Social "Time to Tip the Scales!" - Robin Social Thread

Speak for yourself. Ike's Diagonal Aether, Samus's Turbo Missiles and Shotgun Charge Shot, Pacman's Explosive Plug, Palutena's everything, & Ganondorf's Sword Stab are awesome and I'm sure there are more cool custom moves. Even if a lot of them are lame and some characters like Mario and Robin get disappointing options overall, I still love having the option.

To go back to this.

My post did not fail to acknowledge there are good custom special moves. Robin's Goetia is what a consider a fun, interesting, an engaging alternative. On the other hand, the customs for Elwind and Thunder are all lame.

Hong, sorry for double posting. Hey, who do you want Robin to be shipped with? I think that Link wouldn't be to bad. Or Captain Falcon (you know, the one who be her boyfriend into a pulp . Joking)

I am really not interested in shipping. Keep in mind this is coming from someone who enjoys the romance genre of literature and film above all else. Really, I'm most content to have Robin with Chrom. They make for a nice couple, and I found their time together to be strangely romantic.

EEEP. I can't help it if I am really apologetic. Also, I think with my next FE:A save to put Avatar and Anna together. Do you think it is a good a idea or is there better options? I have already do Lucina, bit of Sully, Olivia and Coredila (forgot how to sleep her name). Other I have though of doing is Nowi (maybe, stills seems creppy) and Lissa.

Well, think of it this way. Robin isn't necessarily supposed to be you, but your own original character-insert into FE:A. Robin is more or less a customizable character that you control and can make them look like whatever you want them to be, not like how Mark from FE7 was presented. Heck, in Japan they're not given the name "Avatar", but "My Unit", further emphasizing what I just said.

But hey, if you ever change your mind on F!Robin, you could try thinking of her as your own "virtual daughter", much like how the developer producer of FE:A, Tohru Narihiro, did when he did his playthrough with her.

I, unfortunately, can't relate as I've yet to play a Fire Emblem where I didn't know what role(s) she played.
I do like to see her play different, unexpected roles outside of the shopkeeper and save-prompter, but if having mystery means she can't be a playable unit, then I'd rather she not be mysterious.
I do wonder what role she'll play in FExSMT, though. Better be playable.

That's an interesting idea, actually. I'm doing a playthrough right now (though school and Smash hype are delaying it a bit) and maybe I'll try to think of him that way.

I liked her role in FE1 and FE13 the most, actually. Being active and involved. I'm willing to let go the past if it means more Anna.

= Hmm... I guess "general silliness" is what it means. I suppose it's like a combination of "," "," and "." It can imply one, two or even all three of 'em at the same time. With some added implications that aren't really covered by those three.

FE Warriors would be raaad. Imagine Hector using his trusty axes and just slaughtering them all about man. Boo. Ya. I'd love to see likes of Lyn and Ike do the same.

On custom moves, there's gladly handful of good ones that actually switch the things a bit on the move's function and execution instead of just being anohter variation in means of power, length and speed. Those I hope to look for the most.


Also, since we have over 50 characters in this game, doesn't this mean over 400+ custom moves to find...

I did Chrom on my first. Sort of accidentally, mind you (I thought marriage didn't work that way in the game), but it was worth it. I like the added dialogue for Lucina you get, and Lucina herself becomes a powerhouse. I'm not sure how Lon'qu or Gaius work with Morgan, though I will say that Lon'qu was one I was initially thinking of going with. I'm doing a male Robin run now and haven't decided who to put him with (Sumia, Lucina, Cynthia, Lissa, Panne, and Olivia are probably my top choices- I think Lucina might win because of the added dialogue), but I'll probably do a non-Chrom female Robin run on my third slot afterwards. It's hard because most of my other top choices (Inigo, Walhart, etc.) come in pretty late.

Just putting this out: If it wasn't for Robin, I would have cancelled my preorder for SSB43DS a long time ago, and I wouldn't have even considered getting the Wii U version. I'm still not getting the Wii U version, but Robin is enough for me to still give this game a chance.

If he wasn't in, I would be lost on who to main and quite a bit less hyped without a character I was passionate over. Thank you, awesome Robin trailer, for introducing me to an awesome character.

Not that that's a bad thing, mind you. Robin being playable was something most people only dreamed of; the fact that it has become reality is truly miraculous, and that initial wonder felt when Robin was first revealed still hasn't quite worn off.

Indeed. I'm still very disappointed over losing Wolf and the Ice Climbers, and baffled as to why Mewtwo didn't make his return when he had so much going for him. But I have Robin and Charizard to help keep me going.

I really like how Sakurai has done most of the trailers, more than any other director or video game company.

For these past five or so years, it has been really big with game studios to make individual trailers for characters/classes/races/etc. in response to the rise of social media. Not only Robin, but Little Mac and Shulk's trailer, are awesome because they tell you what the character is about and how they play without sounding like a tutorial. With Robin and Little Mac, notice how they defuse a negative quality by quickly overloading you with more positive qualities. This trivializes the negative in your mind, so you don't watch the trailer and go like "WTF WHY HAVE THAT KIND OF STUPID SYSTEM!", and instead you just focus on all the cool aspects.

Those little things in game development that make me smile.

While I think that cancelling the pre-order is extreme (this game is excellent even if Robin weren't here), I can completely understand how you feel about Robin. The first few days after his reveal, I had to check the official website first thing in the morning just to make sure that I wasn't dreaming. I also had to contain my hype for about a week because my buddy was out of town and we couldn't fanboy over it together until he got back at the end of the week.

Little Mac's trailer is also one of my favorites because of the style and how it's framed. I was indifferent toward the idea of him being in, but the trailer really won me over. Most of the trailers have been amazing. I almost wish they had done that with Brawl and not just some footage for the really hyped characters- seeing even "smaller" characters get trailers really makes each newcomer feel like a big addition.
