Ah... Ness a veteran of smash... In Super smash bros 64, Ness' Spike was devastating. It could easily send your opponents downwards... They had very little to no hope of ever coming back to the stage. This was the all mighty Left foot...

However a bit before the release of Melee, Ness suffered a horrible accident... Ness decided he was going to spike his hardest before the game came out, this way his Spike will prove to have more power than he was showing. Sadly Ness injured his Left leg in the process as he sent the opponent downwards at forces only seen at 999%. He had to under go surgery.... The doctors said he will never spike again. They were right...

Ness could no longer send opponents downwards with his left leg. He had to switch legs. Ness learned how to use his right foot to send his foes downwards. Sadly the doctors were right, he could no longer spike at all... It was now a meteor smash that could be meteor canceled. He had to accept this fate in Melee...

Years later Ness returns in brawl. His left leg is still unusable for sending opponents downwards. However all the meteors in Melee did train his right foot to meteor better... He now had more hit stun when meteor smashing, it can still be meteor canceled though.

Ness foot will never be the same after that pre-melee accident. Perhaps one day Ness will be able to use his left leg to spike... It is unlikely but Ness is a hard trainer even if he can't use his left leg again, someday his right leg may have the power like his left leg...

R.I.P Ness' Left Leg

(Whole point of this, to point out the fact that Ness used to use his left leg)

Oh oh I have one. There is a reason why Ness swings his bat a lot slower now. In 64, while Ness had a sort of fast swing, he neglected his bat for his more useful yo-yos.

During the transition to Melee, his yo-yos broke so he had to buy new ones. These new yo-yos while fancy were not as good as his old yo-yos (except for its uncanny ability to drop hitboxes O_O). Instead, he focused on the power of his bat. As he practiced, he got a whole lot faster and was able to send the opponents far.

The overusing of the bat made it crack (lol Earthbound reference, cracked bat) before brawl. Ness needed a new one, so he bought another. This bat was much heavier than his old bat. It utilized his melee swing, but instead of swinging fast, he now swung much harder than before. As for his yo-yos, well I haven't thought of that.

Ref, the thread should be something like Ness transitions in between games. I'm pretty sure there are others with creative ideas around here.

Good story Gaussis but Ness' bat is longer in Melee than brawl. Maybe I'm misreading this part:

The overusing of the bat made it crack (lol Earthbound reference, cracked bat) before brawl. Ness needed a new one, so he bought another. This bat was much longer, yet much heavier than his old bat. It utilized his melee swing, but instead of swinging fast, he now swung much harder than before. As for his yo-yos, well I haven't thought of that.
So yes people will have creative stories but I wanted to focus on the oddNess of switching feet...

I did not know that. Maybe its because it was hard for me to land the bat (ironically I land it more in brawl and it's slower ).

EDIT: What I find strange is that he no longer lags after PKT2 (in melee he shakes after PKT or PKT2 ended on the ground).

EDIT 2: I'll change the story so as to not get more posts like those Ref...

If only Ness could spike with both of his feet like Ganondorf.

Ness used to fly with his entire body back in the 64 days. Now he headbutts.

His head is the most powerful physical attack in the game after all (in brawl).

Game designers were planning on doing that, but they realized that giving Ness the ability to use both wouldsend characters through the bottom of your television, freak out the children of America, cause their parents to stop buying Nintendo equipment, run themselves out of business, increase the tensions between Sony and Microsoft, make them overproduce gaming hardware to the point where America was overflowing with them, the electricity of the nation suddenly surged, caused huge financial issues in the country which would lead to a large chain of debt and borrowing money from other nations, thus plunging the would into world war 3.

Nintendo is a smart boy.

Now Ref, dont EVER make a title like that again. You scared the crap out of me. I thought you found something about Ness spike that made it less useful :(

Ness bat in 64 was the legendary bat. He pwned so much that he managed to defeat 128 opponents, one of which who dropped the gutsy bat for use in Melee. But after that bat had served him so well, he had earned the Casey bat which appealed to him due to its high offensive ability. Uknowingly, Ness decided to take it not realizing that its ability to hit was MUCH lower than his gutsy bat. Darn it Ness, that offense stat is LYING to you.

In 64, Ness had the combat yo-yo. Most powerful yo-yo ever, but Ness wanted to have some cool glitches, so he got rid of that and decided to buy the much cooler, but less effective trick yo-yo for Melee. Ness earned a YYG with his new trick yo-yo, but it was much less powerful. Troubled, Ness turned to Jeff for advice. He said he would combine the two yo-yos. Now Ness. Brawl yo-yo is a tricky combat tool with more knockback than Melee and a glitch to boot :bee:

Im so obsessed with EB now. Curse you Ness community!
