World at large still unware of Winnipeg's existence.

http://www.winnipegfreepress.com/local/story/4042939p-4651234c.html

This is pretty nuts. I remember getting to campus Thursday morning and wondering what was up, and the cops were all really evasive with the details.

It's probably a joke... but ****, what a bad joke. It isn't even remotely funny.

Or maybe people are gonna die. Time will tell...

Countdown to V-Tech Winnipeg Edition: five days.

More details as I get it.

Wow... that's a bit frightening and extremely annoying.
It is a pretty messed up joke, if it is indeed a joke. Hopefully though, it is just a joke.

That's ****ed up.

Joke or not, whoever wrote it should be expelled... from earth.

That is really some ****ed up situation you got there.

My guts say it's probably a really dumb joke of some ****ers trying to be funny, but it's better to be cautious anyway.

And CK is so right about the punishment.

Don't blame the student, he was probably just possessed by some mysterious old diary. I see it all the time. Remember to use a mirror when rounding corners.

The guy's doing a public service. The whole school can take the day off to play their new copies of Halo 3. He's going to "shoot up" the school on XBox Live. Of course, I wouldn't expect stodgy old police officers and news reporters to get this. They don't have their fingers wrapped around the throbbing pulse of the youth as much as they would have us believe.

Amazing point.

the article said:
The threat was discovered Wednesday morning by a student and police were stationed all over campus by 7:30 a.m. Thursday.

A television news report said the warning read: "I'm going to shoot this place up on September 26." Neither the university nor police would disclose the wording.

I don't have school on Monday, so "Tuesday" must have read to me as "Monday".

Or I've forgotten primary school.

I think tmw means that he owned him in Halo 3 multiplayer.

Nobody. Thankfully, it was either a hoax, or deterred by the police being everywhere.

(or it's a decoy for a later date...? naaaah)

By the way, have some respect.

Glad no one got hurt. It's so messed up that we can't even go to school now without worrying about some lunatic wanting to shoot everyone up. High schools and middle schools in some cities now have armed police officers. Just rediculous. I agree that they should be present...but it's sad that it has come down to that.

Actually, you can go to school without worrying. High-school shootings aren't exactly every day stuff, which is exactly why you keep hearing about them.
As far as I know, psychotic youths who run amuck don't exactly plan their shootings far in advance. It's something that happens when someone suddenly snaps. After 5 days, most emotions that could cause such a snap would have calmed down already.

Of course, I would be scared, too, if such a message was found in my school. But the way I see it, this only happened because the idiot knew that it would cause such a commotion. That was most likely the very satisfaction he wanted to acquire, the feeling that he can do something that will cause everyone to jump and become paranoid.

Then again, I'm an outsider, so what do I know.

At least nobody was actually hurt in the end. Also, the Halo theory was brilliant.

Errrrr... Klebold and Harris had journals full of schematic drawings and plans that stretched farther into insanity than what they were able to pull off.

And the V-Tech guy posted threatening crap all over the web days to weeks in advance.

But yeah, what's important is that it didn't happen. There are still pretty vigorous bag searches, though.

Not only that, but their plan was meticulously planned. They were going to plant bombs by the support of their cafeteria, as the library was above it. They planned to detonate the bomb during lunch, while they were both posted at the exits with sub machine guns so they could shoot people who flee. It would have killed hundreds of people. But luckily, the sucked so badly at making bombs that not only did they not go off when set, but didn't even go off when they threw them at stuff.

There's a new theory floating around that apparently leaked from the police to the security (then around the security), to my friend, and then to me last Thursday.

The threat was scrawled by an irate teacher that got laid off.

I lol'd

Hahaha, nice.

there was graffiti at my school recently. it said:

"Shoot all the kids"

and the other said

"Fight war, not wars. Walk off the job, buy stuff, fight terrorists, defend freedom, so you can buy more stuff."

No joke.

This reminds me of last year at my school. Someone wrote on the bathroom wall that there was a bomb. We all had to evacuate.

The same thing happened later that week. We had to evacuate again.

The person was caught, but there must have been copycats, because no less than six times was a bomb threat written on a bathroom wall, forcing the school to evacuate.

It got on the news after the third bomb threat, I believe, and for every bomb threat after. There was a close up of me walking home from school on TV, but I didn't get to say anything on television.

Those were the craziest three weeks of school ever. The bathrooms were locked between classes, and you had to do special stuff to go to the bathroom. The last two bomb threats got through even with these preventative measures in place.

So, the school shut the bathrooms to stop bomb threats? Great now they are not going to know if the bomber REALLY is going to do it now. Lol

No Internet?!?
About the most exciting thing that happened at our school was that week when the fire bell kept on going off. Again, and again, and again, and again.

It got so bad that everyone even stopped evacuating the building at times. You could see the headteacher getting frazzled by the Firefighters who seemed annoyed that they had to go to our school 3 times a day only to be told there's no fire.

EDIT:

Also, apparently my school looks like a castle.

Ignore the date, I only took that not that long ago.

I don't think you were ever in any danger, Evil. School shooters tend to do it because of inferiority complexes, but nobody's even heard of Winnipeg, so the shooter would have to be pretty stupid to go through all that trouble.

You've never heard of Winnipeg? I've heard of Winnipeg before I heard of Virgina Tech or Columbine.

Well I've heard of it, but that's because East Coast > All and we hear about how much the rest of Canada sucks like every day.

Where are you from, Crims?

Tragically, Louisiana. Specifically, Deep South Louisiana. I am about 2 hours from the Gulf.
