So honestly, I'm seeing there emerge a dominant strategy for Hero depending on how the odds for Thwack KO accumulate over percentages.

>game start
>roll for Thwack in the menu
>get Thwack
>from there on out use Thwack in every neutral opening

The possibility of a 1HKO is so rewarding is there a reason to use a neutral opening to land a damaging combo instead of using that same opening to Thwack your opponent? If it's even half scaling (Ex: 100% damage = 50% Thwack KO chance) then once your opponent's at 50% damage you might be better of just using Thwack every chance you get.

And that's not even considering that you might roll something like the sleep spell for free Thwacks to make it even more usable too.

Thwack is useless despite the OHKO potential in the DQ games. Sakurai would want to properly represent this.

Yeah, there's always a catch to moves designed to be this deliberately powerful. thwack is likely to be heavily punishable with loads of startup and endlag similar to how cloud's finishing touch has horrendous range(and is GUARANTEED after certain percents rather than being up to chance).

Twhack can be reflected, despite being a sort of forward explosion. Anyone tried perfect shielding it?

In DW4, Kyril lands it successfully over half the times he casts it. It looks, unfortunately, well represented.

Personally, I don’t think it was a move that needed representation. It could have been given to the Mimic from Hero’s stage instead.

i tested the hit rate of thwack 800 times, at some different percentages

Hit/Miss - Chance (dmg %)
190/200 - 95% chance (150%)
140/200 - 70% chance (130%)
108/200 - 54% chance (100%)
72/200 - 36% chance (50%)

At 50% it's only 36% chance so you're not gonna rob stocks very often, last resort sort of thing?
At 100% It's a little over 50 which may have situational viability but hero has a bunch of kill moves that kill earlier
FWIW more or less guaranteed at 150%,

I've heard people say it can KO at 0%. Is this true, and if so, is the success rate negligible enough to not fear the move?

It can kill at any%, but i just wanted to test how likely and viable of an option it is at reasonable percents

In the Vault->Tips menu (I know, I forgot it existed too), there's an interesting tidbit about Whack/Thwack: "The KO success rate increases as you and your opponent take damage."

Has anyone tested it based on the Hero's own %? If it starts becoming reliable when Hero's at high % and the opponent is still low, that could be a huge gamechanger.
