I like using it as the opponent gets up from the ledge, since the hitbox is big enough to hit even if they jump and lasts long enough to make timing it fairly simple. Probably not the best option possible, but it's there.

You can also use it as a stylish finish once the announcer says "GAME!" <_<

It's great for when people try to land on platforms above you because there is a little bit of lag time when they land that they can't avoid even if they airdodge or anything. Situational but great if the opportunity arises. Usmash is really great if you use it very sparingly. It can be very unexpected.

My favorite time to use it is during a Dedede chaingrab. You just start hitting up on the c-stick (since you can't escape the chaingrab with Lucas anyway) and hope that he either trips or messes up.

most of the time you should just use it when they are on ledges, but sometimes it is funny when you see your opponent freak out when you use it right in their face and they don't shield properly and get hit, lol.

1. Why yes, it does have a tendency to leave you open... therefore, use it when it WOULDN'T leave you open... hmmmm... (My favorite are poorly placed Up+B recoveries)

2. ****, son, get rid of that blue.

If you use u-smash and someone shields it, they'll be pushed back. If they get pushed back far enough to be shoved off the stage, they likely won't be able to punish your smash.

THe super slow startup startup can throw off dodge timing sometimes also. They expect a stick, they spotdodge during the startup thn get PK Loved.

I use it as a mini projectile sometimes and I also use it as a Dash Attack.

Zelda/Sheik transformations
Pkmn trainer transformations.

Guaranteed hits (if they're dumb enough to do it with you standing nearby)

Basically, just use your common sense, as most people have been sayin. Use it when you're fairly safe, but if you take risks it might pay off (or it may lead to an early grave... :p)

Don't forget the final smashes of Samus, Zamus, Lucas, Ness, and Pit.
