PR UPDATE

Hello everyone.

This post is to address the current status of the Kentucky Brawl PR from my perspective. Please note that I have not spoken to the other panelists before creating this post so this view is my view alone.

During the Summer of 2013, I was sitting at my desk job pondering over what would help create hype for a scene that I care a great deal about. Old school Kentucky Brawl players can probably remember how passionate I was at making sure people were included in our scene and how much I went out of my way for those people. A lot has changed since then, people have come and gone, hype has dimmed out a bit, etc. To try and rebuild this hype, I wanted to do everyone a favor and take initiative on creating a PR that could raise the interest of the people in this state and even our region. I wanted to show ourselves and others just how good we really are. And all bias aside, I do believe that Kentucky has a heck of a lot of potential. Therefore, I was set on beginning a new PR with new and efficient guidelines with regular updates.

This wasn't impossible to achieve, but just like my nature, I always try to tackle more than I can ever do. It's already hard enough to keep up with school the way I do on top of trying to be a responsible adult. Growing up can get in the way at times and it really has for me. Lately, I've been trying to work on myself and my own happiness. In doing so, I am completing school this semester, I've lost 40 lbs in 3 months, and I've been looking into what I want for my future. Smash will always be a part of my future, but it can't always be my priority like I wish it could. Accepting this has been one of the hardest things to get a grip of as silly as that might sound to some of you. But it isn't silly to me. Smash has been my escape from reality. It's kept me going and pushed me to better myself. My competitive mindset that I've developed through Smash is something I carry with me in life everywhere I go. It isn't always about winning, but it's always about bettering myself.

With that said, I don't know what the future holds for our Kentucky Brawl PR. I still want it to keep going. And I know that I have a set of panelists that can put in the work. But what I don't know is if they can take the initiative that I can't at the moment. Instead of pressuring us on when the next PR is due, motivate us. Encourage us. I'd like to think I picked a group of reliable people, but we're all going to slack off at times. Even myself. I want to pick up that slack soon, meet with them, and come up with a plan to help get this PR back on the track it deserves to be on. You guys need something to fight for. You guys need motivation and to some of you, the PR is that motivation. I sincerely apologize for not being as on top of it as I should. I love you guys. I have so much to be thankful for from this community and I love giving back. Within this post aren't direct solutions to this problem. But I do want you guys to know that I still care and still plan to find a way to get this PR back on its feet where it belongs.
