The most important feature of the new Smash

For me it would be a functional, lag-free online versus mode. What Nintendo has set up for Brawl right now is pretty pitiful, I think we can all agree. I'm not even asking for much, just no lag and some kind of leader board. Maybe even a "rival" feature that finds matches between two players with similar records.

Other than that, I don't really see this happening but a separate online melee mode would make me very happy because, let's face it, it's the best of the series so far.

What is the single most important feature that you would like to see implemented in the new game?

If you've played mario kart 7 then you should know that its online isn't bad... at all. So that means nintendos improved there attitude toward online, and im hoping for at least as good online as mario kart 7 from them here on out :/

People were hyped when Nintendo announced Online for Brawl, but sadly, the result was very sub-par.

As gothrax mentioned, Mario Kart 7 had an excellent online system which shows Nintendo is competent in that field. The online is what will also make the game sell, as online gaming is yet continuing to grow in popularity for the casual and hardcore demographics. Namco has also done well with online, so having them aboard will most likely create an enjoyable experience.

So yeah, online.

Online is the most important thing? Laughable. What I want most is a glaring omission that we really should have had in the last two games. Smash should remember that I don't want to play a two minute time match. All the other settings remember what you last used. There is no reason for the game to keep switching back to a default I'm not interested in.

As much as I don't want this to be the case, it really is. I understand that some people such as yourself believe that online is no big deal and that Smash could probably live without it, but face it, online is what today's gaming communties love. They eat it up as long as it's efficient and entertaining. Money, my friend. It's all about the green stuff.

That's not to say that there are other features that are just as important (like your suggestion).

Online would be fairly exciting but I would never give it up over traditional 4 player local.

Also if n88_2004 hadn't mention it I would not have thought of it but it is extremely annoying having to keep changing the settings all the time.

Even mario kart wii online was better than brawl. Brawls online was rushed and it has already been stated. It is almost guaranteed to improve unless it is another last minute effort. If anything how was kid Icarus's online? That is probably the most comparable thing.

Most important is everything, I just want a good game, maybe even a hitstun slider in the settings, and good online with STOCK matches and 1v1s.

Those of you praising Mario Kart's online are missing very important details. Even a slow fighter like Brawl has more inputs in a second than a racing game which usually consists of holding down a single button and moving the analog stick. Just on that alone, you would automatically expect Mario Kart's online to be so much better in comparison.

I want a proper combo game, don't make it entirely DI reads.

The only problem with the Wi-Fi features is that they would lead to the game having copy-protected game data. However, for titles like Mario Strikers Charged, you could still copy the game data, even though it has Wi-Fi features; the Wi-Fi data won't be copied though.

I just want that Smash Bros. 4 would to be SMASH BROTHERS. It shouldn't carry the obligation to be a super competitive fighter, I only want a fun, balanced, fast-paced and franctic multiplayer game.

I really don't care about gameplay speed, hitstun and physics (also, I loved Brawl physics), I just want that the game gonna be GOOD!

Online mode is the most important=??? That's funny.

The most important mode is always the standard multiplayer mode. Whether you are new to smash, a casual player, a competitive player, an active tournament goer, or a party-esk smash bros. fan, you play the standard multiplayer 90% of the time.

If the standard multiplayer is amazing and lives up to our expectations for smash bros., we're happy. If the rest of the game is "meah," it's not that big of a deal to anyone.

Multiplayer.

Single player? Bring back break the targets, board the platforms?, classic, all-star, and i guess adventure mode. I honestly had much more fun playing adventure mode in Melee than that boring Subspace. Smash is better when you aren't trying to make sense out of it.

I loved Subspace Emissary completely, I'm awating for a similar Adventure Mode in new Smash Bros.

But I agree that Target Smash should be like in past games, one stage per character, and the sabe for a Platform Test.

Talking about Stadium modes, I would love a mode like Paper Mario's Pit of 100 Trials in Smash Bros. context, or else, a 1000-man Brawl in Multi-Man challenge XDDDDD

I'm almost certain online play will be smooth. Kid Icarus Uprising and Mario Kart 7 both run almost lag-free and I expect at least as well from the WiiU. The only thing I'm really worried about here is the actual gameplay.

To clarify my original post, smooth and organized online gameplay is super important to me, but it should be implied that the game itself should be as good as possible before that becomes a priority. I didn't think I would need to explicitly state that I want it to be a good fighting game...

Unfortunately, many hopefuls care more about quantity than quality and want things like more characters, more modes, more more more, instead of a better core gameplay. It is with this in mind that the people who misinterpreted your mindset saw the viewpoint as "Make a smoother online mode before polishing the main gameplay."

Legitimately, outside of a deep, enriching gameplay, I don't care about anything else in the game. Maybe make the collectibles feel less like a chore and more like a legitimate reward somehow, or make the single player modes more engaging instead of a tired rut. Brawl's classic mode makes me gag.

Where the heck are people getting that KI:U's online was smooth and lag free!?

out of all my video games i play online, KI:U ranks as one of the most laggy for me, and i have no freaking clue why considering that all my other games have next to no lag at all, yet with KI im having people warping all over the place(not by the power, by lag) shots missing completely even though my opponent never dodged, and people randomly dieing(again, not by a fake death power up) when it never seemed a shot him em.

So far as i said KI is the only game i have that keeps having this much horrendous lag.

-Unique and fun movesets for newcomers(Few shared moves/ no clones. Should be fun to play as)
-The newcomers deserved representation (The characters are important to their series and their series is actually good) (Ridley and Prince Sable opposed to Generic Space Pirate and Ice Climbers)(Ice Climbers are fine though since they apply to the previous point, they are fun to play as in smash whether their game was good or not)
-Decent balancing (Brawl and Melee are both decently balanced compared to other fighters)
-Stable and accesible online play (I'm talking options for 1x1 matches, matchmaking, friends lists, no friend codes)
-Fast paced gameplay(I'm actually fine with Brawl's speed and floatiness, faster is just better)

In that order pretty much.

I hope they don't add a Melee only option, but an option to choose the gameplay mechanics between one of the three previous insdtallments.

I agree with you, but does what you said also hold true for the 3ds version?

What I said about the gameplay of the multiplayer being the key applies to every smash bros. game ever. That is the core of the game.

Still, the online quality will move millions of copies. Brawl sold about a third the units of Mario Kart Wii largely because Mario Kart Wii had okay online, whereas Brawl's online was dreadful.

Fortunately, we can expect a much higher quality of online play this time around... from both games.

Different games affect online experience differently. Just because Mario Kart 7 works fine doesn't mean Smash will.

Monster Hunter Tri has pretty good stability as well.

Not to be rude, but the online issue is actually a problem as opposed to something that's just tedious.

Eh. A little rudeness couldn't hurt. My last post was less than charming. That said, I think I've used online mode maybe twice (to go up against other MYMers) and it seemed to work alright. Whereas I've accidentally started a match forgetting to change the match settings. . . . man, I can't even count. I'd say I have a dozen or so friends who play Smash (at varying levels of regularity) and none of them even slightly cares about online. To most people, Smash is something you do with friends. Not something you sit by yourself and play against anonymous strangers with. Personally, I would be totally fine if they just cut online altogether. Hence, the most important fix for me is those darn match settings.

I feel like more people would care about the online if it were good enough though. Now that I think about it, Smash is far from a perfect game, and there are lots of things that need fixing.

For me, It would be gameplay more then anything else.

I really dont play games online nor do I ever want a smash leaderboard, but I would appreciate the ability to actually change settings....

Aside from the gameplay this is probably the second most important thing.

Let's get the Pokemon Stadium announcer.

"OH THEY'RE DOWN, THEY'RE BOTH DOWN."
Hahaha your a G RealTalk.

''HEY! WHATS IT DOING...DOWNNN IT GOES''

Also its all in my Sig.
