Any tips?
This is definitely my weakness, getting throwned and than getting ***** by edgeguarding.

I play a lot of throw spammers, and I don't really john about it, but I see some other people not able to play those kind of players, for example, on EGX I see "Don't play
IDidn'tHideThisSoUCanSeeItYouBish
he spams throws".

Current tips :

1. Predict when they will grab. - Vaxany
2. Try to not be so obvious on the directions you roll when you're on the ground - Vaxany
*3. Try not to stay on the ground too much. - Vaxany

Give your tips so I can add them to the list.
This will definitely help not just me but other people who are bad against throw spammers.

liez XD

It's my weakness too. You should see my bro, can't combo but actually wins several matches just by throwing. Cept when I'm Mario, then I grab ***** him back AND combo him. I can only combo people who suck, those that are good, I have to throw spam, though now I'm starting to be able to get combos on those better than me.

First tip, only play P2P, or EXC and above on Kaillera. The number one method I, a grab *****, get my grabs or get grabbed is when someone misses a Z-Cancel. You miss a Z-Cancel, you get grabbed. So don't miss Z-Cancels, or don't play in an area where Z-Cancelling is easy to miss.

Also, don't shield *****, that's asking to get grabbed. :p Or it broke, one of the two.

These you'll have more troubles with when it comes to grab/edgeguard kills;
Ness [both fthrow and bthrow do the same insane knockback]
Pikachu
Mario [can combo into grab with drill, or mess you up with fireballs to get it].
Fox [Really fast, he's just good at so many other things he doesn't need to].

I find it best not to roll at all. Usually, rolling is just asking to get grabbed.

...What character are you playing as?

Try dashdancing if they're literally just throw spamming. Or short hop, bait grab, aerial > combo. Dash back > forward smash also works for some characters. If they're really just spamming grab there's lots of things to do to counter.

If they're mostly koing you through throw > edgeguards, but doing it in an intelligent manner, then there's not really a counter. You just have to outplay them, like you would with anyone.

I must say it's the thing I despise the most and hope that someday people will understand the game is no fun when all you can do is a move to throw to edgeGuard. I'll look forward to some tips about that.

ssb64 is not the greatest game to exercise a pure "play to win" mentality in >.>

because then people will complain about it and call your playstyle boring
That's more of a community issue than a game. But yeah, I see what you mean.

Brawl is the worst smash game to be all "play to win". No, seriously. >_<

You do understand that the physic in 64 is far from being the one in melee, right?
JC grab in Melee turns running grabs into standing grabs, which means getting the grab is the same. Also, shield is better, and L-Cancel is less than Z-Cancel.

I know about melee -_- But you've got plenty more ways to evade grabs of Ics:

1.Ledge stall

2. Wave dash

3.Camping (Minimal with most characters, but Marth's Fsmash can be good)

Few people uses Ics in melee because they suck. Their grab is minimal **** compared to 64

This post doesn't really support your claim that you know about melee -__-

Landing a grab in melee isn't really much harder or easier than in 64 overall. There are characters in both that are really good at getting grabs, and there are characters that aren't so good at it. There are also characters that are really hard to grab, and characters that aren't as hard. Also, ICs don't suck. >.>

To the original question, basically what sheer said. (Above post)

lmfao@Marth camping with fsmash. ICs can just wavedash in and grab after a fsmash.

ICs don't suck. People just suck with ICs. Remember, chaingrabs on most, if not all of the cast? Desynch combos? The freakin' infinite?

Gogo scrubs. You avoid IC grabs with Marth by spacing fairs and aerials. Not fsmash. I ***** so many fsmash Marth players that it wasn't even funny.

this thread is stupid, there's nothing wrong with grabs.
if you're getting grabbed, it's your own fault.. jeez even chaingrabs are less escapable than plain grabs and it's a viable tactic?!?
