It sucks that Layton isn't playable.
Hoping for content in the game at the very least now.
To be honest I feel like I've been given false hope for Layton the whole time now, considering the games are published by Nintendo outside of Japan, almost everyone thinks he's a Nintendo character and thinks he's a shoo-in for the game, when the reality is he's just a third-party and it hinders his chances in being playable.

He's not shown as the guest character in the game, so I think it means Layton is not playable.

Well, when it comes to Third Party characters, you would think that such important characters that serve as major selling points for the game would be mentioned on the box art. While not out of the question, it would be very odd for them to keep a Third Party character hidden in the game.

The Layton games are some of my favorites. I would love to see him as a 3rd party character, but I just don't think he'd fit in well with the other 3rd parties. Holding he has a spot for Smash 5 though!

More or less if Rayman is anything to go by at least. But most likely not as playable as I explained in the previous page (Also I think someone said that the text advertising Sonic, Megaman and Pac-Man says that these are all the playable guests or something along those lines)

They are plenty of good-looking Layton Miis out there, especially for Tomodachi life, it's the closest thing to a playable Layton.

It's very easy to recreate the Layton cast very accurately with Mii Maker due to their very simplistic designs..... Well at least Layton, Luke, Flora, Emmy and Barton are.

Perhaps I won't just make a Layton Mii fighter, but some of the other characters too....

But yeah, today is a bit of a sad day for us Layton supporters even though I knew he most likely wouldn't be playable. I do still hope he gets a trophy at the very least though.... :/

Let me say it right here: Layton was THE most deserving third party character after the ones we already have. SEVEN Nintendo exclusive games, and how many millions sold? Seriously, if he doesn't get at least some representation, it's a freaking shame! Hopefully he will at least join Kyle Hyde and get a trophy...

These are some nice suggestions too. But for some reason I kinda feel "We will miss you, and our Unwound Future" would fit the best, but I guess that's just my opinion.

The trademarks are mainly for the characters on the box from what I've heard. The thing that makes me highly doubtful of Layton (and Snake for that matter) is that he isn't showcased alongside Sonic, Pac-Man and Megaman.

I doubt they would keep Layton a secret and not showcase him with the other guest characters so I personally feel that this is more or less it for Layton in terms of his potential chances as a playable character.

Yeah, the voting is certainly taking longer than I was hoping it would.... You know, I think I should just go ahead and title it "We will miss you, and our Lost Future" So it's kind of like a mix of both the US and EU lines of Claire from the last game of the original trilogy. I kinda like it too and it fits well imo.

I think I'll title it like this instead (Still debating with myself whether or not to include "invitation"at the end though)

Anyway, I suppose I should look a bit more onto the Mii fighters and see what kind of suitable moveset I could come up with for the Layton Mii or something (and perhaps maybe some of the other characters too).

Do we know yet the full costumizable moveset of all three Mii classes? Or at least the Swordfighter and Brawler? :/

Invitation sounds like a title Level-5 would make for their official game, sure put Invitation if you want. XD
I think we only know all of the customizable special moves just for Mii Brawler specifically.
I hope there's a fencing sword in the customization moveset.

Alrighty, invitation included.

Yeah now that I've checked, it's mainly the Brawlers.... Okay, guess we could probably look into a moveset for Emmy at least (and perhaps Luke) since she's a bit of a brawler herself.

We do know the costumizable side specials of the swordfighters at least....

Hmm.... which one could you imagine Layton using if he had any of these abilities? :/

At least from what's been confirmed, I checked the Smash Wiki but I guess I should look up the trailer again just to be sure.

And yes, I agree. If you like we can also fit together a moveset for other Layton characters too. Especially those who fit the Brawler type as we do know all their costumizable moves.

Well at least Luke tries to be a good Brawler.....

I agree, so from this list, I'd see Emmy use
* the Last one for her Standard Special.
* The First one for her Side Special
* The Middle one for her Up Special
* and the Middle one for her Down Special.

For Luke, I'd go with.
* The First one for his Standard Special
* The Last one for his Side Special
* The First one for his Up Special
* and the First one for his Down Special
