First off, there are no threads on one of the manliest guys around, so dont be complainin'.

The Knee of Death

This thread is to talk about possible moveset changes, technique loss and the aftermath, the manliness of Falcon, and more! And even possibly, how he could compare to other characters in Brawl. Perhaps, even graphical changes.

Shall we discuss?

To get this started, I'm going to post a little changes to his moveset.

B= The Falcon Punch. Ahhh, the most epic punch ever created. I could see a possible lag loss here and there and a bit faster.

B->= Raptah Bewst. Simple changes, such as a bit faster getting up when he crashes into the ground or such.

B-V= Falcon Kick. Another sort of epic move for Falcon. He slides his foot on the ground while on fire. Possibly, I could see this move actually being removed. Not saying it shouldnt be in, but it does seem a bit too much like Raptor Boost. That or Raptor Boost being removed. Nothing really to change for this.

B-^= That Jump Move (Yeah. Called it that.). Dunno why, but I REALLY despised this move in Melee and 64, because of the wide-open'ness of the thing. Its like a jumping target really. Even though techniques can kinda bypass that, still. I want it nerfed or changed. Perhaps faster, and after he flips, you can do another attack, but NOT the Up-B.

Possible FS: F Zero Car OR Fire-based Madness move.

Now. I'll post a pros/cons list from Melee so you can possibly discuss them about how they could change/leave/be better.

Pros

Fastest dashing character in the game
Fast falling lends speed to his air game.
His running speed and high lateral air speed give him the game's longest and fastest long jump, allowing him to close great distances with short hop aerials and edge-guard faraway enemies.
The trajectory of his aerials complements his speed, allowing him effectively combo all characters.
Aerials easily chain into one another on about every character. (Low percent fast fallers an exception)
Low lag aerials
Most resistant character to vertical KOs with his combination of weight and falling speed.
His fair (the knee) is a powerful, low-trajectory finisher
The best dashdancer in the game
One of the best out-of-grab games available.
The game's best moonwalker
Has one of the fastest backwards rolls in the game and a good forward roll

Cons

Due to Falcon's fast falling speed, enemies can combo him very easily.
His up-B cannot attack people hanging on the edge, making him extremely vulnerable to edge-guarders
Low range
Slow and poor ground attacks
No projectile
Reliant on his knee to gain early kills.
Slow techrolls.

Well. As Falcons famous catchphrase said... (And Youkos podcast name, as well as many other puns...)

"SHOW ME YA MOVES!"

Falcon Kick and Raptor Boost are wildly-different moves. The only thing the two moves have in common is that performing either one will result in Captain Falcon being propelled forward. Outside of that, they're pretty... not similar at all.

I have no idea why Captain Falcon isn't already a confirmed character for this game. I mean the roster is shaping up to be pretty sweet. I just saw today that King Dedede was added. That's pretty cool. So is the addition of Meta Knight. I know Samurai Goroh is a confirmed assist trophy...but how come Capt. Falcon isn't in the game? That should be a no brainer. He was in the first two and I know a bunch of people who like to use him...myself included. PUT HIM IN BRAWL NINTENDO!!!

Honestly, they seem the same to me for a few reasons.

1) Both crash-like effects
2) Same sliding onto the ground stuff, but Boost is like Kick (Comes from arm though) and can shield break and such. But once he gets it through it seems like F-Kick.

"That Jump Move" should be called "Air-****". I was on Corneria stage Melee with Gannondorf practicing, and I was Air-****** with Gannondorf at the back of the stage. The guy was standing on top of the upper wing, and I repeatedly Air-****[B/]d him, hence the word "****".

Cap'n Crunch didn't have any memes, some pissheads thought it was funny to put Capt. Falcon on top of Chuck Norris on the CHUCK NORRIS memes. Regardless, neither were funny.

Sadly it's probably not a Falcon Punch that goes instantly with no Flinch, it's probably some stupid cars.

Here's my Final Smash thought :

FS - Phoenix Punch (SNAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAKE!!)

C.Falcon spawns a fiery Phoenix behind his back and is granted the ability to fly around the stage much like Yoshi, but at a much faster rate. During the Final Smash, he'll be able to deliver powerful punches (Anime?) while having the Phoenix burn everything it touches.

My idea sucks, but hey.

just saw something maybe reconfirming c. falcon.

on the dojo all the assist trophies that also have playable characters from their game have an appropriate symbol for their game while all the ATs without another playable character from their game like devil, saki amamiya, excite bike, little mac, dr. wright, etc. have the smash bros. symbol... except for Samurai Goroh who has a c. falcon symbol. so this shows that just assist trophies.

this confirm c. falcon?

and maybe deconfirm a playable sin and punishment character?

Here's my idea for a Falcon FS.

When he grabs the Smash Ball, he presses a few buttons on one of his gloves, and the Falcon Flyer (that gold ship on Big Blue) comes in. Falcon's taunts become the controls for the Flyer, and while in motion, the Flyer's sides and bottom damage opponents. However, the top of the Flyer is safe to stand on, essentially making it a controllable platform. Falcon himself can still be controlled, which makes him a target, but also sets up some great combo opportunities (uthrow to knee to Flyer ram), or you could just get them onto the top and distract them long enough to make them SD by flying the Flyer off the screen.
The Flyer lasts up to 30 seconds. If it flies too far off the screen, it disappears early.

Sure, it's no galaxy-shattering Falcon Punch, but that would be cheap anyways.

Falcon was confirmed the instant Sakurai started Brawl. Smash Bros without Falcon is like Mario Bros with Mario.

And I really hope his FS isn't something with F-Zero racers... even though I enjoy F-Zero games, it still wouldn't fit Falcon's place in Smash Bros as much as an all out physical attack by the man himself.

I have a great idea for Captain Falcon's Final Smash. While everyone has probably said the super Falcon Punch of sorts, the problem is...it'd be REALLY hard to hit with. So, just how powerful could it be? Here's my hypothesis on the Falcon Punch, Final Smash style.

This is the kind of attack that'll only hit one person. Whoever is closest to Captain Falcon when he triggers the Final Smash, he'll charge right for them, no matter where they are. They can be in the air, on the ground, wherever. But he'll rush them as if he were flying, the essence of a falcon, coming at you top speed. Unless you dodge at the very last second which is pretty difficult to do, you're finished. And shielding against it will not help. If you shield, he'll merely break and you will still take the full blow of the Falcon Punch.

Unlike the Falcon Punch that's his standard move? This one is MUCH easier to hit with, and the perk is that this is an instant KO. Either that or you must be extremely lucky not to hit the edge of the stage. It'd be amazing to watch Captain Falcon just soar towards an opponent, grab them which gives the player the realization that there is NO escaping what is about to happen.

Captain Falcon's Final Smash. The true Falcon Punch. I say this is what it should be.

My opinion on the good Captain: I think that his Side B should be replaced by a shot from his sidearm to replace the Raptor Boost, which does nothing on the ground that the Falcon Kick couldn't do better or even just as well, and served as a useless spike in the air. Final Smash should be A) a Super Falcon Punch ala that one 35 second clip from the anime or B) the Falcon Fire Storm, a super rapid combo of punches, kicks, and knees, all ending with a masive punch.

call me crazy and lets get that out of the way--i'd like to predict my flames

we are all anxious to see ganondorf return, as he was a clone of the original captain falcon, only powered up like a mofo--there are others who have become accustomed to his play style and would like to see him return as he is a captain clone, others who only wish for some retaining moves, and others who want him all new

my question actually spands three characters:
If having them in meant they would be clones

FOR THE LOVE OF GOD EMPHASIS ON THE IF THIS IS A HYPOTHETICAl QUESTION!! NO SAKURAI QUOTES COMMENTS OR THE TRUTH GOD****IT WE"RE ALL WELL AWARE OF THE REALITY!

if it meant they'd be included as clones, would you want to see ganondorf AND :gasp!: mach rider enter the brawl, or would you rather see them unique then not at all?? your opinions

also who thinks we could see some of the
64 captain's moves
in those two "potential" new comers??

i only use the word potential because nothing has been confirmed... at the dojo... by sakurai... literally saying one thing or another.... as in "Ganondorf is in"-- or --"Mach Rider is an assist trophy"

no ness theories--"up until now" means up until now zelda was a blonde but she is not a brunette so sheik cannot be in rabble rabble rabble!! :lick:

yea i feel ya, and you figured ganondorf would've inherited in but no he got like some earth quake stuff-- on a whole other level lol

i'd be interested in seeing whether or not they bring back to old sound effect. I'd imagine if anything they didn't capture the feel they wanted in smash64 so they reverted to a gunshot or something but with the clones, character individuality would have to be shifted to more of a bird of prey then the token fire guy

why would he be confirmed

he was a secret in the original--with all the newcomers announced it would make sense that a few secrets be from the not so secret category

nothing is farther from the truth, here try this: play a game of falcon vs samus and have the samus player shoot smash missiles at you; if you time it well, raptor boost goes under the missile and hits samus. The reason this works is because falcon gets low off the ground, a sort of crouch if you will and thus high hitting projectiles go above his head. This can work (if timed well) against mewtwo's shadow ball, samus' semi-big bomb, link's arrows or bombs, etc etc etc. Falcon kick has nothin on that :/

on the other hand falcon kick is good for going horizontally in the air off of platforms and generally annoying people, not much beyond that. No I'd have to say as far as usefulness is concerned, teh bewst wins :lick:

although like you said, raptor boost in air is total epic lose
