I have no intentions of ever becoming a mod, nor am I good enough to do so, so I'm gonna point out that letting candidates nominate themselves is an awful way of selecting a mod.

Have the community nominate, THEN post 'resumes'.

Of course, this is all conjecture, as the section hasn't even applied to have a mod.

Who cares about a mod it's not that big of a deal

The only things that would be better with a mod are:

1) Merging simple question threads into the Ask a question sticky
2) Ending dumb flame wars like near vs s2j

I find that if I posted why I should be a mod, it would just be an ego booster.

If it is up to the community..people will vote for whoever their friend is, or against someone due to some online struggle, which is the problem with nominations.
