordant. At some point I learned there was a phrase for this sort of thing (kind of): non sequitur. It does not follow, which is likely what other people feel when I pull one of my more lightning-from-clear-blue-sky remarks. It was also Latin, satiating my need for pretentiousness.

Unfortunately the name NonSequitur was taken, and I didn't want to add a space (even where it would make sense to add one) or change capitalization. So I dropped the 'i' and I've been using NonSequtur ever since (~5 years). I've been using this avatar for about the same amount of time, when I saw the minimalist 'Devil-Puppet-on-God's-Hand' image and fell in love, but that's not part of this discussion - there's probably an avatar discussion thread already.

Friends and family always give me nicknames. My actual first name is Denzel. Deezo is a nickname someone gave me when I was a little kid, but never used til I was about 15. When I got into online gaming and finally decided to join a forum, the name Deezo was taken and I was shocked so I threw on the 1113 at the end because it stands for November 13th which is my birthday.

My desired username is Sol0ke, because I liked a character named Solo, but realizing that name was thrown around often, I changed the last o to 0 and added the first two letters of my name to it.

NameChange on the other hand was back when I couldn't think of a name.

Back in the year of 0001 A.D., Q the first was born. He was a corn farmer who made millions off of his garlic bread recipe (still used today in various Italian restaurants). His son, Q the second (also known by his nickname as George Washington) became the first president of the United States. Now you may be asking "But Q the seven million seven hundred seventy seven thousand seven hundred seventy seventh! How could Q the second of been the first president if he was born in 0087 A.D.?" Good question! He was president of the Marshian U.S. Skip a few years to 0545 when Q the seventh became the first living being to inhabit Earth. On arrival of the new planet, he used his son's invention known as "Super Smash Bros. 64" to fill the land with life. I was born in 7638 A.D. where the war between the Magikarps and the Marsians still rages on. I've been sent back in time to find the legendary Shin F. and use his almighty kung-fu powers to defeat the lesser gamers and stop the Magikarp uprising.
