This is the official thread for the luigi semi chaingrab (F-throw)

Ok, so luigi's Fthrow is a semi chain-grab on some characters but not others. For some characters (e.g. Ike) they land and luigi can grab them again. For others The land flat on their face and luigi can't grab them after they hit the ground.

We've found out (roughly) why it happens but who it happens to isn't yet clarified.

Why it happens:

it happens because the fthrow on throws them so far, and because of their waight and fall speed, if they do th e wrong thing you have enough time to grab them again. only works about 2 times if it even works at all.
If any of you have got a more descriptive reason then post it.

Characters who we know can be Chain-Grabed:

Ike
Captain Falcon*
Ganon*
Bowser*

*could someone clarify these*

This thread is for disscusing and finding out how usefull it is.

Wishing Apex 2012 happened again.
I'm pretty sure Luigi can chain grab on the heavier characters, like D3 and Ganon. but it's more of a psuedo chain grab wise which im sure of that too. When you fthrow someone, espically at low %s, they only have a few options, 1) airdodge 2) aerial attack. When they hit the ground your basically gonna have to techchase.

yeah its not a real chaingrab, you can di away and ariel out of it, and it only works for like. 1 or 2 throws.

i think youc an do it on ike, captain falcon? ganon bowser.. i think thats it. its rell nto that useful, except on ike. form middle opf the stage, fthrow to fthrow to fthrow to fair to ledgehog is instant kill esentailly, better to throw an extra fair or dair in tho.

if its a legitimate CG, then it probably works with fox since he falls so fast...unles the fthrow has D3 CG properties, and needs people to me mediumweight-fat. idk, but if it works on ike, then probably fox

no it's not legitimate.

And I'll change it so that I say it's a semi chain grab

this thread isn't for how useless it is, it's for why it happens and who it happens to.

You get grabed then thrown where you can be dash grabed again and there you go.

Exactly. Is that not how this works? Like with Falco's CG, it works because it stuns for a good amount of time, and they don't go very far so with correct timing, you can go regrab them.

That's why luigi's chain grab isn't a true chain grab and is only semi chaingrab.

This is why there aren't many new progressions in Luigi's game; because people are so quit to shut down different aspects of Luigi without testing it. I'd test it, but I'm going on vacation tommorow so that won't be an option for me. I'll be sure to look into this once I get back though. No one's time wasted besides my own.

Ok not everything in the game is a waste...
Then ask yourself this why would they make it available to you if it didn't have a point?

They don't put stuff like this in intentionally. Especially not something as useless as Luigi's god awful CG.

I think a cool infinite thingy for Luigi is you down throw, and then jab them quickly, down throw, jab, down throw, jab... It's not that great, but it's something. I think it works on Fox the best maybe.

If know, why don't we just put down in documentation so we don't have discussions like this again. Wasting time because we are at the cusp of groundbreaking developments in the metagame anyways.

tripping.

What if it has uses that we don't know of?

Something to think about.
weve alredy explored every "use" fro this psuedo. it really has no use. d throw combos are 99.9% of the time better. that one percent is if you want them off the stages and your facing the wrong wya to bthrow.

I think a cool infinite thingy for Luigi is you down throw, and then jab them quickly, down throw, jab, down throw, jab... It's not that great, but it's something. I think it works on Fox the best maybe.
not an infinate if its excapable. yeah dthrow jab grab does work, but not against decent players. it migth work ocne, then they will airdodge or jump or areil or di. not even close to an infinate, but it is a good thing to mix into your game a LITTLE bit of the time.

i don't know what cusp means...

In dullard terms:
Why don't we just make it final and record it so there is no more arguing. We are wasting time and are in between complete junk, and important information we could use.

How about jabbing them when they hit the ground? That can maybe give one the chance of a re-grab.

( I haven't tested any of this just throwing out ideas. )

Try doing D-throw and U-throw "chain" grabs instead. They're MUCH better. All you have to do is read the air dodge, and grab them as they land. It's epic. It's really really good against characters like Snake, Marth, and DK who hate juggle traps. And when you do them, you win 9000 awesome points (well...at least in my book).

Use Forward Throw to get people offstage. Or for dealing damage.
