(Something like Walking with Monsters, Dinosaurs, and Beasts all mashed together!)

The amount of Mario Kart Tour tracks in 8 make me think this is an attempt to preserve those tracks when the mobile game finally dies off, because in the future people will emulate these versions of the tracks.

Agreed. They really need to do more prehistoric documentaries on lesser known prehistoric beasties notably Australian megafauna or South American megafauna in the Miocene such as Thylacosmilus or Epicyon of North America.

Also, something to keep in mind is that Nintendo's yet to confirm they've made more than $200 million from MKT microtransactions, while MK8D has sold 50 million, meaning it's probably made 10x as much money. It's no wonder they'd want to port MKT tracks to 8.
