Just thought i'd post this here, on NE i was mentioning how evo should have listened to melee players in regards to items as should all serious people about running competitive brawl. I was then told that melee and brawl are different games......... So i made a nice orderly post followed by this.

Quote:

Basically what i'm saying is though they are different games take away melee at's, chance to not auto sweetspot, make crouching useless unless your character can crawl (lol), make the physics feel more like it's underwater than anything, make almost all grabs either useless for setting up combos or a chain grab, make it visually more appealing, give it orchastrated music, add 2 third party characters, a robot, a penguin in a santa outfit, kirby with armour, a boy angel, a fat guy on his motorbike, a ****** with flowers for minions,a big bad wolf, a smaller version of DK with a gun(same initials....), a marginally different bloner ness with no hat and a stick, a boy from pallet town with his 3 best firends/slaves, swap mewtwo fro lucario, roy for ike, young link for toon link who still looks kinda young.., let samus take her clothes off, new stages...or at least more aesthetic remakes of old stages they got rid of not to mention the ones they kept. And then you have brawl.

Discuss.
You forgot take away the hitstun on everymove and then that is terrible brawl for you. (those last words kinda rhymed) but other than that you were completely correct about everything you said lol. Wow melee is good.

Hm in that case I didn't mean to phrase it how I did, basically what I meant to say is if a game has been played to the extent melee has then if you come into melee having never played before looking to work your way to the top everything is already written down for you. You learn set techniques off a youtube video, practise them and off you go into the advanced world.

Brawl is different, it's not as straightforward and its harder to be the best with such a small margin between the best and the worst. In that sense it is harder to be the best at brawl.

Dont quote everything seperately its annoying and takes ages to read.

And will you gotta remember brawl is adapted to suit the market. The characters in melee were pretty random and most look very gay, so its no different adding some new nintendo characters with new movesets and some new levels to spice things up and keep people entertained, although they did nerf ganon and he rawked :<

Brawl tactics are easy to found out iswell though and all of them have be found, maybe there will be some character specfic ones but all of them are found out, there is less tactics in brawl so its not like you will be searching for them for long. And any brawl tactics they are extremely easy to learn in comparison to any melee tactics.
But the fact that everyone is around the same level as you said yourself it doesnt make it harder to be the best it just makes it hard to stand out as a player like Silent Wolf stands out for tech skill. If you do become the best at brawl it wont take as long as it will to become the best at melee lol. I dont care how the characters look in melee lol, the gameplay is too amazing. Brawl gameplay is different and I dont like it so I think its ****.

dont argue on whats better melee or brawl
dont make this thread a fail thread .
@ prof pro
i dont even know who prof pro thinks he is :) being in the melee scene for a short time .
until this guy actually gets brawl he cant something anything dont quote him Rofl.
lol at him talking about silentwolf , how long has that guy been in the melee community for and the fact that you claim melee is better than brawl for only the reason that its more technical shows your not good at melee / dont know this game at all
@koop_88
if you play melee solidly for a 2month you will get as good as us,
in melee you rarely have to think at all. all you need to do is train you muscle memory and work on thumb execution,
and do auto combos , that got players on like 20 - 80% then smash hit simple no ?
as for brawl i agree the game play is **** and boring compared to melee
but think about it your not going to like a game thats boring . but it is really boring or just hard for you
most things in life that are boring are actually hard for the individual
. - games are fun and only meant to be fun if a game not fun to you . - if not you dont consider it a game
(you being active melee player prof . you think brawl hard for you/boring in the sense that its more focused on mindgames/spacing/calmer/slowerpaced
you like that exciting fast paced combos/attacking which what you like . you cant play brawl , because brawl doesn't have that style in that game )
some players just like different games which suit your personality in fighting games
some people like to play slow------------- some players play fast
brawl melee

when i played brawl for the 2nd time i got destroyed by aiko wario
then later that day i took aiko apart in melee
reason i tried to apply the same game which was melee fast attacking / combos in brawl just doesn't work
i thought brawl was **** because it was hard for me . to play like that just because you are a pro melee player doesn't mean it carries over to brawl
look at ken he got ***** by a 14 yr old in evo 2k8 in the finals - he had been playing melee for 7yrs got ***** by a guy thats been playing brawl for 6months
ken tried to apply those 7yrs of meleestyle in brawl looked what happened . ultimate phail
ken said himself brawl is hard for him .
M2k also said that brawl is harder for him in the sense that he cant mindless ****

lets drop it now

P Pro: seriously you can't really compare brawl to melee, they're just too different. Its like comparing Guilty Gear to Street Fighter. The only thing they have in common is the killing method - lifebar. Brawl and melee have the killing method of removal from stage. All fighting games will have common tactics and transferable skills, but ultimately, its too different to be compared to. Melees been out for 6 - 7 years. Of course its going to be at a higher level than brawl. Brawl doesnt have that spread of skill cos its not even been out for a year. Its too early to tell. We don't know how the spread will be in 6 years time.

Edwin: Its rare that someone can get as good as us in 2 months, even with solid play. There are only a few fast learners in the community: AmcD, VA and Jet. and even they took at least 6 months to get to a decent standard. Thats not to say Koop can't do it, I just think 2 months is a bit unrealistic. 6 months - 1 year will be a good foundation, realistic.

Koop: play melee, its too good.

solid as in 3hours a day solidly

well maybe 2 months was outta line

someone will play melee for 3hrs everyday Rofl.

as this thread i dont care if its brawl or melee based

both games are easy as *** to me

actually **

when i played melee at fuzz smashfest

i played prof . pro he beat like 70% in our games

i tried to apply a brawl style to melee ultimate phail

leason for all . melee and players

dont apply one style to the other

ok guys, im back on wednesday and this sounds great, obviously i'll put all in since im a mod on neoempire.

My input.. I can get a venue for £108 where SmashGT was hosted but thats sorta a lot :/ I don't mind RB's being held at TC's place if it's ok with him. (Dont forget I wont be staying in barkingside in september...)

For now i say keep this melee based, but also have a side brawl thing for people..

NW and Scottylads you have no excuse to keep your community active, and i know its **** that hardly any tournies are actually going on but people are scheming up them currently anyway, just give it time.

I couldnt be bother to read what you said ToS, too long and layed out gay but I just saw you said I cant say anything about brawl but yes I can, I have played it enough times to find it not interesting, seen enough games to see there are no real combos in it and played it enough to see how anyone can become good at it. I dont actually have to buy the game just to have an opinion about it.

P Pro: seriously you can't really compare brawl to melee
I can always say I think one is better then the other and give reasons so yes I can. They dont have to be the same game otherwise there would be no point in comparing them because they would be the same game. So the fact that they are different gives every right to compare them.

I read a bit of the bit you said about brawl and seriously Edwin STFU. Your such and idiot it is unbelievable and you know nothing about what I think or do yet you seem to think you know. For starters I dont like brawl because it lacks speed, combos and there is no AT so for you to say I only dont like it because it is not technical is wrong so shut the fuck up and dont say anything unless its right thanks, kool. Its just you assuming thats the reason because I play fast. Have you ever asked me why I dont like brawl for you to make that comment lol? And for you to say that shows how much I know about the game and how much of a good player I am is just you assuming again so seriosuly keep your mouth fucking closed unless your right and know what your talking about, prick.
Can you please tell me how much times I have played brawl, you seem to think I havent played and seen it enough to have an opinion about so can you tell me how much times I have played brawl lool? Your still an idiot I see.

Thief lol.

Glad to see someonelse is enjoying Edwin being an idiot.

Edit: Oh yeah and I just realized something. Can you actually explain to me what you mean by this.

i dont even know who prof pro thinks he is :) being in the melee scene for a short time .
Do I have to be on this website for 2 years before I can input my opinion into something. Koop has been here for less then 4 months and he is making his points and I dont see you saying that about him, talk about being on one persons side you fucking prick. Next time you better start thinking before you type and actually know what your talking about otherwise me and you are gonna have some problems next time we see each other you prick, I hate you hardcore, prick.

I'm an idiot.

I think you'll find Edwin isn't.

And Ant, teach me and I'll play :p
I think your find if you read his post alot of it was just assumptions and things that didnt make sense which is why when I replied he replied back with laughter because he knew there was nothing he could say.

Now that I have finished Edwin and Koop off I feel it is time to drop this subject and get back to the main thing before Frozenwave comes in here and specfically blames just me even though other people are involved lol, so if it is carried on from here it is you lots fault.

It's true that you did finish me off.

It's also true that you will only ever finish me off by typing on a message board or perhaps playing a game of melee, which tbh I couldn't care less about. :p

As for the London Ranbat, gimme a month or two and I'll probably get involved, I'm happy to travel down to london. It'll probably take a month or two to get up and running so I've probably got plenty of time.

Pro I heard you are a little kid who doesn't pipe up irl, which doesn't suprise me lol, so i'll ignore your comment.

TKI was amazing, but it wasn't solely brawl like people who didn't go make it out to be. BBQ every night, drinking, socialising and I think there was even a bit of melee on the last night, a good turnout and housing. Thats what made it great. Could've been any game.

I think we should work on sorting out some tournaments, as a good way to get people involved in the ranbat could be to let everyone who attended know about it, you are more likely to get a turnout speaking to people face to face.

Who cares about TKI for it to be brought up so much lol. Makes sense that it is a good game because people had fun at TKI though.

Thats cos no1 says anything face to face to set me off lol. Say something face to face to me and see how things go from there. lol at you trying to get background information on me, what a pussy and proves how emotional and annoyed you are about the situation:bee:. I dont care about you that much to speak about you off smashboards sorry lol. I will still beat you at EVERYTHING in your life though, sorry.

truth is pro is not as good as he thinks he is but i guess someone will just have to show him
Please do show me. Can you tell me yet how much times I have played brawl instead of avoiding the question lol.

honestly I think TKI was so great more because of the atmosphere.

I like playing Brawl but I just mostly find it so boring to watch so I only saw like a fraction of the last match and that was it.

Speaking of tournaments are any atm past the "I might do a tournament" stage?
