There's a lot you can do with a T rating and not end up as M. And I mean A LOT.

Also, you'll probably be seeing Fem!Avatar's underwear as well. We just don't have any, umm, angles.

I don't think Naga is associated that much with water.

not really, because Naga goes way further back than Grima - as in, several millennia further back.
the earliest point chronologically at which Naga is mentioned is about FE4, which is several thousand years before FE1/3. Awakening is several thousand years more after those, and Grima only appears in those intervening few thousand years.
Not to mention they already said that If will have no connections story-wise to any earlier games.

They've specifically said that If is in it's own world, separate from any other established Fire Emblem line/world.

Ninian in 7 was defenseless (and thus, along with her brother, next to impossible to level), Olivia in Awakening used a sword (as a dancer), and now we've got a spear wielding dancer.

Interesting.

Also, that gaze isn't suspicious in the bit. That's a "I'm going to whoop your ass into the dirt battle pose" gaze.

And not even have to try. So they're really not that equal, but hey. You get the picture: Garon is evil, Aqua is good. I rest my case.

It's also 1 AM and I know that my arguments fall on deaf ears.

After hearing the opinions of an artist who has analyzed both of Aqua's dresses, it seems that Aqua's Nohr dress is slightly more conservative than her Hoshido one:

Shdjwkjcjwk those Fire Emblem songs. I was really impressed with this game choice in music when I played the demo and the gameplay was fun. (Though, the dialogue gets repetitive) I might get this soon.


This just might get me into trying to get some amiibos....

Honestly, the fact that she uses a lance really excites me. I'm glad that we're getting another significant character that uses one. Not to mention that she's absolutely gorgeous here Embarrass

Alright, so maybe that last one isn't official.

That all said if anything it looks like they've reined it back in for the next one. Aqua's not any more revealing than Linde from Shadow Dragon other than having Convenient Billowing In The Wind Syndrome from all the spinning, Camilla is no Aversa or Tharja, and then you gotta start grasping at straws a bit (oh no, Kazahana's skirt is short; oh no, Orochi's showing off her belly). Most every other important character is covered up pretty well, can't fault em at all really.

Now that's not to say there won't be provocative characters revealed at some point. There were 49 playable characters in Awakening, with another 11 unique characters of note, and of the lot only about 7 could be considered provocative (Aversa, Tharja, Nowi, Olivia, Naga, and possibly Cherche's backless armor or Tiki's tikis).

Now for if, we know 16 characters so far, if my sources are right. That leaves a lot of room. So who knows.

Personally, I want to see IS give Aqua more than generic stabbing attack animations. Some spinning, some leaping - you could do some nifty things combining a dancer with a spear, if you wanted. I don't see it happening, but what's to do.

I'm skeptical, if only slightly, about the gender-swapped pegasus knight, due to his/her presumed name, Tsubaki. I'm not an expert, but my understanding was that Tsubaki is a female name, and the character looks faintly feminine to boot. Maybe we have another Sully? Although I guess it could be another Libra. too. Or maybe a reverse Libra? Agh. Who knows.

The female fighter on the other hand seems to very much be a fighter, which is pretty baller.

The more I hear about this game, the more I get a bit giddy inside.

I think it should go without saying that Garon is a pretty cool guy. That scene where he's reaching down to you is obviously just him picking up the ice-cream you dropped. He's such a nice guy that, a few frames later, he even offers to buy you another one. The weird angle is just because the treacherous wiles of the Hoshido slag-worms are trying to depict St Garon the Fair-Notioned as an evil despot. Nothing but propaganda - lies and slander, I say!

Incidentally, I really, really like Aqua's design. The half-tights thing is a nice touch, it really does (as was pointed out earlier) evoke images of Lady Palutena and now I totally want a pair of them for myself which is always welcome in my book~

If I knew I was going to get the game on launch, I'd probably be split on the fact that, what little we've seen of the characters, I prefer Hoshido (if only due to their designs), but then Nohr is getting the better treatment in variety and challenge. But, even without my dislike of the gamebeing split on two, I doubt I'd get the game on launch day as games are more expensive here and 3DS stuff rarely gets on the same release date as the states.

The Japanese launch is some time in June. The NA launch is currently listed as 2016.

Garon and Aqua look too blatantly evil/fragile girl in captivity for me to believe either extremes, at least in this game that's supposedly trying to make you look at both sides of the conflict (dancer girl appearing in both paths also seems to imply she has a somewhat major role, be it good or evil). But I'll probably find out about that long before I get the game, I doubt this thread will be safe from spoilers for long once it's localized

She seems like the kind of person who doesn't like having to fight, but who can nevertheless put the hurting on when she needs to.

I imagine she'll play the role of damsel in distress only out of necessity or willful submission, not out of helplessness or force of arms, if she is indeed the "rescue me!" figure of this game.

Everyone else has got the M-rated Skyrims and the Dragon Ages and the Mass Effects for their RPG needs.

But Nintendo has T-rated Fire Emblem and Xenoblade.

And Nintendo has proven that it only needs those two to leave their mark.
