[Top 5 Smash Shorts] - Week 7 ft. Mario, Meta Knight, Ganondorf, Samus, and Falcon

T
his week's Weekly Top 5 Smash Shorts series ends with a blast showcasing another series of community contributed Smash clips with Magic43's Captain Falcon taking the top spot. You don't want to miss the last two plays.

What is a Smash Short? As the name suggests, it's a quick moment or series of events in Smash that is so good that you have to share it with someone. And we're giving you (yes, you) the opportunity to share those moments for a chance to be selected as one of the Top 5.
Congratulations to Week 7's winners!

Danish is a savage Samus

Next week I'll be trying something different and putting the Smash Short in its normal speed FIRST. Then doing somewhat of an instant replay. I'm also thinking about perhaps leaving out the play-by-play audio because most of you understand what's going on and I don't want to make it seem like you guys aren't picking up on what's being seen.

Let me know what you guys think.

The only one that could have been do able was the Mario dunk. Others were setups or avoidable. There was one missed tech from the falco tho.

I kind of like the play-by-play analysis, even though I know what's going on the way you break it down and edit it is pretty cool especially for those newer to the smash community (many of your subscribers)

I think it'd be much better to play it at normal speed first, then show it in slow mo with play by play analysis.

Also, do you think you might be down to do this with some melee clips or is this only for smash 4?

Definitely doing Melee. I've already talked to Dan Salvato. When the 20XX TE memory cards drop it's going down.

I've gotta say, these videos are getting more humorous as they come along. Teh play-by-play is great for newer players to understand what's going on.

Those Ganondorf and Falcon submissions were killer. I'm flagging this week's video for murder. :p

Actually, I like the way things are right now. The play-by-play analysis is well scripted + the instant replay keeps me at the edge of my seat. Watching the whole combo in real time afterwards is very pleasing.

I'd rather not switch things around, because its kind of what gives this series it's unique touch and sets it apart from all the other highight reels.

1. What were you expecting, tournament level play?
2. DI isn't really that effective in Smash4, and SDI barely does anything.
1. Yeah, and let's not be too harsh. A lot of these plays are tournament level worthy.

2. I know, but I still figure a couple of those strings were unescapable, I mean mario shouldnt get THAT MANY uairs on you if you DI, no?

Mario with rage increases the knockback of his moves. Even if you DI those up-airs you can't move that well horizantally due to the angle the up-air sends you.

So in Smash 4 terms, yeah, it's a string. Only the f-air was avoidable after the initial up-tilt.

Can we all stop and recognize the fact that that last combo was a guaranteed 0-to-death? Or am I wrong about the hitstun on Nair?

Falcon didn't do a walljump, unless he used his double jump immediately after. He doesn't go into somersault animation unless he double jumps.

LMFAO!! I'm dying XD

Omni Omni , you're taking all the excitement and "oh damn" moments by showing the plays in slow motion first, it's not impressive and you're just naming actions of the players. You've gathered some insane replays which would've been way more hype and enjoyable to watch if it was played in regular speed.

Hey Omni - Great Job with these videos - I'm at work and just binge watched them all LOL.

Anyway about the removal of the play-by-play. I kind of liked that. My suggestion ---> Normal speed first then the play by play break down.

Keep up the great work.
