Are you SERIOUS Nintendo!?

Who made this game for 2 year olds and up?

And why can't they try something new instead of what was used in Phantom Hourglass? (Maybe Pokemon Diamond/Pearl graphics?).

I loved the Zelda series ever since Oracle of Ages, (that was the first one I played). And then got hooked on Ocarina of Time. When Majora's Mask came out, I didn't go outside everuntil I was finished with it (Majora's Mask is STILL my favorite in the series). When Wind Waker came out I was reluctant to play it, due to it's cel-shaded graphics and "happy-go-lucky" feel to it (I was still hooked on to Majora's Mask emo feel, but I enjoyed Wind Waker though). Twilight Princess felt like a mix of Ocarina of Time and Majora's Mask (but mostly Ocarina of Time) and introduced motion controls, and it was GOOD.

Now after TP we were introduced to Phantom Hourglass, it was fun but really don't think WW needed a sequel. So after so many long years of waiting (and the notorious Wii TV video). We get this. I'm not too bothered by the how identical this is to PH (but I am a little angry) but how...babyish this is. It looks like another attempt to appeal to the "casual" crowd. And the train system, it's JUST LIKE the sailing system used in PH. And can we please take a break from the cel-shaded graphics!? Why not make another Zelda for the Wii and use graphics similar to what was used in TP? IMO, TP's graphics were much prettier.

Come on Shigeru! Can't you do anything better than this!?

And apparently the game is being played on a DSi.
Confirmed: Your buying a Nintendo DSi.

I don't see how its accessibility to non-hardcore gamers makes it any inferior a game, if I may be honest.

The last response to that thread was like, a month ago. I don't see why he isn't allowed to post his thoughts on it in his own blog.

Anyway, I think it looks kind of ridiculous...but I'll try it anyway.

I see what you did with the title.

Very clever.

I also like how train equals a casual game.

"come on shiguru, can't you do ANYTHING better than this?"

The game isn't out...and you're complaining?
"how childish this is"
Because we all (Banjo Kazooie) know that (Mario) games that are (Kirby) kid-friendly (Pokemon) are always (LittleBigPlanet) bad games.

Yeah, just like this, this, and probably this.
And let me put it another way. What if they took Resident Evil 4, replaced the enemies with marshmallows, replaced the weapons with something that shoots lasers that lightly toast anything it hits, and made the setting a cel-shaded country instead.
Then waited 3-5 years to say this game will be Resident Evil 6. That's what I feel is happening with this Zelda game right now.
Also a person can nay-say whenever they feel like, right?

I'm gonna laugh and laugh if this game turns out to be good.
Just like I did when Wind Waker came out.

I would probably actually be interested in playing it if they did that.

It would still be good.

HEY GUYS LOOK AT NINTENDO TRYING TO CHANGE ZELDA UP A BIT HOW WEIRD, HUH? IT'S NOT LIKE US HARDCORE GAMERS WEREN'T CONSTANTLY COMPLAINING THAT NINTENDO NEVER INTRODUCED NEW THINGS TO THEIR IPs, RIGHT?

Guess what: Nintendo's finally done what you guys wanted them too! Change! Do something new! They gave link a train. I don't see the problem with a train. The Zelda story can theoretically exist at any conceivable setting, date, and time period. Having it set during the industrial revolution (which this might be) or having it be a steampunk game (which this probably is) is not a bad idea.

Cause when we think of industrial revolution or steampunk, big-eyed preteens in green always come to mind. :p

Seriously, this may be a weird concept, but you might be forgetting something:

This is a Zelda game. And probably a canon one at that, assuming there is a canon. No Crossbow Training or anything like that, just good old top-down Zelda.

I think a mix between TP and a steampunk setting would be pretty interesting, but would then lead down a FF esque path that they'd never be able to return from for fuggin forever.

I understand how you stand. I liked Phantom Hourglass, but was not as satisfied as playing TP. This new game looks like crap.

You must have missed the Thomas the Tank Engine show when you were a kid.

You have a right to your opinion, bro. But seriously?

This is Nintendo we're talking about here.

Smooth Criminal
BUT this is SPARTA pure truth.

Nintendo has always been more kiddy oriented. Now they're not only kiddy oriented but being sloppy with their work. TP was good, but I had problems with the wii controls. Analog movement in particular. Seriously If I'm climbing up a vine that's right in front of me, I should be hittng UP not diagonally left or completly to the side. I'm not going into it any farther as everyone knows what the Big N is doing right now.

Trains seems beyond the Zelda world's technology, but I'll give it a shot if it plays well. And PH played pretty well. Wasn't that deep for a Zelda but I liked it.

It's high time they thought of a new art direction instead of ww, or use TP or a different past art style again. I'm sick of cat eyes Link now honestly. WW, four swords gba art, PH, Brawl, and now this. I never loved the style and now I'm tired of it. >.>;

Just because a game is directed at a more casual crowd (which we don't even know if it will be) doesn't mean it's a bad game. Please, think a little before you rant.

I do agree 100% on those stupid graphics, ugh. I dunno, they give Link these bigass eyes. That graphical style also detracts from the "epic journey" feel.

Wii sports is awesome. I don't care if its casual, if it's well made, but most of the time developers use the game being targeted for casual gamers as an excuse to be lazy with programming, which is what I was complaing about if you read what I said about TP.

Please think a little before you post about my lack of thinking. ^^;

edit: On second thought, I don't think that was directed at me at all after reading it again. Maybe I should just shut up before I make even more a fool out myself >.>;

Oh the legions of people who are pre-judging this game. I mean seriously. Maybe it is a bad game, maybe it's another amazing Zelda game. We don't know until we play it. So stop all the whining about how trains = casual, Nintendo is abandoning its fanbase by giving them what they asked for (something new in a main series), or that the graphics are bad. Give the game a chance before you bash it.

I am in no position to judge, I haven't even played PH because it was on the DS, which I never had. Now if this were to come out for the Wii (which it most likely won't, because making it console exclusively might be the one push to get people into buying the console) I would give it a try, or if I win the DSi. This however, seems pretty gay. I would've enjoyed the more original Zelda graphics (like TP, it was Ocarina of Time graphic style, packed in 2006 jacket) than another Wind Waker, which was already too bright of a game.

We reached the peak IMO, enjoy your Sonic game cycle.

Train's were introductioned to the world in around the early 1900s. And guns existed during that time.

WTF is Link doing with a sword?!

Technically, trains were introduced in the mid-1800's, but yes, guns existed back then.

Even so, why would Link use a gun? He's friggin' Link, a Zelda game without a sword is like a Mario platformer without Mushrooms.

Yeah, things can develop at a different rate in Zelda-land. I mean, look at Majora. They have cameras, but otherwise, they're not really at all up to that level of tech.

Fixed indeed.

boats>trains
I'll put it to you this way.

Have you ever heard any characters shout "All aboard the Cole boat!"?
No?
How about "All aboard the Cole train!"?

Sure listen to some idiot that is ten times bigger than you and runs away from you in circles and kills himself by running into the wall...

and by the way, I never said trains were better than boats,
heck, I didn`t even say they were manlier, I said they were manly.
