Superstar, no matter how look at it, ness has a ridiculously predictable recovery and he has alot of recovery lag when he lands. Its not really that different on saffron compared to other stages. Even if you have a couple more options (and thats only of the left side), your opponent still has plenty of time to react where you are going to go and punish you. The slits just make it worst for Ness on saffron. I'm going to add the new rule later on tonight and take away the saffron rule.

Kso, cool, isn't gerry or joe driving you since you guys live near each other? Bring Mehran and the gang, lol.

but it might still be horrible
:p

It is, indeed. Better, but it still has problems.

The main thing to worry about I notice on Saffron are spikes. I had a Ness ditto on Saffron, kept spiking the dude down the slits. That means against certain chars saffron isn't too big a problem. Others, yeesh. Even still, it does look more like a counterpick stage than a neutral regardless.

But those slits are just oh so inviting to DJC into. :D

I'm just arguing for the sake of arguing [cause it's fun :p]. You can do whatever the hell you want. Speaking as a Ness second [thinking of using him as second main], of course I still need to improve as him. On the bright side, me picking Saffron as Ness will give epic mindgames as the match starts. :p

I need to have more matches against people that can **** me. My number one cause of slit death is a missed DJC, nothing from the opponent's side. Been fighting just people on par and lower.

You don't even need to spike to kill ness down the slits. You can gimp ness at zero with any character, especially on the left side (wall stun). Use any attack to move them towards the slit and do any attack that eats their double jump and they are dead. I agree that DK has it rough there too lol.

Well, technically, you can gimp Ness at 0 in any stage. :p

Still, I just can't resist going Ness and picking Saffron. That's almost become my favorite stage with Ness.

Just, many people go that Ness is unusable there. Which is of course grossly exaggerated. Although, as Ness, I <3 Kongo Jungle, I really do [and despise Peach's Castle to no end].

lol, thats great that you enjoy using ness on saffron. I like handicapping myself sometimes too ;)

I'm just stating that is objectively "easier" to gimp ness on this stage than the other stages. Yea you can gimp ness at any stage, but he still has the ability to use his up b and possibly ledge DI back onto the stage. With the slits you don't have that, ergo ness is easier to gimp :ness:

Donjuan, it says you have chosen not to receive pms or are not able to. Here's my response to the pm you sent me:

Hey DJ, thanks for your interest in the tournament. I have no problem with you guys making a documentary here. I think it would be awesome. I just have to talk to the owners of the store first to see if they are okay with it. I'll pm you back when I get confirmation. Hope to see you and your friends soon!

Ness has a recovery disadvantage on Saffron but with a spike like his, having open pits around the stage can be usefull
Haha doesn't ness have a recovery disadvantage EVERYWHERE?

He's just forced to use up b more often on Saffron cause of the pits

Also, can we get a list of people confirmed/mostly confirmed to be coming? Wenbo and I are most likely going to be there.

Definition of words my friend. (lol @ Grammar)

His recovery is definitely poor, but in saying that its also definitely WORSE on some stages then others.

Hyrule is probably the best one for him (Next to Mushroom Kingdom, ha!) due to the sides being solid. Floating stages like Dreamland and Sector Z are bad because Sweet spotting is even harder, while Saffron is the worst due to the lack of space to cast “PK Thunder”. BUT along with that Saffron happens to have solid walls on either end so that’s kind of a perk…

there's gonna be a documentary of this tournament? what?
yeah my friends are gonna try to bring some cameras and record some of the event, primarily the 64 section of it. they're thinking of like, doing a little piece on the underground 64 smash community, so if you or anyone else that's going to be there wouldn't mind being filmed/possibly interviewed, that would be sweet and hopefully make the thing that much better

the final product is probably going to be pretty stupid but if we stylize it and put enough post-production into it, as well as a good dose of humor, it could be good enough to submit into one of our classes, ideally

btw sensei i remember last time i went to one of your tourneys you recorded some of the matches, please let me know if you plan on doing that again, and if there's anyway i might be able to get a copy of the original files so we can take clips of matches and put it into the doc., why that would be just super

Killa K - go to NJTransit.com and put in Penn Station for your departing station and anywhere close for your arrival. You might have to make a few track switches which can be kind of confusing if you're not used to it so if you can you should go with someone.

That or have your parents call the venue up to ease their paranoia and can just drive there or something.

What happened to CyberConXion? I remember TSA always held their Smash events there.

On a side note, is anyone from Florida going that can give me a ride? :p

Jerry is going but I think Mehran is in Indiana or something for school.

You coming to this Mow? That would be amazing. I heard PC and M2K might be coming to this too. Here's your chance to play a melee pros in SSB64! xP

Dane wants to go, so if it's convenient I'll go with him. I have a way of floating into things (see: FCD) and I'm never sure what's going to go down until it does.

M2K is a gay @ ssb64.
