HEY EVERYBODY! I'VE RETURNED AT LAST FROM THE PARTY DIMENSION! HOW'S EVERYBODY BEEN? DID EVERYBODY HAVE A MERRY CHRISTMAS AND A HAPPY NEW YEAR? I SURE DO HOPE SO!!

I meest u gaiz. :sadsheep: Mine was a somewhat cold and lonely world without you... (except I had all my relatives close by) But now I'm back in action and ready to kick some serious booty!
:happysheep::happysheep::happysheep::happysheep::happysheep::happysheep::happysheep::happysheep::happysheep::happysheep::happysheep::happysheep::happysheep::happysheep:

Also, someone was very thoughtful this Christmas:

(I apologize for terrible quality)
Aiek here was apparently gracing the shelves at Gamestop. Last of a small bunch of restocks (not sure when those came in :p ). A close friend of mine was aware of the fact that this was a once in a lifetime opportunity, and so, my Christmas was made that much better. :kirby:

Other thing that happened while I was gone: I found the button in the extras menu in Awakening that switches between the English and Japanese voice acting. Things will never be the same...

So. Did I miss anything extravagant?
Ayy, you're back. :4metaknight: Holidays were great for me and it's good to hear that they were great for you too. Heh, that Mewtwo amiibo holding the spoon is fantastic lol.

Believe it or not, earlier today I thought to myself "I haven't seen IAmMetaKnight in a while. He must be busy with the holidays" and lo and behold, here you are. Pretty smooth timing if you ask me.

Is there anything specific you feel like you're not understanding?
What is killing you, mainly?
Monster sizes actually matter in this game, so the bigger the foe the bigger hits they can give and take.
Nah usually I try to avoid the larger ones, and basically anything more than a level higher than me. I think part of what was harder about chapter 5 was that it was kinda difficult to engage the enemies one at a time so you're trying to deal with like 3-4 things at once.

But what really gets me is the seemingly absurd amount of HP everything seems to have relative to my damage output. Like, I'll hit some level 20 with Back Slash or something and do ~2800 damage and that's like.....an 1/7 of it's HP or something dumb like that.

idk

So I finally decided to bite the bullet and purchased Disney Infinity 3.0 Star Wars (it was $15 off, which was very nice).

Time to go drown in debt trying to get all the characters I want!

At least I already got Quorra!

Have you upgraded your arts? Are you chaining auras in battle? There are a lot of factors to why you might not be doing what you could be in battle.

If you passed Ch5, you should have access to Overdrive now. That would also help you.

I have upgraded some of them, but how far can you upgrade their levels and kind how much should I have them upgraded by this point?

Dunno what you mean by "chaining" auras

And yeah, a message popped up saying I can use Overdrive now, so I gotta screw around with that and see how it works.

At least I should be able to use Skells fairly soon.....

I organized the step-by-step for you. Perhaps you could try just playing the game. Standing there, pressing the home button, go to Internet Browser, upload something to imgur, and get your selfie done.

1) Stand there in-game.
2) Press the Home Button.
3) Touch the Internet Browser button on the touch screen.
4) Go to imgur.com.
5) Sign in on imgur.com.
6) Touch the upload button on imgur.com.
7) Touch the Upload from PC button.
8) Touch the screenshot.
9) Wait for the image to upload.
10) On a computer, access your new image on imgur.com.
11) Copy the URL and paste the image here on the Robin Social.
12) ???
13) Profit.
Thanks. This made things a lot clearer.

But again, do these photos also go onto any sd card that is inserted to the Wii U at the time? Cause if not, then I have no way to upload them since I can't connect to the internet on my Wii U

Oh, shame then. You need to connect to the internet to be able to save screenshots like that and on Miiverse.

I say you should have your selected arts upgraded to at least Lv 3-5 by the point you're at in the game.

And sorry, I meant "Art Chaining". My bad.

Thanks for receiving me once again, folks! Glad to know I was missed!

DialNouns DialNouns has been converted to one of us.

IAmMetaKnight IAmMetaKnight I'm entering my first ever NATIONAL tournament in 4 days which I'm absolutely ****ting myself over but am incredibly excited at the same time.
LOL good luck. I enjoy tourneys, but no way in hell could I ever do nationals; there's too much at stake in a match, and people take it far too seriously for my liking as a result. I understand that it ought to be taken that seriously, I just don't like the environment it produces (plus I don't think I'd be ready for nationals at my current skill level). I certainly enjoy watching them, though. I'll be rootin' for ya! ;)

Pretty smooth timing if you ask me.
Smooth timing is my specialty. :denzel:

tfw everyone is playing Xenoblade X and I'm still playing through the original.
Speaking of the original Xenoblade, you know what area I wish had more sidequests?
Valak Mountain.
I mean seriously, there are only about like, 5 end game sidequests that have you go there.
It really is a shame because the music there (at night) is AMAZIING and so is the view at night time.
And I want to jump off the ice at the last second and fly
I wish more Xenoblade content was in Smash. Maybe Cross or Elma or
Fiora.
Or maybe a new stage?
It actually might be interesting if Egil was a character in Smash.
Or if he joined you in Xenoblade considering he's a Machina and that was the only race (aside from Giants) that didn't have a playable character.(4 Homs (Shulk, Reyn, Dunban, Sharla), A half-homs half-High entia (Melia), a Nopon (Riki), and a Mechon (Fiora))
The only problem is
He kind of died trying to protect everyone from Zanza.

Wow 2 days straight and I've been winning about 80% of my battles on for glory 1v1's. This has made me feel I've gotten better though. Had some really good matches with a Pikachu player too. Freaking hard though, feel like Pikachu has the advantage in this matchup lol.

Wow, this is much better than my 28% win rate I have for last 100. I've fought over 4000 matches in Sm4sh, presumably over For Glory, and I think I'm finally starting to drift away from it. I just can't ever seem to get a match where the lag doesn't mess up an input at a crucial moment or something like that. There have been a couple times where I had really good matches with people, but I don't think I'm willing to sit through so many annoying/bad/troll players until I find them. Maybe I just have bad luck.

Just last night I fought someone who played as Ganondorf and they kept short hopping one roll distance away and using nair/ fair expecting me to roll into it or something. I think I walked into a fair maybe 4 or 5 times because the lag between the game and the server read my forward+B attempt as just forward. He beat me like 3 times in a row, then he switched his tag to "Easy" then "Money" then left. I was too frustrated at the game to actually laugh at that. In theory lag isn't something you should get too irate at because you have no control over it, and it's not like the games actually count for anything. I just can't help getting really angry when I input something and the game just refuses to register it properly because of online delay.

Man, I'm just ranting now. I guess I needed to get that off my chest.

I know that feeling.
I've been there several times before.
Lag is the primary reason I barely want to play online.

Been too busy lately, missed new years with y'all over here, sincerest apologies :p
Looks like I get to move to Destin, FL in a couple weeks, and thus I need to find a new smash scene. Anyone know of some Smash 4 hotspots in western Florida? Wanna take this opportunity to spread my influence

LevinViolin LevinViolin Piece of advice. If lag is THAT awful for you in a match, just SD twice and play someone else. The opponent will know you're doing it because of lag. Done it plenty of times myself.

I think one reason I don't is because some of the time the lag is coming from my end, and it can be hard to tell if the lag is just a result of long distance or poor connection from either side. Most of the time my internet is fine, but there have been occasions where it's really put a damper on matches I have.
The other reason is I just get in this cockamamie mindset that if the other person doesn't have trouble playing in lag then I shouldn't either, or that I should be good enough to overcome the lag or something silly.

Lag affects both players, tournament doesn't have lag, it's a legitimate reason to be annoyed. There are people who abuse lag online, little macs are good online because of lag for example. It doesn't matter about 'overcoming lag', it's not something you have to worry about when playing in tournament or just offline in general. There's already plenty to learn in Smash 4 in order to get good at the game, don't add 'overcoming lag' to that list. There's plenty of people on this forum, or that you'll meet irl in your local areas who will have good connection and who you could play online with no lag or at least with only slight lag. Play them instead or find someone random on fg who has GOOD connection to play in order to train yourself. Don't get into the mindset of not being good enough because of not being able to overcome lag, get into that similar mindset with no lag - because then it's healthy and keeps you motivated to play in a situation that IS tournament like.

And lag more often stems from distance. My internet is fine I've established that by playing people from America, Ireland and Sweden on this forum with at most only slight lag. It doesn't matter either way you're 90% likely to find someone with a good connection around here for you.

Final note: don't take matches super seriously if you are playing with lag, they don't know you and you don't know them, it's all for learning and fun. I've played on for glory purely to test out a new tech I only just started learning that same day, and as such don't play seriously and my game plan is just to get my opponent into the situation where I can utilise the tech and so I can get it guaranteed. For example, testing out throwing books at shields and thorining straight afterwards. I did it in 10 matches in a row, got killed about 6/10 of those situations. Did I care? No, because I wasn't playing seriously. I was testing things out. Do they think they won with pure skill? Who knows. I don't care. I don't know them. If I was playing seriously I maybe would have 2 stocked them straight.

My main point in that last paragraph is to try and use for glory for more than serious matches, use it beneficially and to learn things. Training mode is.....well everyone knows training mode is not that good on smash 4. For Glory or playing offline is a good way to learn new things and to get used to learning these things. As such sometimes not playing properly, and just using a day of matches learning a new tech can be useful in the long run. I did this with down throw up a with Robin for 5 days straight to nail it, further taking more days out to do down throw, wait for air dodge, up a. I did it with catching items day I called it. And of course matchup days is a good one too (can't do that on fg obviously but good for asking on forums for matches against links, bowsers, meta knights or even the ditto match on this forum).

Make a training schedule, makes the fg matches less annoying as you can easily say you were just practicing one thing.

Apologies for the long post it's just....I know what for glory annoyingness can be like. I made a similar post that you replied too not that long ago if you remember :) hope this helps you out at least slightly.

I just woke up and what is this?
Did Robin die or something? Is this if Robin chose the darkside? Is Robin a her mother or lover? Why does she have Robin's coat?

Those matches were really insightful Raziek Raziek ! Gave me a new perspective on how to handle the Toon Link matchup. Muse also appreciated the practice. Maybe your resident player Drake can watch those videos and get ideas on how to use Toon Link too.

I really want to learn how to play as Lucas in Sm4sh, but I just can't get a feel for him. He feels different in this game for some reason.
I'm glad they changed his grab in the latest patch, that was his biggest problem IMO.

In other news, guess which lucky sunnuvagun won the premium raffle?

Happy to be of service.

I only wish that I was able to also play it offline. There are a lot of optimal powershield -> Fair/Uair punishes that I KNOW work on Toon Link in theory, but I was unable to execute them because wifi. I'd be interested to see how a more aggressive playstyle would fare offline, but there's only so much you can do I suppose. The lame strats worked as I expected them to.

Well, we'll both be at Shockwave tomorrow, and I doubt he or I will deviate from our usual strats in the next 20 hours. If we play on stream you can see how an aggressive style works out.

Oh, did Raziek stream some more matches? Dang, must have missed that.

Out of curiosity, what sort of insight on the Toon Link matchup did you get from the matches?
