This might sound weird, but the announcer is one of the things that really gets me hyped for the game! And the Smash 4 announcer is amazing, in my opinion.

Take a look at this video:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VhVZX_fGoFw

I just friggin' LOVE how the new announcer says Donkey Kong, Sonic and Olimar! :)
What are your thoughts on this announcer? To me, since he kind of sounds similar to the Brawl announcer (Pat Cashman), this announcer kind of sounds like a better version of him, if you get my drift :p Really like how he says all the names!

He sounds like Tony the Tiger half the time.

Newwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww record! :4tony:

The other half of the time, he whispers names like "Zelda" and "Greninja" like their presence is a secret in your ear.

MEGA MAAAAN

everyone needs to hear him say mega man

I concur.

His voice is commanding and powerful, like Moses reading the Ten Commandments from the stone tablets.

"Thou shalt not bear false witness! Thou shalt not commit adultery! ...Also, MEGA MAN!!"

Isn't this the same voice from Brawl?
But I'm curious how the PAL languages will sound like. Especially Greninja. If they try to sound similar although they have different names. :p

The way he says FREE-FOR-ALL gets me so ****ing hyped...!
Also, am I the only one that notices how he says Greninja sensually?

I'm not sure what to say about him. I do like how he says Olimar (Makes it seem more exciting than in brawl), Greninja, Mario (Same reason as Olimar), Mega man, and that's it. I didn't really hear anything else from the announcer, but I like him as much as I do brawls announcer.

It almost sounds as if he were the Emperor in the Roman Coliseums of old... High class and reveling in carnage... I'm getting so excited for this game I swear. Love how he emphasizes "Little MAC", like he's punching someone out as he says it.

He pronounces Greninja the same way the SSBB announcer pronounced Luigi.

IT'S COMPARISON TIME!!!

Jeff Manning—Smash 64:

Dean Harrington—Melee:

Pat Cashman—Brawl:

Each one has their own unique flare, though I personally liked the voice modification Smash 64 and Melee had. Sm4sh seems to be taking the Brawl route with just the raw voice. Also, I just liked the 64 announcer the most, but I like how this new guy sounds.

He's okay, but I was actually hoping for an announcer similar to Melee's more uplifting and not as low-pitched in voice, considering the game is more colorful. Idk, thats what I was hoping for, but I've come to like the announcer :). He does remind me a lot of the guy from Brawl though

Well, upon listening to this with headphones on, I'm convinced the new announcer's pretty great. Still think I like the Brawl one a bit better, though. That guy totally seemed to get me playing Ness, but he sounded pretty doubtful / amused when I switched to "...Luigi?".

If you told me this is the same announcer as in Brawl, I'd believe you, because they sound way too similar.

That's all I can say about it. I don't dislike how it sounds by any means, but they just sound same-y.

I SWEAR HE'S THE ANNOUNCER GUY FROM THAT E3 DEMO!

Oh god I'm so freaking glad that he's not. That guy was trying way too hard to sound "epic" and failing miserably. He just doesn't have the right voice for the tone he's going for.

For a moment I Imagined a Smash game where the announcer throws in some random thought after every single thing you do.

"Greninja? Woah, uh... well, I'm not one to judge, everyone has their own preferences."
And during matches.

"How many times are you going to use that attack?"

The announcer is one of the things I never really pay much attention to. I think his voice works and that's as far as my thought process goes.

I think he presents the game well. Though he sounds similar to Brawl's announcer, he's a bit more "hype-y" I suppose. I like the way he pronounces some of the characters, but others sound just OK. I'm certain he'll sound much better when we all have the game on our TV with the upbeat menu theme, yknow? Personally I think Smash 64's announcer is the best; a shame we don't get his voice clips in high quality.

Hello!
Sounds like Pat Cashman's brother doing his best Pat Cashman impression, which to me is very disappointing.

He sounds pretty good to me, though I would like it if a 'younger sounding' voice would had came back, but I can dig "greninja?".

I love the new announcer, he makes everything sound so much more epic. Except for Greninja. I still love the way he says Greninja, but not in the same way as the others. I swear, the way he says Greninja sounds like something I'd hear in a commercial for Rolo.

Just imagine:
>Playing Smash, announcer says names epicly.
>Eats Rolo candy, smooth jazz starts.
>"Greninja"

That's freaking hilarious.

I'm almost certain that is Pat Cashman from Brawl.

Also, one would think that Villager is a cutesey character, but no... he says "Villager" very sinister like he does Bowser. Wouldn't have it any other way.

What I REALLY love is the Smash64 character select screen music at the end of every match. I still play Smash64 actively with my brother and friends so this is AWESOME.

I'm curious if the European version will get a german announcer yet again. Kinda silly, when you think about it. They have to hire a new guy for every language, because of the 2-3 Pokemon names that differ. :-P

He sounds really similar to Brawl's announcer but is more energetic like the Melee announcer, which is a pretty good balance.

Spanish names of Pokémon are the same and there was a Spanish dub for the announcer and some characters. Kind of wierd, because Lucario (yes, Lucario), Pokémon Trainer and the announcer spoke Spanish but spacies, Falcon, Ness, Ike, Peach etc. still spoke in English. And of course, Marth spoke in Japanese. It was pretty strange... and also, this Spanish dub was pretty bad.
