Two FAirs, one fast (tap) one slow (hold)

I would like to this happen. For example, Mario could have his scissor kick from SSB (tap A) and his spike from Melee (hold A). Maybe do it for the other aerials as well, that would spice up the game I think. Not only that but it would help the casual game as well... the quick aerials would be much more appropriate for what a button masher would want to do.

While I'm on the topic of aerials, a short midair hop might be good to have too. Little things like that that would feel natural, that just add to your options without interfering with the current options, those I want to see!

And maybe a little more leniency concerning the B and forward B moves... I think it's pretty much a given that anyone who wants to do forward B will tilt the stick all the way, or at the very least 80% of the way. As it stands in Melee, shooting a midair fireball in the opposite direction (again with the Mario) is certainly more difficult than it needs to be. Also, I swear that sometimes when I'm jumping backwards and do a completely neutral B he'll turn around when I don't want him to. Bah!

Idea diarrhea concluded. I apologize if this thread is redundant, but I couldn't really find an aerial-specific discussion.

too crazy for me. Keep it simple HAL.

Idea would be good but Smash Bros is known for it's simplicity (at least at lower levels of play)

This idea culled from the fact that my friends who enjoyed SSB were a bit put off by Melee when I first showed them. I think part of the reason were many of the new FAir's, especially ones like DK's, that just didn't do what a player naturally assumes it would do, i.e. hit the guy in a reasonable amount of time.

Well having twice as many aerial options could be fun, but thats 4 more moves that need to be programmed and animated into the characters, potentially increasing the memory they take, and also, making production take longer.

Unless they already tought of that and implemented it from the beggining of production, I don't think they could add it in by now.

Meh, I think that they way that some arials are slow and some are fast is just adding to the way to play the character, i don't see gannon doing shieks fair, or anything of the like, it just wouldn't feel very smash bros..

I dunno, but first I hope the implement smash and tilt B moves 8)

Wasn't there a topic, about the EXACT same thing? Anyways, the mid-air jumps are already short enough, don't mess with those. Also, for some reason I see the main idea not working out well.

the 1st suggestion with the two fairs actually seems to work. its relatively simple. two different aeials by just tapping or holding the button seems completelty possible. i wouldnt mind seeing this implementing this into brawl. it would definitely add to the aerial combat they were looking for without too much complexity...peace
