I'm going to be leaving for Houston on the 18th sometime in the morning until the 21st, so I won't be able to make the tournament. I have to give our design group presentation to NASA on Monday and our group will drive back on Tuesday.

Are you going to the tournament? I'm gonna be out of town during it, I wonder how many people will show up. Either a lot, or the usually 5 or 6 would be my guess.

LOL Jake and godly falcon....I don't know how many times I've heard that. Or the ole I just haven't practiced. I'll play for a week ahead of time and beat you next tournament. You gotta take everything Jake says with a grain of salt.

OK I hate to do this but the techannounce didn't get posted, I think I will have to delay this to NEXT saturday. is that okay with everyone? that way andrew will get to play in it and we will get publicity, what do you guys think?
the only ones who know so far are those on smashboards anyways. we can still play for fun saturday though, I'm fine with that. for the tourney though if we want a lot of people we should delay for just one more week.

Doesn't sound like such a bad idea.....one last smash tourney to finish it off. Did you get in touch with Daniel, I haven't talked to him in a while since the last LAN and he kind of stopped playing SF IV there. I'll try to get in touch with him sometime during the weekday.
I wonder on how many people a Melee only tournament would pull in. Do you still play with the Brawl guys?

I finally won a tourney match (against Daniel), but inevitably got ***ed by fox(Ryan), marth(Andrew), and falcon(Ryan & Andrew)! BTW, someone asked me what FTP stood for, it's from George Lopez... F*** that Puto!!

Also Andrew, are you playing MVC2 right now? Can I borrow it? I've been playing it on an emulator that doesn't exactly run it at the same speed all the time, lol, but I've been having a lot of fun with it and XVSF. Let me know okay? =).

josh sent me to losers but I was able to take back first. I tried shiek first set and that didn't work, fox was my best bet it seemed. To be honest I think this tournament was one of the times where I did my very best, I was adapting during matches and changing my style to cope with different problems different opponents gave me. especially against andrew I had to change the way I was playing or else I would of lost probably. many ggs that day
since finals are soon approaching, to all of you graduating, I must say it has been fun playing with all of you. You were what held the community together, and with you gone melee in lubbock will surely be dead. jake, andrew, adam, its been fun playing with you guys. Good luck finding work when you graduate, you'll need it!
To everyone else, I hope we can keep the community together, but honestly this seems like the end. everyone we played with last year have all gone, and now with the graduates leaving there will be hardly anyone left because there really aren't any new people coming out here.
if anyone wants to try to revive the community, your best bet is brawl. I dont really have the motivation to build a brawl community, but I will show up and support whoever may decide to try to put together anything smash related. I had the motivation for melee last year, but once brawl came out really it was like a kick in the crotch for our community it seems. I never had the motivation to have a brawl tourney really, just wasn't that interested in the game it seems. not as much as I am in melee anyways.

GG at the tournament, reminds be a bit of the later years of Melee before Brawl.......... like low tunrouts, overhype and the same guys playing...heh Nonetheless, GG and congrats to Felix.
For the results, I could've beaten Josh if I was more motivated and tired harder, I even won the first set but I just didn't really care afterward.
On to the main topic though,
Lubbock sucks and Smash has already seen its time in the spotlight for competitive gaming here. I'm glad to see some of you guys are thankful for the scene we had, even if it was small and ****ty. For some, it might have been the first gaming scene they've been involved with and it was great to see you guys compete. At least you guys got get into it during its peak of hype.
It could've been worst, we never even had a traditional 2D fighting game scene here after the arcades were dead way before I was even at Tech. I was trying to get that going up again for the longest time and I gave up a long *** time ago. Even SF IV, I didn't even bother trying to get that on TGL for TechAnnouncement, I just play online now and then but don't even practice to get better in that.
Despite the scene in Lubbock, I'm glad I took part in it, especially holding some bad *** get togethers in my apt........ I'll be here during the summer, but I don't expect to play Smash, I won't have anything to play it on (Wii is Justin and John's). Summer schedule for me is sketchy but I'll be in this dead hole for a few more months.

Jesus Christ! Some thoughtful posts here on the Lubbock community. Maybe this is a tournament I should've attended =D. Man, I didn't know all those people were leaving =/. Andrew, Jake, and Adam, what are your majors again?

Hopefully they're porting the dreamcast version. If not then Capcom is dumb.
Man, all of you guys should try living in Plainview... Every other week, I go to lubbock... And it is a refreshing place to be, Plainview is hell.. Come here for a week and you will want to live in Lubbock for the rest of your lives, I know I wouldn't mind it.
@Andrew: Are you into ANY games competitively anymore?
