so last week a few kids on my hall broke one of the dorm room chairs. i came back from doing a project and there was pieces of a chair everywhere. they told me what happened and then we decided to play around with the rubble and saturday morning the cops woke me up, told me to get some clothes on, and arrested me along with everyone else on my hall. its vandalism and the police are claiming that the broken chair had $1800 worth of damage done to it and since its state property its a felony. so now me and 5 other kids on my hall are not allowed to leave the commonwealth of virginia and if were found guilty in court it will be $2500 and up to 12 months in prison.

yah i know. the university thinks its outrageous and is trying to get the charges dropped. however, virginia tech doesnt have jurisdiction because since this is a state school its state property so its being charged by the state police. also our lawyer said were getting off scott free, however because of legal issues and procedures it will be on our record until our court date.

i should be fine and this shouldnt be a problem like it is now. but the school cant drop the charges. the virginia state government has to drop the charges because technically its state property. and theyre not gonna do that.

Yo Dave....you should plead self-defense against the chair. Then they will be like, thats insane...and you can be like, you're right.
