So I did something similar a while back, with a Top 5 Attacks thread. I thought it could be fun to restrict it down to Nairs. What's your 5 favorite Nairs in the game? (Neutral Airs)

5. Megaman. The pellets are so good for approaching. Love 'em.
4. Mario/Doc. That hitbox lasts so long, and it sets them up very good for follow ups.
3. Falcon. Feels overall satisfying to hit with, racks up damage, and is good for further follow ups.
2. Ness. Comes out fast, good knockback, feels generally easy to hit with, big hitbox.
1. Marth/Lucina. Man, I love this so much. Feels so satisfying to hit with both slashes, covers such a wide area, and is overall a great move.

I might forget a character or two who has better ones. This isn't a list of the definite best ones in any way. I'm just listing the ones I personally like the most :) What are your picks?

Lying about my country.
In no particular order.

Mega Man.

Pit/Dark Pit.

Marth/Lucina.

Mewtwo.

And Captain Falcon.

I generally simply love multi-hit moves in general, these are some of the best.

Honorable mentions go to Mr. Game & Watch, Zelda, Palutena, and Falco. They're all just so ****ing satisfying. Lucas will also probably be in my top five as well once he's out.

The distinctive lack of :4rob: in this thread is disheartening.
:4shulk:, :4charizard:, :4mewtwo:, and :4pacman:have some pretty cool ones too.

5. :4yoshi:
4. :4marth:/ :4lucina:
3. :4rob:
2. :4myfriends:
1. :4shulk:

Shulk has the best one, in my opinion. His neutral air covers 270 degrees of his body, comes out fast, has insane range and auto cancels which leads to extremely low landing lag. Plus, it is a consistent combo starter.

If :4lucas: is the same as :lucas: then definitely :4lucas:.

But the first thing that sprang to mind for me was :4mewtwo:, his is really fun to use. I kinda like :4wiifit:'s but I think that's more because the animation is silly.

Probably depends on what you consider more useful. Luigi's nair is amazing for escaping strings, Shulk's spaces pretty much everything. Personally for me:

  1. :4shulk:
  2. :4rob:
  3. :4myfriends:
  4. :4luigi:
  5. :4yoshi:

my top five are:
  1. :4ness:
  2. :4jigglypuff:
  3. :4falcon:
  4. :4mewtwo:
  5. :4marth:
but that's just characters that I use... the most effective N-airs against me are :4dedede:,:4luigi:,:4villager:

:4luigi:
:4villager:
:4megaman:
:4ness:
:4shulk:

In this order. The nairs on these characters are too good.

EDIT: They all come out fast, certain kill/combo(luigi), some are just plain stupid (megamans), hitboxes are big (ness and shulk).

Rosalina's is the best one IMO.

-Great range/coverage.
-Great combo linker.
-Long lasting but still has barely any landing lag no matter what angle she lands from.
-Can still KO if off-stage.
-Goes right through a ton of attacks.
-Serves as a dodge maneuver. PK Fire and Arcfire spammers won't know what hit 'em.
-Luma does one as well that covers Rosalina's blind spot and can KO.
-You can auto cancel Rosalina's N-air but still have Luma carry on with his meaning you get a hit box circling around you for a brief moment even as you walk or perform other attacks, which is great for creative combos.

It's without question the most versatile N-air in the game.

So much this.

I like Nairs that have long active hitboxes that usually cover more than one area of your body. I like the idea of using it as an approach or an easy multi-hitting attack to rack up them DMGz.

G&W is one I like. D3 is good, Mario/Link bnb, the list can go on. I don't have a top 5 though.

3 of my favorite N-Airs are :4shulk:, :4megaman:, and :4villager:

:4shulk: because his N-Air is so good for keeping opponents away and very low landing lag means good combo starter.

:4megaman: because its the lemon gun, but in the air which is really good for messing up your opponent and keeping them away.

:4villager: because i just like the look of the air cartwheel.

Sheik, Luigi, Jigglypuff and Mario/Dr.Mario have long-lasting hitboxes that can lead into combos.

Well, I can't really speak for the entire cast, but between the characters that I do know well, here ya go:
5. Little Mac - BECAUSE WHAT AERIAL TOP 5 LIST WOULD BE ACCURATE WITHOUT MAC? Ok, yeah, I'm kidding, but his N-air actually CAN be useful!
4. Charizard - The sweetspot on the tail, when positioned well, gives huge knockback and damage for a N-air
3. Jigglypuff - Similar to DDD, but less damage and knockback, but fast enough to be used in combos
2. Shulk - Shulk's viability is almost completely dependent on his N-air and F-air range and combos, and comes out at a nice place.
1. King Dedede - Not only is it really fast for DDD, it is a great way to get back on the ground, it covers a huge space, especially when combined with his fastest fall speed in the game, and it can KO when sweetspotted.

I totally forgot about Rosalina's nair.

... **** that move.
As a Rosaluma user myself, I think it's good, but its slow speed requires some careful timing or spacing to be useful if the opponent isn't in a very good spot. And hitting on the late end is really hard because by then they know the move is out and will weave out of it.

I don't fight too many Rosalina's so that move ends up screwing me over a lot. I'll just need to get the timing down to punish it.

Pretty sure the only thing threatening about Rosalina's Nair is the Luma part.
Anyways Yoshi's Nair is monstrous, fast, strong, and long lasting.

DK and Shulk have some nice ones. Especially the range and low landing lag of Shulk's Nair.
Shulk's nair is especially good when you consider that 1) it can cancel out some projectiles and 2) the move function differently depending upon how much time is spent in the air.

Villager, Mario, and Luigi also have great n-airs, too, as they serve a similar purpose.

:4shulk:'s nair is so good. Great for approaching, keeping people away, everything. Not only is the range insane but it goes all around him. Seriously good stuff.

:4ness:'s is quick, covers everywhere it needs to, has a nice hitbox, and some great percentage comes off of it.

:4jigglypuff:'s is strong, which makes a lot of sense, she needs to have some good air game.

:4rob: has another one of those that just covers all the area it needs to. It has a bit of a slow start up, but if you can work with that then it can be really annoying for your opponent.

:4marth:/:4lucina: Quick, wide, and pretty much everything you could probably want from a nair.

:4pit: Good multihit attack that is helpful in covering what's in front of you.

Rob's N-air is the only reason I can not beat a pro who knows what they are doing... I should really learn to use a different character against robs.

Not at all, the move has barely any landing lag despite it's length and coverage, making it a great combo linker (as it doesn't hit too far), and it can maneuver around attacks, and out prioritises many of them. That's all without Luma, Luma is just the icing on the cake of Rosalina's N-air.

I feel like its the opposite. Luma does the work and rosa js the icing on the cake.
Don mind me tho

All Luma is really used for in it is protecting your blind spot, Lunar Landing, and poking out at the front if he's spaced a bit away from you. It's also launches more, but this means it can only be a combo linker at low percents. Rosalina's is the better move especially since it has more range and does more damage, but Luma's has some more advanced but useful applications. Rosalina is still the bread and butter of this move, though.
