Now you see, I've never watched that so your reference is immediately wrong and I'm right.

That's still Scotsman fallacy. If you play the game, you're inherently part of the community.
Smash players aren't part of the actual smash community and I’m not saying that because I don’t like them. I’m saying that based off of years of research.

Reminder that DarkSydePhil outlasted super best friends, Mike Ross and plenty of others and will probably continue to go on.
Also reminder that DSP is forced to beg every day of his life to keep his barely working lifestyle working.

He is still going, yes, but I don't think it's a good thing for him imo.

Inherently, yeah, but would you consider someone like, say, DarksydePhil a part of the Smash community? I wouldn’t.
Regardless, I'm going to assume he ****'s on Smash Bros, but that doesn't really matter with my point.

Here's the issue. You can't just decide who the audience for your game is. Deciding who actually participates based on what you like about them and how hardcore they are is like saying people who only silently vote for election aren't real democrats or some **** like that. A big voice means jack if there isn't a ton of small voices silently backing it.

I think he’s making a lot more money than he’s actually admititng to. No way some people haven’t given him money just so they can laugh at him some more.

I should write the entirety of the tragedy of Cyndane the Queen of Evil.

But not now, maybe later.

Still not what I would call a good lifestyle, he may make more money than what he say, but he is really not happy about it, or much about anything at all.

This guy life is basically a living laughing stock now those days anyway.

That’s true, but there’s a clear difference between a guy who spends hours lobbing with each character and a guy who plays the game once or twice before moving on. They’re part of the community yes, but there’s clear differing levels of participation.
Wait what are we even arguing about?

I don't think Nintendo ultimately cares too much about how many times someone posts on a forum so much as what they post when they see it. If you inherently buy products from them, you're a part of the community. You can make any subsection you want, but you can't really exclude the gravity of a small effort but great collective. That's business in a nutshell. This is a clear example of the "Smash Bubble" where people are making a distinction only to narrow the actual reality of what's happening.

There's really nothing to argue once you said "That's true." My point was made and you agreed with it, and I agree that there are different levels of participation. We did it y'all.

On one hand, I'm interested in seeing how much this place will lose it's sanity the more the direct is far away.
I wonder what would happened if there is a direct but it announces that Joker has been delayed and asks the fans to be patient.

To be fair, I think it was worse in February when we didn't even know if we were going to get a direct at all. We know for certain info is happening this month.

I saw you liked my post, so I thought maybe you were joking or that you were partially agreeing. I responded seriously as a precaution.
Shi was making a joke based on Salem, a professional Smash player, tweet about how Melee players aren't part of the Smash community.

That explains it. Good to know for later. I don't keep up with competitive drama. I just watch EVO, LOL.

You joke, but I seriously wouldn't be surprised if they asked us to be patient over the next newcomer, and then not show them off.

E: God you guys post slow. Accidental double post. My bad.

Just a reminder that we're 60 days away from E3.
If we don't get the next DLC newcomer reveal this month then it's going to be after 60 days.

also me: it's been four months and they haven't even shown off the first character yet, this is purgatory

Actual intellectuals realise that they’re going to release every single dlc character on the very last day of February 2020. No announcement.
