Today I learned that Thracia 776 has a track called "Defeat is near", that starts playing when most of your units die, or if a highly powerful enemy that you can't defeat yet enters the map - the direct opposite of the traditional "Victory is near" that plays when most enemies have been defeated. How very fitting for this game.

Is it just me, or are the names of the districts in Thracia 776 inspired by the Irish provinces?

Manster, Leonster, Alster and Conote.

Munster, Leinster, Ulster and Connaught.

It's soo discouraging and sad....like, you don't even wanna continue on once you hear it. This game makes you feel bad for losing too many units.

Leaf is the worst FE lord.

In terms of statistics, maybe - he can go either way depending on what mood the RNG is in. Like, he's doing just fine for me, but his bases and growth rates are meh, so I can easily imagine him turning out bad. Doesn't help that he doesn't get access to the godly Master Knight class; if he did, he might be a contender for best, and not worst. All that said though, I'd imagine any lord (except maybe Sigurd, Hector, or Ephraim) would have a hard time if they had to be the main character of Thracia 776.

In terms of characterisation, there are a few I like less than him, such as Roy or FE1/3 Marth (though in Marth's case, it's mostly because he's the lord of the early games, and the writing and characterisation didn't take off until FE4. He's much better in the remakes).

They might make a Zelda Wii U Link, but Hyrule Warriors is only ever gonna have the SSB one, it seems.

Yup, that's right, and they're not the only things inspired by Irish locations and mythology. Across both Genealogy and Thracia, there are playable characters called Deirdre, Noish (Naoise), Quan (Cúan), Ethlyn, Midir, Aideen, Brigid, Finn, Taillte (Tailtiú), Ulster (Scáthach in Japanese), Rodolbán, Oifey (Aoife, even though he's male), Delmud (Diarmuid), Shanan (Shannon), Corple (Cairpre), Orsin (Oisín), Dagda(r), Ronan, and Fergus. There's even more among the non-generic enemies.

There are several more locations besides those four: Leif starts out in the village of Fian(n)a, and visits the towns of Ta(h)ra and Meath along his journey. Among the weapons, Quan's holy lance is named the Gáe Bolg.

The other half of the stuff in the game is mostly named after Norse mythology.

The match was awesome too. Full of Lucina's custom move shenanigans, including, but not limited to:

- Captain Falcon attempting to stage spike Lucina, only for it to not work because Dolphin Jump saved her.
- Lucina's Iai Counter countering Captain Falcon's jab...which killed him at 90%.
- Captain Falcon going low to recover, when Lucina Iai Counter'd his Up B, somehow stage spiking him.

Lucina's customs are amazing.
