OoC: Everyone I've spoken to can't wait for things to get underway (including myself), and I'd actually suggest we use Ryker's bracket but switch myself and Sold2. That gives us at least a semblance to the matches you initially suggested while keeping the structure of the tournament as a whole very sound.

Comfort Man's eyes were now looking at Bear's ridiculous nipples. Comfort Man thought deeply about how odd it was that a male's chest looks so much like a face. When Comfort Man stared at Bear's body, Bear's body stared back.

Cactus just stared at the arena, but then he got hungry, so he needed some water and dirt/sand to eat from. He found a good spot, but needed water. He noticed a small stand, he asked for water and recieved 3 bottles of Chippendale water. He drang it all then went back to the arena, opened his arms pointing up and began to eat off sunlight to help him out. While his body was metal, he could still absorb the sunlight into his metal which would go into his body.
Magic armor for a cactus was very handy.

The oil on Bear's body began to turn him into a sort of human disco ball of muscles! He flashed and glittered every where. Comfort Man could do nothing but watch in horror as Bear's body radiated in the lights of the stadium.

Comfort Man pondered what in the world dish strt fighting was. What a stupid thought, why did he think that anyways? He returned his attention to Bear's perfectly sculpted chest. In the back of his mind, however, he couldn't help but feel that a bed was getting mad at him...

Suddenly time felt confusing and manipulative. Everything swirled around our heroes as they lost consciousness and everything faded to black.
"Are you even listening, everyone?!" Aldre almost yelled. "You all know the setup and your first opponent, now please move to the stands if you are spectating, the first fight will be Bed vs. Bear." Aldre chuckled to himself.
Tery, feeling slightly dazed and confused, slowly walked towards the stands to observe the match.

Comfort Man snapped to attention... was he just day dreaming. Day dreaming about... Bear? Comfort Man moved to the stands. His eyes slowly began to close, the mental toll of day dreaming taking effect he imagined. But they would not go beyond halfway. Something just felt right about leaving them open. Comfort Man bought a pennant cheering for Bear. He did not know who this Bed fellow was, and this Bed fellow was likely a ruffian.
It would appear the good captain of many a time voyage would be the only one to remember the staring contest.

Meg blinked and wondered why everyone was acting differently. The beer guy was back in the stands, the bear guy named Bear was no longer in a staring contest, and Comfort Man was back in his seat. Glancing at Sal, she saw that he was acting like nothing happened, and she began to be a bit worried.
She tugged on the sleeve of an official. "Hey, what's going on? I thought that Bear and Mr Comfort were about to fight?"

OoC: Tery, set a deadline for matches so there's some pressure on people to actually play.
Hearing the announcement of the first match, Drall felt his curiosity piqued. He had never seen Bear fight -- not from a spectator's point of view, at least. Since Bear had proven himself able to stand toe to toe with him on numerous occasions, Drall reasoned that observing his technique could prove very informative.
He turned to Johnny. "I'll see you around, Tealbeard."
And then he was leaping up into the scaffolding once again after a quick climb up some loose bricks, disappearing into the shadows above.

I'm going to be lenient as it is the holidays.
Comfort Man idly thought about what he would be getting for Christmas. He then realized that he had no friends and Santa Claus stopped visiting him ever since he moved out. Comfort Man cried a little. He then awkwardly tried to pretend he was just getting something out of his eye. It's times like this that he wish he wore sunglasses.
I'm going out of town for a week, might wanna rearrange us, or just give Bed the win.

Comfort Man hated cacti. He moved to the ring. But first things first he went back to the stands in an entirely serious and not sweet manner and called to Lars for a beer. He took it purposefully in one hand and walked slowly back to the middle of the arena, as to not drop anything.

...damn it all. Bed had hoped he would have more time than this.
Unbeknownst to the other participants of the tournament, a far more sinister power appeared to be at work. Bed had watched in silence as the shadow men lurched into the arena, their heads hanging low and fingers dragging the ground. One by one, they slowly embraced the combatants as Bed watched on in horror. None of his 'friends' had the slightest idea that their lives were already lost.
But then, inspiration. Bed quickly wheeled over to the time pirate and tapped into the his time crystals. He would need every second if he was going to make this work...
Bed focused, and began his last resort. He could only hope these warriors had the strength to survive the task at hand, because if they failed there was no telling where the damage would stop.
As the world seemed to slip into darkness for the fighters, they could hear Bed's voice in their minds...
"I cannot fight them for you. The best I can do is level the playing field."
This... is the Calamity.

A mere moment after the blackout, the world snapped back into place. Comfort Man's beer was still in mid-flight, and the shadow men were gone. Bed breathed a sigh of relief, though he wondered...
