Too many made up enemies

and then there's all those guys they showed in that other update

All of it is cool, but... I'm worried there won't be enough Nintendo characters to fight.

Like in that screenshot... I wish they were fighting Waddle Dees and/or Goombas and/or Grim Reapers or something.

But instead they're continuing to fight these made-up-for-Brawl enemies, instead of enemies that come from the characters' history of games.

Ehh :urg:

Yea I hate originality.

*puts away his sarcasm*

They made Adventure mode to be a unique story of its own, with its own unique Boss and the rest. I see it as a good thing, but I see where you're coming from.

They used commonplace enemies in Melee though, and that ended up being not all too exiting.

yea but this is subspace not adventure mode so waddle dees might be in :) same with all the other ones (it would be cool if kirby sucked up some of the enimies and he would change)
but its cool that they have showing hp

They will, most likely, have a lot of old nintendo enemies they probably just wanted us to know about all of the new ones. Would you really have been as interested if they just showed you a bunch of Koopa's and Goomba's? I know I wouldn't.

<_<

On the Dojo site it even categorizes Subspace into "Adventure Mode".

And there's even this quote: "I will announce this right here, right now. In Adventure Mode: The Subspace Emissary, you can also play with two players simultaneously!"

SSE is Adventure Mode

I dunno, i actually prefer newer enemies.
However i can understand why ppl would want enemies from the established nintendo franchises. It would be cool if they had both.

the new enimies are fresh and new its better than fighting polygons
ya but this is a leet huge side scroller adventure like Kirby Superstar

I wish they took advantage of it and brought in leet enemies from all the different franchises as you travel to all kinds of worlds from different franchises. Instead of making up a whole new original thing of 99999 made-up enemies that'll only appear in Brawl. Oh wellz.

Another whiner thread.

This nit-picking is a little obsessive, don't you think? Of course there are going to be made up enemies, but too much? I don't think so.

There's nothing saying we won't get our old favorite enemies back. We've had screenshots featuring Hammer Bros. and Bullet Bills, I do not doubt that there are a slew of other enemies joining the Brawl. Seriously, we haven't seen it all yet. They just wanted to show off the new things first.

Subspace isn't a tack-on one player mode, it has a story now so it would make sense to have enemies outside the normal Nintendo cannon fodder list, some of them sound interesting and might do more than most of the old enemies did which was basically wait for you to run into them.

Note: Sakurai never said those other enemies wouldn't be in.

Pretty much what Burninator said... I'm sure we'll see everything from Koopas to Space Pirates to Dark Nuts to Genome Soldiers, in addition to all the new original enemies we're getting. Its all good.

Yeah there's bullet bills and hammer bros. and stuff

but with all the subspace army enemies and stuff, I'm just worried that 60% of all enemies will be those made-up subspace emo guys

I'd rather it be like 20-35% of the enemies being subspace guys, and the rest being you going to Kirby worlds and Mario worlds, fighting Waddle Dees and all kinds of enemies funly, instead of like 40 made up brawl subspace enemies

but yeah =3

I wonder how many goombas i've killed in my lifetime..

Too many.

how many Primids have I killed in my lifetime?

I'm sick of killing goombas.

Also.. Original characters = original character behavior.. You have NO idea what to expect when you first fight them, and how fun is that?

Extremely.

I'm sick of the same old same old. New stuff FTW..

Go play melee if you wanna kill old baddies.

Oh please stop whining. Sakurai has barely shown us the Subspace and or other game modes. If it's really that much of a problem for you don't play Brawl.

We have a winnar.

Though I agree that the nostalgia factor is a big deal when speaking of video game enemies (I was elated by the love Nintendo has shown the Hammer Bro lately), we all need something new once in a while, and Brawl will be bringing the completely new experience of the Subspace Emissary along with it.

EDIT: Also, while I have stomped many a Goomba, the Hammer Bros usually end up killing me...

It's possible there are locations outside normal Nintendo worlds too, i.e. Subspace worlds, in which case it would be illogical to place extraterrestrial enemies there unless it had something to do with the plot.

I realize that originality is an important part of it. It's kind of cool, it makes Super Smash Bros. its own game. At the same time, though, Smash Bros. is a franchise that is based on fan service. Super Smash Bros. Melee was just a glimpse into what could have been the most epic crazy fantastic Nintendo single player crossover ever. The subspace emissary seems to tap into that potential, but the Nintendo crossover part is a bit lacking. It needs a balance between originality and fanservice, and so far it doesn't seem to be reaching that balance.

Goombas aren't the only enemies I would like to see. What about fighting knights and soldiers from Fire Emblem, or starmen and hippies from mother, pokemon, or kremlings? There are tons of enemies to choose from. It's not just the enemies, either. It's the levels and the cinema scenes. On that side of things Kid Icarus is the only franchise that seems to get representation in Subspace Emissary so far. What about a Mushroom Kingdom level? A level based off of Mother would be pretty awesome, a wacky Wario Ware level maybe, or a Metal Gear level. Most of the levels so far seem to be pretty generic, don't get me wrong, they look nice but they're generic.

Anyhow, I hope there is still a lot more to see and there probably is. It's just not going in the right direction so far.

Am I the only one that thinks Waddle-Dees are lame?

Anyways, I'm sure they'll be plenty of enemies from across the Nintendo franchises. Just give Sora LTD some time to reveal things people.

I like Waddle-Dees cuz Goombas just stand there and you defeat them in 1 jump. Waddle Dees can take awhile and I love using leet Cutter and Plasma and other Kirby abilities to slowly defeat the Waddle Dee that had tons of health in the Stadium mode of KSS but ya.

Actually Waddle Dees usually get defeated instantly, but in Super Star it takes a second before they dissapear and I think weak attacks don't defeat it right away.
