Technically E3 2001 (in which the Melee opening which featured Melee was first shown) was in May, so it would be 13 years and just over 4 months...

Or if we're talking Smash 69, that was January 1999, so that was about 15 years and 8 months.

All-Star Mode Didn't have Ridley Yet, Because he indeed was not yet unlocked.

Only marks against Ridley at the moment at subjective so hopefully it stays that way, would be nice if we got some more info on pyrosphere. But I wonder what comes 1st, Ridley confirmed or the true nature of Pyrosphere (what stage hazards and/or bosses it has if any).

Imagine Ridley being revealed as a stage boss just to have Sakurai reveal him as playable as well later or the next day.

Honestly, I think the possibility of Ridley being both a stage boss and character may be valid... but the "stage boss" Ridley would merely be playable Ridley who sometimes pops out of the background, and is otherwise identical to playable Ridley. That's how I think it'd work. He'd just be an extra character that sometimes pops into the stage to fight, until he's actually unlocked.

This would also explain the appearance of Brinstar. Ridley flew around in the background, as I recall. Ridley could pop out of the background on Brinstar as well.


Although I still don't get why Brinstar has acid in it. The original Brinstar never had acid, that was Norfair.

As long as Shokio wouldn't make a video on how he was right and further increase his ignorent god complex, I'd be okay with it

Honestly, I think with the advent of Riki being both an assist trophy and Shulk FS, the possibility of a Stage Hazard and Character Ridley co-existing isn't terribly .

I was just looking over Ridley shadow analysis videos and noticed a similarity between the way his shadow looks, and his appearance in the melee intro. I can't attach any links because I don't have enough posts (dammit), but I think they might have a modified version of that appearance

I've never played the original Metroid but in Zero Mission(and I think Super Metroid) there were a few rooms in Brinstar with acid in them. Norfair has acid AND lava in it.

Conceptly is this Other M concept art for Ridley.

Conceptly is more of a mix between Other M boss fight Ridley and past versions of Ridley. He looks a bit bigger, but isn't nearly as bulky as boss battle Ridley and his beak doesn't look horrendous. Roidly is the Other M boss fight against Ridley.

Conceptly is this Other M concept art for Ridley.

You mean Ridley is the final version of Ridley Metroid: Other M, Conceptly is the Other M concept. You need to specify "Other M" in that first post, the main Ridley design pre-Other M looks identical (with minor tweaks) to Super Metroid Ridley.

I maintain that adding a King Ghidorah-esque giggle that makes sense in context (read: taunts and victory screen) would do wonders for establishing his sapience.
