I think there are places that sell them online, right? I remember seeing a couple of 'em for like ten bucks when I was rooting around.

havent tested quality yet though

and n64 contrllers are a dime a dozen, you can get them from japan by the 100's. same with consoles. horipad minis go for sale in japan for like 200 yen aswell. Japanese smash 64 carts can go as low as 30 yen

That's great! Let me just fire up my teleporter and I'm off to Japan!

Also, huh? Can you link to exactly where to get a "pre set up" N64-GC fusion controller?

There are a couple others as well that are "proffessionally cleaned and blah blah blah", meaning that they'll work pretty much as well as a new one. They sell for like $40-$50.

Cheaper just to buy a used one for $10 from a guy who swears the joystick's tight and then replace the joystick for $10 after you learn that it isn't.

Yeah, you can get good ones much cheaper than this, but was to lazy to find one.

I'm pretty sure if I bought a brand new controller and had to shell out $60, I wouldn't play with it, and would instead keep it on my mantle, and gaze at it every night.

Basically that's what I do. I have so many fresh joystick controllers in my room, and everyone's always searching for good ones. It's kind of sad. I just use the "ok" ones for casual play because the way I hold the controller it makes less of a difference for me. So when they do go really bad, I just grab the next fresh one.

Also, I would highly recommend going to a Play-N-Trade (if you have one locally).
They're like $15 bucks for an official used controller. 4/5 where probably used for Mario party; but they'll usually have one in stock that was randomly traded in with a perfect joystick. My local Play-N-Trade also does joystick swapping, so you can have that nice joystick on a Sailor Moon skin controller or whatever.

or get a 3rd party, they're everywhere... -________-

My play n trade takes all official controllers and bundles them with systems. Maybe I could convince them to order some n64 joysticks or something? Where do you buy new joysticks?

I think the main reason we all want official controllers is because of the compatibility with USB adapters. I'm actually not sure how third-party controllers handle since I've never actually used one, but if it handles just like a genuine one, then something like that would be perfect for casual console play.

Yeah I'm interested in this too.

Although the nice thing about the Virtual Console version of SSB is that you can use the awesome GameCube controller and Nintendo still sells the fancy white ones with the longer cord in Japan. Check out this unboxing video.

I'm gonna have to order another one since I gave mine to a friend whose GC pad had worn out.
