really, then whats the point of having a tourny when almost ALL of the good players wont be there? if its not for money, its obvisouly not for practice.

edit: theres also a chance that huge johns wont happen, which means that this could be that weekend. We could combine the two tournaments. have a huge tournybee =))). lmk if this is an option since the large one isnt being productive with finding out if we got screwed with our venue.

meh I think the date is fine. I mean not everyone is going down to CoK so for the people who aren't we still have the option of a tourney that weekend.

All this "easy money" crap is just stupid if you really think Jazz plays "just for the money" then honestly your dumb. If they wanted money they would get a job.
Thank you, Brightside for understanding.

Everyone else who decided the best way of getting people to throw this tournament at a later date would be by attacking my personal integrity, wtf did i ever do to you guys?

Rick, this is for insulting my 'scrub' friends at Univ. at Chicago, and for insulting me even though you say you have 'no beef' with me: if I wanted easy money, I'd just ask you for a money match.

GG no RE.

Just because the "best" people won't be there doesn't mean it won't be fun. Hasn't really been any tournies lately around here so yea anything is better then nothing since like I said before not everyone is willing/or able to travel like you guys can.

lol Rick chill out seems like your getting worked up over nothing (not very EC I add)

Im fine with any date, just the sooner the better cause I like to play at tournies :p

Huge Johnz 2 WILL happen Tink, I dont care if we gotta do it in BigC's basements its gonna get done

Translation:

- A tournament without Tink is a tournament without competition.

But who's the competition for Tink at these local events ... Eddie? We ALL know how that turns out, considering Eddie vs Tink = Tink at every single SG (4x) and Tourneybee (2x)

I think it's particularly funny how the over-privileged smashers who have the money and time to travel anywhere on the map want the final say on a LOCAL event.

It's a small, local tournament, Tink, that you'd be trading for better competition if you went to COK or MLG. But isn't that what you want? Isn't that what you're preaching about to us?

Besides. Who says they won't throw another one when you get back?

I think tink enjoys these tournies. I mean he did go to DK at the UofC one. Jazzness I like how you think its like no comp for tinkwhen in fact tink COULD lose to eddie its always real close or peter chen he lost to him at the first tournybee.

a tourney without tink is one that lacks one of the best players in the midwest. any sane tournament director would want hte most good people possible to come, to make his event more than a hand-out to players who want to skip where the real competition is going.

and LOL @ calling tink "over-privileged".

rofl, i would love for you to explain to me your translation for what i said. please, do tell!
cause i dont see that at all in what i said.

eddies very big competition when i play marth or sheik. alot of poeple are frankly and i dont play these characters because im cocky. i play them to get better with them, and it helps. it shows when these characters that i practice at local tournies can take forward to his last stock. Its very good practice for me.

I think it's particularly funny how the over-privileged smashers who have the money and time to travel anywhere on the map want the final say on a LOCAL event.
i dont have a job atm, so i dont really have this money to travel with, and i go to school just like you do. i just make time to go to tournaments. i also never said that i wanted the "final say" on when the tournament was. i was just mearly voicing my opinion that most of the good players wernt going to be there those two weekends, and i know alot of people go to play good people like, me and eddie just to name 2.

yea, thats why im going to those 2, even if this is on one of those weekends, but i do love going to local tournaments. they are alot more fun then bigger tournaments where the amount of friendlies you can get in is a big difference.

Besides. Who says they won't throw another one when you get back?
well, conisdering these were only thrown around once a month, and history tells us that it wouldnt be for awhile. i frankly like tournybee tournaments. i like the people that go and its a fun time.

So here i am minding my own business looking in the Midwest section which i never do. I start reading wtf is going on and u being from what it sounds like the **** sucker that u are have the nerve to come up with that **** u said right thrrrrrrrr (i quoted it and highlighted it for u ******* so u know wtf im talking about)

Now who the hell do u think u are calling people out like that. Ive been to Orlando for smash, gone to the EC all the time and no my parents didn't give me money to travel for a ****ing video game i worked extra hours to get the money to go. So excuse me if u dont have the motivation to work for something u want.

Now i don't need to stick up for tink cause ur stupid and its gonna be pretty easy to counter ur dumb *** but since he is really good at this game and he does well at tourney's y wouldn't he go all over the place cause he has a legit shot at winning money. Privileged you say??? I would call it skill something you don't have u campy *** fox. Ill mm ur dumb *** lol

Now why wouldn't u post pone this tourny when not many skilled people will be there. AHHH cause u will be there and thats free money to u isnt it. Tournies are what u practice up for so when u play the best u can see results. When ur playing against people who arent skilled its called waste of time. So post pone it so i can come MM u. cause since u arent a "priveleged" smasher i wont get to see u.

Please entertain me and come back with some argument that is semi interesting. gg to every1 cool in this thread Jazzness I thought u where aiiight but ur a prick not gonna lie:psycho:

Yea your probably right won't be the same if the better people aren't there (Eddie,Tink,Pete, etc). Just want something to happen (ANYTHING) cause I've been playing with the same people for the past 4 weeks and thats getting pretty dull.

As long as this thing happens I'm happy with any date.

That argument is the one only I've wanted to address through this entire discussion.

I already see your point, and I know it's a good one. Why can't anyone see mine? I'm being flamed and judged by people who don't even know me or my intentions. They think they have me all figured out, but this isn't logic:
Now why wouldn't u post pone this tourny when not many skilled people will be there. AHHH cause u will be there and thats free money to u isnt it.
It's a baseless accusation. Watty, you ask me who I am to call people out like that? Look at Rick's first reply a page back or so. He said the same thing you did. He tried to call me out with no justification. I've NEVER been like that at past events! What'd I do to deserve a rep like that?

All I said was that Tourneybee is a small, local Chicago tournament, and so the Chicago-landers should be able to decide on their own whether or not to postpone it. I took that stance and defended it. The competition's still fierce if Cap'n Awesome, Mendoza, Pete Chen, and anyone else in the Chicago area are staying. If they don't postpone the tournament, then Tink will have to choose which tournament to go to.

It's not my tournament, it's not my call, and I have little-no influence over the host's decision.

People are still trying to grill me for simply voicing the counter-perspective.

So what happens if it's not postponed, and I don't go?

Wow... I really gotta put my two cents in here.

Watty: Reread your post and please tell me you think you may have overreacted... Jazz says one thing that only applied to you a little bit, but because he used the word "overpriviliged" you freak out. He's not saying any of you guys might not have jobs or be working, but you have the time and the money to spend to go to Orlando or go to Texas, or wherever. I know me personally, I have two jobs, make money at WI tournaments (If anyone goes to tourneys for the money, it's me) and I still can't really afford to go to any of these things because of bills I have to pay and family matters I have to take care of. I'm only going to Huge johnz because I know I can make up the money I'll lose there soon. You are an overpriviliged smasher, whether you like the word choice or not.

Rick/Watty/everyone else accusing Jazz of playing for money: I know how it is to play for money, I know the feeling that goes through it, and I know the thought process. If Jazz goes to SG or tourneybees or anything else with the slight possibility he may come home empty handed, he wouldn't go. With captain awesome (who beat him last time) definitely tink, maybe even mendoza or others showing up, money is not guaranteed for him. He also came to a Racine tournament (those of you who know about them, like 6 people show up a weekend) where he basically came to just friendly with me for 3 hours. He knew I was coming, and he expected to lose but came anyway. He would've gone home losing money if I hadn't given him some of first place.

Tink: Just a quick random question to hopefully eliminate some doubt (hoping this doesn't back fire). Do you go to CoK over tourneybee/smashing grounds because there will be more people which = more money, or do you go for the what every one else thinks is "THE FIERCE COMPETITION." I mean, why did you come to HJ4 again which was scheduled the weekend of MLG Las Vegas?? Please be honest.

As it's hopefully clear to you guys, I'm taking Jazz's side on this. And seriously guys, be honest here... If there was a tournament within an hour of your home where you could come home with over 100 bucks... there's no way you can tell me you wouldn't go...

And Come on guys! WE'RE ALL MIDWEST! We're suppose to have each other's backs, not **** all over 'em. Stick together as a ****in region and stop hatin on other people because they don't see things the way you do. IT'S CALLED AN OPINION! ACCEPT IT AS ONE, STATE YOUR SIDE AND MOVE ON! SHEESH!

Haha the few Smashers around here never play anyways. Only Jazz actually plays when he's around. Capt. Awesome and Mendoza only play at tournaments where there's money to be made, and other less well know players around here are too lazy to set anything up.

Edit: I guess AngeloBangelo still plays every once in a while.

In all honesty, I would rather go to a large tournament like CoK than some nearby nub tournament where I knew I could win money.

I didn't go to any of the Midwest Circuit Events to win money. I went to get better and get some recognition. I have gone to nub tournaments before, and I have won small amounts of money (and Wild Arms 4...), but if there was a larger tournament going on, I would more likely go to that (or at least WANT to go to that...some drives are just too much for me, especially considering how much I DESPISE driving).

However, when it comes down to it, you go to tournaments to win. You want to test yourself, and regardless of who you are, you always have the idea of winning money on your mind, regardless of whether or not it is the deciding factor for entering a tournament.

So claiming that you NEVER consider money when going to tournaments is dishonest. HOWEVER, other incentives may be more important to you, like growth or seeing old friends.

It is just a matter of how important the money is to you in relation to every other incentive there is.

Tell your boss that he fails.

Also, I suppose Sunday works, even though a lot of people will have school and work on Monday. Hopefully this can get done early so I don't zombie around my office for 8 hours. =\

No sleep before work makes me want to sleep in my office, which makes my boss want to punch me in the spleen, which makes me not want a spleen.
