SIGN ME UP!

I hadn't realized how ridiculously cool this idea was. Not only is she a manakete with the ability to turn into a freaking dragon, but she also can become a mage and use magic. Let me say that again.

BOTH magic and dragon transformation. BOTH of them in one character. Tiki being included would give us representation of weapons, magic, and manaketes/dragons in the Fire Emblem cast with only one added character.

It's crazy enough that Sakurai might go for it. She literally seems like the definition of uniqueness, and that seems to be the theme this time around.

Most people will brush her off as an Assist Trophy at best, which is an understandable stance, but that does leave little room for a character discussion unfortunately. Her role and relative importance in the series is pretty straight-forward unlike Anna who can be seen as anything from a mere merchant, to the Nurse Joy of the series, to the face of Fire Emblem depending on who you ask.

I personally think the biggest challenge will be to convince people of a moveset that is competitively sound, casual-friendly, and drawing enough inspiration from her appearances in-game.

While Tiki has access to different types of Dragonstones, which can translate to a myriad of breath-based attacks, how does one make her fight without relying on them? My first thoughts were to utilize a shadow dragon/ projection based playstyle that would attempt to catch opponents off guard.

By examining a character and their on-screen assets you can visualize the maximum range of their weapon/attacks; take Marth for example. Marth's sword and its length are clearly shown on-screen at all times, no matter how he swings his sword we can get a good grasp of his attack range and thus we can attempt to prepare against it.

With the shadow dragon set this isn't necessarily the case as these attacks are suddenly projected and can have deceptive range which leaves players less time to prepare.

Just give her fire-bending like powers for her attacks:

It's simply plain cool, fiery kicks and punches with a unique fighting style that's better than Roy in my opinion.
Personally it wouldn't portray Tiki attacking this extreme, somewhat in a lighter and slightly slower tone.

I don't think anyone could be upset with Tiki.

I LOVE Anna, but I would even rate Tiki higher, if she is done right. Both characters have SO MUCH POTENTIAL, but I would really love to bring a Manakete to the fight.

Better yet;

Also if I may nag for a moment, I would like if the opening post was cleaned up for broken image links, and if my moveset was added. Thanks!

I think Tiki would be a great choice for representing Fire Emblem. She represents the new and the old.

Although, her as a Mage in any facet would be stupid. Tiki with her dragon transformation, possibly supplemented with some extra fire, would make more sense.

I think maybe a Laguz with their whole transformation system that involves time and damage would be more interesting in terms of playstyle, but I don't think any Laguz could ever be as iconic as Tiki. That said, I may come up with some Laguz playstyle thing or move set.

It's difficult, but I'd argue that it's more than possible for someone who does the stuff professionally (Sakurai). I imagine Rosalina was more difficult to implement than Tiki would be.

I'd be happy with Tiki, Robin, or Anna, honestly. But Tiki's the highest on my list. That said, I don't expect more than one of them unless Ike's cut, and I just don't see that happening.

And I agree with you about the OP. Broken images make it seem like the thread's been abandoned.

I was thinking both magic and dragon transformation could be used (possibly in a faster form of Zelda/Sheik's method of transformation).

And what's a Laguz? Am I missing something?

I feel like the general attitude towards Fire Emblem characters hasn't changed since Melee in that the majority of the player base won't have the faintest idea who character X is except the fact that he/she came from Fire Emblem.

Not many people were familiar with Ike nor would I imagine that that many more would be familiar with Chrom. Tiki would be in a similar boat in terms of familiarity towards the general fanbase but not towards the Fire Emblem crowd (Which is comparatively small).

And what's a Laguz? Am I missing something?
Laguz are basically a race that can shape shift between humans and animals much like Manaketes and Taguls. They're split up into three tribes, Bird, Dragon, and Beast and are from Path of Radiance and Radiant Dawn. I haven't played either of those games so my knowledge on them is a bit limited.

A large amount, yes, but I imagine that more people know of Fire Emblem and the characters in it now than they did before.

And I partially agree there, but Chrom is certainly one of the most recognizable Lords (After Marth and Ike, of course) when we're talking about the general public. That said, for those that do not know Fire Emblem (or who only know of it in passing), the franchise would look bland and unappealing if we ended up with three blue-haired swordsmen in the final roster. (Heck, three swordsmen in general is a bit bland regardless of the colors of their hair.) Keeping that in mind; Tiki, Robin, or (debatably) Anna would be more likely to peak the interest of a casual Smash Bros. fan with their abilities, and, as such, would be better options to fully represent the Fire Emblem series.

Ah, yes, I've heard of those. The name was unfamiliar, though.

Hm. I could've sworn I sent a PM asking if I could put it up, guess that didn't go through which is my mistake. Oh well, the front page has been cleaned up slightly and your moveset/name has been added.

I'm considering combining and polishing the first two movesets, this time I'll try to take into account of more (competitive) mechanics/ how Tiki should play instead simply listing attacks and brief descriptions.

Tiki is definitely my most wanted Fire Emblem newcomer and is my #3 of all time behind Shulk and Isaac.

As a non-FE fan, this... Sound really awesome!

I personally like Nowi design (loli FTW :troll:) but I understand Tiki importance. So... Gah, all I want is something else than a blue-haired sword user for Fire Emblem, in fact  But a dragon-lady? Yes please.

I'm glad we have another supporter!

And I personally would prefer Myrrh, but I know that she's never happening, so this is the next best thing. (Myrrh pallet swap, plz?)

As cool as Tiki is, I don't think she'd get in over other FE characters like Chrom, Lucina, Robin, etc.

Tiki and Robin are characters that can actually represent much more of what the Fire Emblem series is about than just the lords. Dragons are a very common element of the series after all. Tiki is another dark horse candidate, I think.

Yes! I am in full support of Tiki! I lover her design and potential playstyle!

I think, if Tiki or Anna were added, they could potentially become faces of Fire Emblem.
I actually like the idea of a team- "Anna and Tiki"! As they were associated with each other in Awakening, and are either the 2 most recurring characters in Fire Emblem, or 2 of the most recurring. I like the idea of a team with equal characters (same size), but with a completely different moveset. Rosalina and Luma have different movesets, but the Luma isn't equal, Lumas die after a few hits.
A sword and magic team is something I hope to play as, and I think Fire Emblem will definitely be getting 3 reps. However, it's a character-centric series, like Pokemon. So, even if it isn't equal with Nintendo's larger franchises, I support it getting 4 or 5 reps as it has the largest pool of characters to pull from, and I don't know if Sakurai cares about this, but I don't think balancing series matters more than this. It was under-represented in Brawl when Roy was cut due to time constrainsts, and that shows it was already supposed to have 3, equal to Starfox and Kirby, more than DK and Metroid. And I think it's bigger in Japan, which is where they are, so maybe.

Can anybody tell me how to put support icons in mah description? Y'know... the thing at the bottom of every message...

Tiki is indeed a tricky situation, the best hope is that Sakurai inquires about who should he add next to the Fire Emblem roster and that Intelligent Systems push for a different, unique character instead of a mainstream Lord.

While I do believe Manaketes are more unique and timeless than the typical mage or Avatar unit there, there is heavy competition against mainstay Lords as well as the prospect of a Lord-Lord or Lord-Avatar duo (Mainly speaking of Chrom + Lucina or Chrom + Avatar).

Greetings, new acolyte of the Divine Dragon.

You can change your signature here:
http://smashboards.com/account/signature

You can put anything in that field and it will show up beneath your postings. There is a convenient, user-friendly interface that has buttons to add images for you if you wish. To put an image in there, first it has to be uploaded on the Internet somewhere. A good website is imgur, where you can upload images anonymously.

For example purposes, I uploaded this button designed by our dearest beloved @ jaytalks jaytalks .

Copy this address:
http://i.imgur.com/0rGG3uI.png

For future reference, you can right-click the image and copy the image address from there.

Method 1:
Put the image URL between image tags. It should look like this:
Code:
[img]http://i.imgur.com/0rGG3uI.png[/img]
Method 2:
Hit the "Image" button in the interface. It's to the right of the Smilies button. A dialogue box should open and you can paste the image address there.

Let me know if you require any further assistance.

So, which Tiki do people want?

Personally I rather have the younger Tiki. I think it allows more opportunity for better expression and she will shine better among the ranks.

Why not both? We can have both designs just like we have both designs of Wario and WFT (and presumably Zelda and Villager). Shouldn't be too much of a problem.

If we can't though, then I'd personally prefer a combination of the two designs. Her most recent one is just a bit on the revealing side, and I don't think that fits her character wel, but her child design is just a little too...anime for me. Her eyes are the big thing.

I think visual feedback lends itself to two different characters.

For example, the younger Tiki looks more energetic and animated. i have an easier time imagining her flipping around or springing wings to fly.

That and I always imagined adult Tiki to be relatively tall, so I think there would be too much hitbox distortion.

I would choose the older Tiki, I think a very special connection could be established if Tiki was able to trascend both time and the Fire Emblem universe to be able to interact with the supposedly deceased Marth in some way.

To be fair I have not put much thought into younger Tiki, she definitely would be livelier and more energetic as you say and would most certainly contrast more against Marth and Ike whom are two noble and mature swordsman.

Hm...well, then, in that case, I would much rather have adult Tiki. I just like the design more. That said, I'd be happy with either, since I mainly want the dragon.

I do however, see her having a better chance being an Assist Trophy, but I'd actually love to see her playable.

Older Tiki. Awakening was such a successful title and I prefer a connection to that game.

Younger Tiki would represent FE's Manakete mold better however. And there is something interesting about seeing a little girl turn into a dragon.
