For the 11100940293th time, I've been asked my gender. Time to straighten things out with people (and have something to link the next person who asks me...)


1) I am male

2) I have an attraction (emotionally) to certain characters, happens mostly in RPG's but it has happened in other games.

My current avatar is Marta from Tales of Symphonia 2 (I'm lazy, thats not the real game name)

Why is it Marta?

While playing ToS:2, she really reminded me of my current girlfriend. The main character Emil reminded me of me when I was 7... but as the story went on, he started to remind me more and more of myself. I actually substitute him for me in my mind, I've had dreams of crap, etc.

It's not like game characters turn me on, I just grow attached to them like I would a girlfriend in a long distance relationship.

So get this through your head:

I'm just a guy whos attracted to game characters. I even think its pretty pathetic, but I can't help it.

I have a god**** crush on Marta.

And she's pretty =p

If it's really that important to have her as your avatar... which is... umm really not that big of a deal.... SERIOUSLY it's just an avatar.... then keep it, but take the questions for it. But if it's really that big of a deal that you make a whole blog about it... change the **** thing.

Bottom line: if it's that important to you to have that avatar, then just accept the questions, your choice.

About Emil reminding you of yourself... It's normal, and in fact common to project yourself and friends onto characters in video games... movies.. books... I too found that I too was comparing myself to Emil whenever I was playing through the game... xD

An avatar is an identity. It's important to have one that is close to you on some level, be it you made it, it was made for you, or you like the avatar (not in my way of like, but people "like" Snake, so they choose a Snake avatar for example)

I chose this avatar because it represents something to me, it just gets annoying being asked what gender I am.

Gender and Biological Sex are two different things.

Judith Butler's 'Queer Theory' asserts the idea that gender is nothing more than a societal role. Gender and Persona is something that changes as social circumstance requires. For example, you take on a certain persona for your family, as compared to that with your friends.

Butler claims that Gender works in very much the same way. Gender is a social construct of the roles men and women play in society, and we associate different behaviours and personalities with each of them.

Therefore, despite claiming a 'Male Gender' you could still be a woman.
