Why? There's nothing remotely hot about Lightning.
Especially that model of her...kinda looks like a dude.
Lightning literally just started off as a female version of Cloud in the development stage but underwent revision in her design because she was too "muscular."

She has a similar occupation as Cloud. She is around the same age as Cloud. She also starts off FF XIII in the same way as Cloud does, complete with a stereotypical looking black partner who is a raising a child by himself, train hijacking, fighting a giant scorpian mech, blowing up buildings, and the copious amounts of green everywhere. But without the awesome bombing mission track. She even fits into Cloud's costume a little too well. She also tries to act like Cloud but without the character depth. In fact, I would argue that she devolves as a character instead of usual character development. In other words, she is just an inferior version of Cloud. Sorry @ S Syrek and @ Matsushi Matsushi but that is how I personally feel.

Personally, my favorite FF heroine is Yuna. I found her demure but still incredibly determined demeanor appealing and to quote my sister, she becomes a charismatic character (which Lightning is not) "by being feminine and not just being a female version of a male character, aka Lightning."

I haven't played X yet so I have little to say in regards to Yuna, other than that she looks smoking hot. I'm waiting for Square to put X and X-2 on the PC. They've already put III, IV, VII, VIII, all three XIIIs, XIV and XI (and all of XI's X-Packs) on Steam. I'm holding out that X and X-2 will end up on Steam sooner rather than later. Especially since they did the remaster. I've heard that they had issues porting PS2 games to PC, but maybe porting the PS3/4 Remaster will be easier.

I can definitely understand where you're coming from, though I just think Lightning is a complicated character. People mistake her for being "dull" and "boring" but in all honesty I don't see her like that. If you've only played FFXIII then she may seem as though she has no character and is only a reincarnation of Cloud, but FFXIII and Lightning Returns, she begins to develop her character a lot more, especially in Lightning Returns. I personally don't see Lightning as a "female version" of any character. She's her own character to me, but simply shares similarities with Cloud.

FFX is a great game and many including I would recommend it. In regards to her design in X, just keep in mind that she looks and dresses very differently from how she does in X-2, and the picture you posted of her was from X-2, not X. But yes, she's pretty in both games.

She's elegant in X, and sexy in X-2. Nothing wrong with either of those.

The only FF I really like is FF XIV, which I'm playing right now. :emptysheep:

Something about the random encounters and the battle system of the previous entries puts me off.

Being told my avatar reminds them of FNAF is more than enough of a reason to get me to switch avatars
You don't like FNAF either.

Good, cause I am scaried **** of i-

I can't believe that thing is getting a movie
Why would you post that gif?!

What, it's getting a MOIVE?!

WHAT THE EFF WARNER BROTHERS?!?!?!

That was a good time. In hindsight mine had horrid flaws, but it was still a fun exercise.

Reminds me I still owe @Elezir and @ The Merc The Merc some editing work. Remind me again when I wake up.
Uh, what editing work? I don't remember.

Why yes it is.

Who is perhaps the best trap ever imo
Since I don't know that many, I'm inclined to agree but I don't like Totsuka all that much. Not because Totsuka is a bad character, but Oregairu is stacked with a lot of likable characters that Totsuka feels average and sort out of place.

Attack on Titan.

That one anime I only watch because it's an anime-ified version of Pacific Rim with giant monster humans instead of Kaiju, but unfortunately no giant robots to oppose them.

And the similarities are there if you look closely enough. Jaeger mech=main character's name, a wall to protect the cities...

I can agree with that. I feel like Totsuka is more of a comic relief character since often times any other character interaction with Hachiman involves drama/emotional tension/flag raising. There's almost no recurring character I don't like in that show.

All male Smashers here do, if you know what i mean
HGGGGGGRRRRRRR
O-oh..

:^)

@ Shaymikyu Shaymikyu (and everyone else I forgot who wants to play Xenoblade) So I put a Xenoblade spoiler in my signature under a spoiler tag, and I was informed by someone that when you load a Smashboards thread, a spoiler tag is open until it loads. Meaning, you'd possibly be at risk for seeing it if I get the first post on a page. If I didn't and got the 2nd or 3rd post or whatever, the spoiler probably would have loaded and would not be visible by the time you get to my post. Does this really bother you? I'd totally be willing to take it out of my signature if it's too risky for you.

I honestly didn't see it. By the time my browser loaded and I scrolled down, the spoiler was hidden. Thanks for the warning and your concern, though.:) I think it's fine as long as its hidden well, personally.

NVM SCRATCH EVERYTHING I JUST SAID

Someone in the Fiora DLC thread just posted that they're making a non-spoiler version of what I have in the spoiler anyway, and that'll probably be done in a day or two, so I'l just switch back to my old signature for now. That's incredibly lucky timing, lol.

I personally don't see Lightning as a "female version" of any character. She's her own character to me, but simply shares similarities with Cloud.
The reason why I argued that she devolves as a character was because of XIII-2. It wasn't just that she didn't appear much, but her personality lost any real semblance to how she was in XIII without any development to make up for it.

(I mean she suddenly just bends over backwards for a goddess she just meets without any thought or argument? Even if the goddess was well-meaning that is not how Lightning would have acted given that she was all about defying fate and slayed a god in the process to prove that literally like an hour or two before this happened)

In Lightning Returns, which admittedly I never played but I did watched a walkthrough to get a sense of the story. While the developers did try to show another side to Lightning, it felt contrived and forced, especially given the previous games. Not to mention, she becomes a mannequin and dress up doll. Again, nothing like how Lightning would actually act.

In regards, to her being another version of Cloud, that's just not me talking; it's also the developers and character designer talking (see source below). And while they did try to make Lightning her own character, the moment you premise her on just being a female version of someone else, you are bound to stunt her full potential as a character no matter how hard you try, which what I see exactly happened as someone who played FF 7, seen Advent Children, played Crisis Core, XIII, XIII-2, and watched XIII-3. They didn't even try to hide the similarities and if they wanted to make Lightning her own character, they would have done away with all of them.

The only real Final Fantasy I ever got into was Final Fantasy Four, and the very first one.
However, I loved Tactics, Tactics Advance, and Tactics Advance 2.
If Square doesn't make Tactics 3D, I'm going to riot.

I loved Tactics and from what I hear the other Tactics games aren't bad. Wonder why they don't make more?

I loved Final Fantasy VI and VII, haven't gotten around to play more, but those two are freaking gorgeous games.
