All those pictures of "wavedashing" were actually dodging.

In pictures, everybody thought that the dust cloud images, or sliding was wavedashing. However, in the update, we can see that that it actually back dodging.

No, definitely not. Look at Wario in last year's November video. Looks nothing like dodging. If anything, this update confirms wavelanding.

What the hell are you talking about? Also, can I have something of what you've been smoking?

The pic to unleash more wave dashing discussion was this one:

Link clearly isn't sidestepping, or rolling, in this picture. There's no evidence proving that wave dashing is gone or that it is in.

Also why the Dylan_tnga reference?

Yes wavedashing is slightly confirmed. With that picture and 2 parts in the trailer with metaknight and pit sliding behind there opponents its slightly confirmed. The whole technique with pressing X/Y to L/R thing isn't going to be it i bet. Most likely it is a technique made by doing a simple button.

I think he supposed to be running. But we don't see the animation because of the smoke effect and gets hit by Metaknignt the second after he lands. If anything, that "slide" is either caused by the little incline there or Wario must have really low friction (Think Luigi).

Dang. That gif looks like definite proof that it exists. Shame. WDing is horribly broken glitch-exploitation, and really doesn't seem like how Smash was ment to be played, with Marth sliding backwards instead of running across the stage.

We still have other proof >_>

Read my post. I said in the trailers you can see pit and metaknight slide backwards and attack there opponents.

lol, in the new update it never said anything about air dodging, and that is what wavedashing was all about in Melee, so if they don't pair airdodging with the regular dodges I doubt they even have it

The dust makes it hard to see, but Wario is definitely stepping after he lands. He isn't dodging.

Remember how awkward he runs? only his feet move.

Odd.
About that Wario GIF, it's odd that I've never seen it before. I doubt it's Wavedashing though, simply because it just seems unlikely Sakurai would display such a thing in a movie like that.

That and I have a sinking feeling WD is gone for Brawl...

No you can't. If you freeze the frame, you can clearly see that this "slide" is actually a very short hop backward. It's a dodge, not a wavedash.

if Sakurai just confirmed that dodging is back, than how could air dodging NOT be back? What else would the shield button do when in the air? So, the way I see it, if air-dodging is back, than air-dodging in a direction while landing is back, and thus wavedashing is back. I would also assume that most forms of teching have returned. This is all based upon the fact that the defensive setup for Brawl now seems to be the same as Melee (thank god).

and lets not just disregard this: "Use these moves as much as you can even before you get used to them. Sometimes things become clearer that way."

pretty sure he's alluding to all the other techniques involving dodging.

No there hasn't been any proof of wavedashing (either that it is in or that it isn't). The Eldin Bridge pic can be pretty much anything, wario is dashing in the clip, and today's update only confirms shielding and dodging. Supposedly they will keep air dodging instead of replacing it for air-shielding (that would be weird, and definitely would kill wavedashing).

So no, you can only speculate whether WD will return or not, but we haven't seen any proof. Probably won't see any either, until we get to play the game and see for ourselves.

Personally, i hope it doesn't return, but i do want to have advanced techniques. It's just that wavedashing looked pretty ugly, and i'd prefer the battles to be more aesthetic and smooth. If they implement an advanced technique that also makes the fight look well, it's welcome.

It makes no sense to me....
Why do people dislike wavedashing so much? Because they can't do it? lol.
And it's not like the most useful thing in the world, but it is pretty useful if you use it right.

To me it makes no sense to not have wavedashing in brawl. Why would nintendo take it out of smash? Because of this stupid theory about it being an exploited glitch or something?

It wouldn't make sense to air-dodge into the ground and to stop short as if nothing happened, that's just stupid.

It has to do with the physics of the game; some characters are more floaty and slidy than others. I don't understand why wavedashing is a 'bad' thing in the eyes of most noobs. Yes, most NOOBS.

It seems the only time I hear someone complain about wavedashing and I play them, they end up sucking terribly. It's not because I'm "exploiting a glitch and thus have an advantage" because that's just one of those noobish complaints. Yes, NOOBISH complaints.

Out of all the techs, wavedashing seems to be the most hated for NO GOOD REASON.

"Why would they take it out?" Holds no water I'm afraid. That argument is useless.

I'd say that it's the most hated because it's the most known. And yes, i fully agree that it isn't a shameless glitch or exploit (i also concur that it wasn't intended). I just find it ugly, especially when abused.

Wario's just running when he hits the ground. Only his feet move remember, and that dust is blocking the view of his feet suspiciously, but you can clearly see he's running just before Meta-Knight hits him. And by the looks of it, he has low traction, like Luigi.

Well, apparently you can dash AT THE EXACT MOMENT YOU LAND so it serves the same purpose as wavelanding... except with this, scrubs will just have to deal with it instead of crying "glitch"

Honestly, i hope wavedashing gets removed so we can all laugh as the scrubs struggle to find something else to complain about. I'm just a little dissapointed that we won't be able to hear their pathetic cries over brawl's crappy online mode.

Why does someone have to make one of these stupid ****ing threads every time a trailer shows a bit of dust or you see someone dodging? We already knew dodging is in the game, and the only thing left to determine whether or not WDing and Wavelanding are possible is if there is a special landing animation for wavedashing into the ground rather than the melee slide.

I agree wit the person who said we should all message nintendo power or whoever it is who is testing the game out first and ask them to check for it. I couldnt find who posted that but he is thinking in the right direction

In the latest update they confirm the roll-dodges and the side-step but I didn't see anything about air-dodging. If they remove air-dodging (which I really hope they don't), I doubt wavedashing will be in Brawl.

Air dodging has already been confirmed, correct? There have been countless screenshots of it, if i remember correctly.
