I'll need some assistance maintaining this thread so I will be giving the password to this account to a select few members. without further delay...

03/09/08: The American Release of Brawl- A few people had already been playing the Japanese version of Brawl either through modded Wiis or actually buying a Japanese Wii specifically to play Brawl early. However, for most of us this was the day people purchased the game and started picking their characters. Brawl brought back a bunch of familiar faces to the Mario community as well as a few new ones such as Bo X7 and Kirinblaze.

03/13/08: A groundbreaking discovery is made in Brawl's physics; one that potentially assists Mario more than any other character in the game. The introduction of "stutter-stepping" your Fsmash to greatly increase the range on the attack was one of the most important to Mario's metagame, even now. Though the thread describes this breakthrough as a "small exploit", stutter-stepping Mario's Fsmash allows him to contend with some of the longest attacks in the game and come out victorious.

03/15/08: Florida's first Brawl tournament after the American release was Everybody Loves Manko: Season 1. The turnout was a little small, at about 20 people Monk attended this tournament placing 5th losing to Vericz (Pokemon Trainer) and Crom(Snake). 1st went to an Olimar player named Icekid

The first post about Aerial Cape Extension(ACE) was posted in this thread by Bioghost who now longer visits the boards. Whenever Mario runs towards the edge of the stage(or platform) and capes he will fly off putting him in a prime position to edgegaurd.

April 2008
04/06/08: Videos from ELM:1 were uploaded and Monk posted them here. People were immediately impressed making statements that were just plain silly such as "Monk is the best Mario" or "Monk is the Eggz of brawl". As of now the videos have been removed.

04/20/08: Since Mario's move set was announced everyone agreed FLUDD was useless until Mike Hawk released Mario's World, a Mario/FLUDD video this is the first time anyone applied basic FLUUD use as a useful gimping tool and in on stage combat.

06/04/08: To aid in Mario's metagame ??????? proposed we make a list of how to gimp each character. at the time it was the most research the Mario boards have done as it included discussion on how difficult each character was to gimp, what to do depending on where they recover from. Most of the data is fairly accurate to this day but it is still fairly outdated

08/16/08: Bo X7 went to his first offline tournament the turnout was small at about 14-20 people but Bo managed to snag second place losing to (I need this I'll get it from Bo later). Coincidentally Monk also went to a tournament the same day known as LOBSTER1 the turnout was also small at 11 people however Monk also managed to get second losing to GDX(Diddy Kong/ Metaknight) then coming back in losers finals to 3-1 GDX and then losing to HRNUT(Snake) in Grand Finals.

September 2008
09/20/08: After LOBSTER1's poor turnout GDX took over hoping to draw in more people and it worked giving FL Brawl Wars. Monk attended this tournament teaming with Polmex as "Those Two Guys That Play The Mario Brothers Good". out of 13 teams Monk and Polmex placed 4th losing to Afro(Snake)+ Linguini(DK) and Lambchops(Snake)+ColBol(DDD). Polmex and Monk created a new Mario Luigi team attack that combined FLUDD and Shoryuken as seen here.(Full Video)

09/27/08: HeroMystic created Super Mario Sunshine: A Guide to Using FLUDD Which was essentially a more in depth clone of ???????'s previous thread. If Mario used his FLUDD on certain attacks it would cause a significant amount of lag, this technique came to be known as Fludd Induced Hit Lag(FIHL)

October 2008

November 2008
11/12/08: Famous discovered a new technique known as Cape Dashing. This technique is very similar to Mario's Aerial Cape Extension however it's done on the stage itself.

[More info to come]

I still need more info so anything anyone can contribute will help
