On a completely unrelated note, I'm pretty upset right now. I aked my manager if more hours were going to become available, because I'm not getting a whole lot, and she said probably not. And I was like, okay, so what can I do? Because I cannot survive on what I'm getting now, and she was like, yeah, there's nothing I can do. And then when I'm about to go home, she checks my numbers and says, yeah, people who want more hours need to get better numbers.
I almost cried on the spot. If I didn't care, I think it would be easier, but I do, and I'm **** good at my job. Which just makes it worse.

In all seriousness, sweetheart, I feel your pain. My job isn't exactly giving me a red carpet as far as advancement and/or pay scaling. Matter of fact, they're coming down on everybody. I know a couple of people at my job who got their pay docked or frozen at a very specific level due to stupid nuances that have never, ever been considered in the history of our store until now. Things like being "too detail oriented" or "failure to follow EXACT protocol in greeting customers" are big ****ing x's on our evaluations. There is no subtext here when I make this (very) educated guess: Our company, despite being a retail grocer and being a relatively profitable in lieu of this slump, is not taking any chances. Oh they can dress it up with whatever pretty words and company spiels that they want, but really it's about as obvious as a bag of hammers being dumped on to you from somebody's Obvious Perch.
The best advice I can give you is try. Try your pretty little heart out and get those numbers. Work the Nova Scotian system for all its welfare and all its free stuff; there's no shame in scraping, no shame in milking for that **** if you desperately need it. Nab student loans or, ****, even LOANS to get you through the day. Focus on your spheres of influence. Get a grip on the short-term, then focus on the long-term.
Admittedly I'm not that bad off (yet) but at current I do not have the means to weather potential crises. I am living off of luck, as it were. I easily qualify for welfare/food stamps/what-have-you, but I choose not to do it in lieu of how taxes over here work (like, seriously, I am not going to let that **** cut into my tax return; I need all the money I can get at that point in the year so I can do things like move to a different apartment in the event that I need to). If I absolutely had to..? ****, I'd swallow my parentheses above like the jagged pill it is. Of course, I only assume that these courses of action haven't been taken. You seem like a smart girl; I don't doubt that these things have occurred to you already, but it doesn't hurt to get reminders.
It also doesn't hurt for me to stop intellectualizing and turn on the "poor baby" button. XD You have my support, Lyth. Hell you have this whole communities' support. I'm sure you have somebody at your back over there, too. You're not alone.

Mods can only infract those who have a lower ranking than themselves. Like Senators can infract SMods and Mods, but not Admins or other Senators.
