So I wrote this stuff up in a notebook during my trip. Today I was cleaning my room and I found the notebook, and typed everything up. Finally.

Just a heads up to everyone: It's very badly written.

So yeah, here goes:

Tuesday August 4th, 2009.

5:54

I’m in Cali, LAX airport. Got off the plane from Chicago like 2 hours ago. A little bet less. The plane ride sucked, I had a bad headache. I was reading magazines then my headache kicked in and I decided to take a nap. Then it took me like an hour to fall asleep. Lucky me.

Now I’m just loitering in the LA airport, well I was until I decided to sit down and do something somewhat productive and write this. Lotsa Asians here, and this international terminal is super ghetto. I wasted like 6 bucks on this California magnet thing, even though I’m only gonna be here for like 5 more hours. My plane leaves at 10:30 LA time (GMT whatever, I don’t care about the technicalities).

My mom’s telling me to drink some water so I don’t die of thirst, I suppose that’s a good thing. I’d rather die fighting dingos or doing something else a little more ****** than not drinking water. I plan to slay a few, but I’m not sure if they’re considered contraband, so I don’t know if I can bring them back through customs. OK now it’s 6:04 local time, and I have four and a half more hours stuck in this place. I’ll probably go to sleep or something. I’ll write later when I’m in Aussie Land or on the plane or something. I’mma go read Calvin and Hobbes.

Thursday August 6th, 2009.

7:59 am.

Just got out of the shower, my first one it like a day and a half or something. It felt nice. So yeah, I’m in Australia, I arrived about an hour ago, I’m staying with my mom’s friend. The plane ride was 14 hours of boring. I watched Star Trek and Good Will Hunting on the plane. The former was decent, and the latter is one of my favorites. My mom wants me to take a nap, so I’ll write tomorrow I guess.

5:47 am.

I’m on a plane, departing for Brisbane in a few minutes. Yesterday was nice, I just chilled in Sydney. Went for a long walk, then slept, slept some more, woke up at like 8 pm, ate dinner and went right back to sleep. Pretty action packed, I know.

From Brisbane I’m taking a plane to Gladstone, and then taking a ferry to Heron Island, a tiny island on the reef. Today should be good, I’m excited for the reef. I got a few pictures, but I should probably get a real camera instead of just using my phone.

Friday August 7th, 2009.

10:05 am

I’m on the bus the the Heron Island Launch from Gladstone. The flights were fine, and something funny happened in the Brisbane airort. I was in Subway and this guy behind m’s like “I think we order over here.” My mom, nosy as ever, is like “Yeah you do.” Then the dude’s like “I don’t think I was talking to you.” I was holding back laughter, get worked mom.

On the plane to Gladstone, my mom was telling me some story about when she was growing up, and something a teacher told her that helped her in life. So she’s done and I’m like “Yeah, but can he see why we love Cinnamon Toast Crunch?” (dey see me trolin, dey hatin) Then she told me something about life lessons and I went back to listening to music.

Also, Gladstone feels like San Diego. I like it. Nice city.

August 8th, 2009

4:09 pm

Heron Island is pretty sweet. Got in about 3 pm yesterday. Yesterday we just had lunch and then chilled. We went on a walk today and rented snorkeling stuff. It’s very nice (like 75 F), considering it’s winter here. Staying here til Thursday I think. Hell I don’t even know what day it is. I just realized I should write less or this is going to be a pain in the *** to type up. (Vrael edit: I can predict the future. I mean it only took me like 6 months to get around to this.)

The food here is really good. Last night I had some great beef tenderloin and some potatoes and green beans. But dinner sucked because I’d been sleeping and I was extremely tired. I’m almost adjusted though.

Sunday August 9th, 2009

7:11 am

Just woke up, and thought “why not write?” So yeah, I’m writing. Now that I think about it, I don’t care if I write a lot, because I have a week when I get back to do nothing. (Vrael edit: Or 6 months, that works too). I’m gonna go snorkeling later today. My handwriting sucks. Who cares though? I need to take more pictures.

SIDE STORY 1:

So Heron Island is really a pirate island. There’s this shipwreck out by the pier, and this guy was digging for treasure outside of my little cabin thing. It also says “Yo ho yo ho a pirate’s life for me” in the sand. I definitely didn’t write that. Then there’s big medieval weapon looking thing for fending off raids, and a bunch of annoying birds. So yeah. ARGH!

Monday August 10th, 2009.

9:10 pm

Today was fun. In the morning I went on this semi-submersible glass bottom boat. So we saw a bunch of cool stuff, like these huge turtles and a nurse shark. I took some pictures, but then the film ran out (Vrael edit: These pictures turned out horribly. Since the camera had to shoot through glass, the quality is bad and you cannot see anything.) If any of you say “No johns” I’ll kick you in the throat. Then I went snorkeling, and saw hella sharks. I got some pics with my supr speshl underwater camera. Then I read “When you are Engulfed in Flames” by David Sedaris in the bar area. Good book.

Then I played some chess and beat a bunch of little kids. Then I went and played football with some French kids who are pretty cool. In the process, I cut my foot on a rock in 4 places (how does that even happen?) and had to get it bandaged up. Then went and ate dinner (kangaroo is tasty). And I’m gonna go sleep pretty soon. So yeah.

Tuesday August 11th, 2009.

8:41 pm

Yo peeps. Today I chilled with the french guys, they’re cool. We played chess, ping pong, more football, and some basketball. I was going all out in basketball, cuz u kno, half court basketball with a 7 year old foreign kid guarding you on a tennis court with a soccer goal in the way and no shoes on is srs bsns.

Also went snorkeling with them, mainly the one that’s close to my age. No sharks though, but I saw a bunch when I got out of the water. The water is pretty **** cold.

SIDE STORY 2:

So I decided to let my geekiness and my over-active imagination turn a routine trip to do laundry into something a lot more fun. So I was taking the laundry to destroy it in the waters of Mt. Whirlpool while being attacked by the small, winged minions of Sauron. Then it all fell apart when I realized that it was laundry and I had to, iunno, take it out.

I was just about to write about something else but I forgot what it was.

Wednesday August 12th, 2009

9:12 pm
French guys left today, but we played some pool and chess before they had to go. I’m leaving tomorrow unfortunately. Today was kinda boring. l played some more basketball by the tennis court and then played more ping pong also.

I’ve been OM NOM NOMing on the island, all this food is too good. I’m gonna miss it. So yeah.

Thursday August 13th, 2009

????

In the Brisbane airport, going back to Sydney soon. Plane departs in about an hour, it’s just pulling up to the gate now. Boat ride was fine, as was the flight from Gladstone. If any of you got to Australia I suggest Heron Island, although it is a bit pricey. It’s a really nice place.

It’s hilarious how bad the security is here compared to in the US. In Gladstone there was no security at all, and we didn’t have to show any ID to get out boarding passes. It smelled bad there, too. There aren’t any metal detectors. Brisbane’s security was better, but I was surprised that they didn’t make us take off our shoes.

Saturday August 15th, 2009

6:45 pm

Hey hey hey. Yesterday was action packed. Went down to Sydney Harbor by the Opera House and stuff, then went to a party with a bunch of my mom’s friends and met all of the people she always talks about (she used to live in Australia like 20 years ago). There were some people near my age there, the daughter of one of my mom’s friends and her friend. We just chatted a little, it was pretty interesting to talk about how Australia was similar and different from America.

Today’s been pretty boring. I read, ate breakfast, went to this boring market that turned out to have nothing that interested me. That kinda sucked. I think I’m gonna go eat dinner soon. The food here is great too.

Sunday August 16th, 2009

??:15 pm

I got on SWF for about 10 minutes today. I have to get premium membership, and I’ll inevitably purchase it when I get back. I kinda miss you guys. Well most of you. I won’t be getting on for a while, but I will when I get home obviously.

Anyway, I went to Bondi Beach today, it was fun.
Except for when we went to eat lunch. The service was terrible. Probably the worst service in any restaurant I’ve ever been in. Our waitress only had 4 tables to cover, and she couldn’t handle that. So we get there at 12:10, and they stopped serving breakfast at 12:30. I wanted some pancakes. But then she messed up some other table’s order completely, and so it took her 25 MINUTES to get to us, and she wouldn’t let me get pancakes. So we finally order and then she messes up my order (No mayo means NO MAYO). Then it took her 15 minutes to get back and she finally got it right, Urgh.

I did get a nice sweatshirt for 40 bucks Australian ($32 American).

Monday August 17th, 2009

9:18 pm

Went to Taronga Zoo today, it was really cool. Kangaroos, wallabies, wombats, tasmanian devils, etc. BUT NO DINGOS UHWFUOEBFYEUHJ. Their habitat was being redone, so they had taken them out. The platypus was hiding to. There were also some other cool non-Australian animals, like this ****** Sumatran tiger and these really cute red pandas.

@Straked: I saw a Cooter Turtle and I thought of you. Tee hee.

Tuesday August 18th, 2009

????

I’m in some art museum somewhere, writing post cards to people. There’s lots of Asians here and no black people. It’s weird. I don’t really like art, so I’m just eating some mother****in gingerbread and reading.

Same day, 1:10 pm

I’m on a ferry in Watson’s Bay, and there’s this guy who looks like Mr. Sir from Holes mixed with Elvis. So the ferry motors are really loud and I was singing “Cookin by the Book” really loudly, and thankfully no one heard it.

So I was at Watson’s Bay, which was really cool. You can see all of Sydney from the Heads, it’s a great view.

Wednesday August 20th, 2009.

8:02 am

Went to Bondi Junction yesterday. It had a mall and stuff, it was pretty cool. Got a few winter hats for me and some of my friends (NRL teams). My mom bought some Nepalese window cover thing.

Today we’re going to Manly Beach and then having dinnah at this Vietnamese place that’s supposed to be really good. Leaving tomorrow.

Same day, 6:03 pm

Yo, went to Manly Beach today. Finished shopping for people and stuff. Not much else to report. Saw some dolphins in the harbor.

Thursday August 21st, 2009.

1:00ish pm

In the airport, quite bored, not much to do. Lots of name changes and stuff on SWF, and it’s nice to see Teran and sasukebowser get modded.

Friday August 22nd, 2009.

12:16 pm(?)

In the San Francisco airport, flight wasn’t bad. It didn’t feel too long, and for some we got moved up to like business class on the flight, so we got lots of leg room. It was quite nice. I watched Watchmen, the Simpsons, and Family Guy on the flight.

K, so I went to get a Pepsi like 2o minutes ago, and I go to this magazine shop, and all they have is water and vitamin water. So I go to two other ones, and one of them had a limited selection just like the first one, and the other had no drinks at all. So then I see all these long *** lines at restaurants and I’m too impatient to wait in them. So I go to this random Greek restaurant and I have to settle for Coke (you heard me, Pepsi all day mother****ers). Then I realize I’m like halfway across the airport from my gate. Moral of the story: San Francisco airport needs more mother****in Pepsi.

Same day, ????

Arriving at the gate soon, it’ll be nice to be home...

Right here, not quite now
I've never been outside my home country for longer than 7 days... Perhaps that's enough? I dunno, it seems like you just kind of liked your trip to Australia?

I liked it a lot at the beginning, but after that it got a little tiresome. I wish we would have gone somewhere other than Sydney and the reef. Don't get me wrong, those were both great, but I don't like staying in the same place for a long time on vacation.

tl;dr.
It's very overdue. Just adding that I like Australia and reading the replies, you shouldn't feel bad about wanting to go somewhere else. Just saying, Sydney is a big city and you can't possibly see everything in 1 month at the very least.

This makes me want to go somewhere foreign.

I could never keep a journal though, that'd be annoying imo. So props on that.

Whew. Pretty long, but it was worth it I guess. Meh. Sounds like you had plenty of fun, Solid. Good for you. I'd imagine that'd be hard to do in Australia with all the snakes and sharks and kangaroos. D:

Yeah I know. But being with my mom and stuff I couldn't really go wherever I wanted, ya know? I'm hoping to go back another time alone so I can really explore on my own.

Thanks. I thought it was going to be harder than it was. But with all the plane rides and stuff, I had a good amount of down time.

Didn't see any snakes :(

Oh I forgot to add something about the sharks: There was this guy swimming up behind them and slapping their tails, it was lulzy. But it was kinda scary because I was in the water at the time.
