-Speaking of vending machines in Japan, they sell cigarettes and alcohol in them. A little child can get them easily. (When i visited Japan, i saw a couple of 7 year olds smoking near one.

-I opened a Japanese comic for kids called "coro coro comics". one of the comics i found had a disturbing scene where a kid was taking a **** on a plate while his friends ate it. it was very detailed and graphic. (Note that this is a monthly issue for KIDS). They seemed to not only enjoy it, but getting erections from it.

-Many japanese hentai has little children getting *****. (I think that **** is encouraged in Japan but why the children?)

-Japanese tv shows are ****ed up. There is usually no plot and they just do stupid stuff in stupid costumes. (It's even more ******** than jack ***.) You can view a lot of these videos in ebaumsworld.

-I saw an old man touching a teen girl in appropriate places inside a bullet train and NOONE inside the train did anything about it. The girl was even crying.

I just want to say real fast, please change the title a bit. Not all Japanese are like this, and calling them out as a group could possibly offend someone. We do have Japanese on the boards, and some of us speak Japanese as second languages (I myself am learning). Not that I personally care or anything, but I'm looking out for you and everyone else so as noone gets offended.

Anyways, to get on topic. Yes some of the things you may witness in Japan can definately be called "different" than what we'd do in America. As to your specific reference to ****** children in videos; do understand that a TON of grown Japanese, or actually Asian in general, look extremely young. Some girls are legally 18+ look to be a mere 12. And you do have to remember, those videos they create are storylined just like any other adult film you might find. (Er... some of the films you might find anyways).

As far as vending machines, I do not know their particular laws but I do know you find bizzare things in them. I remember seeing toilet paper packets in one particular machine lol. I think it's just general encouragement for the parents to raise their children properly, and to teach them right from wrong. The vending machines are publicly accessible, but I'm unsure as to whether law enforcement officers would prevent kids using it. *shrugs* it's just another one of those "things" I guess, that are different than what we're used to in America.

The hentai and magazines are all expressions of imagination to them. You'd be surprised at what things we as Americans can find "obscene" and "disgusting" but to other cultures, they find them intriguing. Now in defense of myself, I too find them to be offensive, but everyone has their own views.

I actually enjoy some of their TV shows. I know everyone here has most likely heard of MXC Extreme Elimination (American voiceovers of a Japanese game show). I remember seeing one, Ninja Warrior, that was pretty cool. They all have their own unique flavors I guess.

And finally to the point about the older man touching a teen girl inappropriately. While I agree it's completely wrong, the Japanese (in some cases, I do not want to sound like a hypocrite and call them all out myself) respect privacy and in most cases, peace. They usually do not wish to get involved in anyone else's business for fear of getting involved in something on a totally larger scale. A lot of times, they will leave it up to their law enforcement officers, and move on with their personal lives. (Exceptions go to involvement with personal friends and family of course.)

So while I agree with you on most points, I also wanted to give potential reasons as to why these things may be. Happy Holidays!

No, you are absolutely right. I'm not saying it's wrong to use this or that way to potty train our kids. It's just different to me. The reason why many Japanese people have high grades is because schooling is very competitive in Japan. Since kindergarten, they go to school 6 days a week. Then when it comes to college in Japan, the acceptance rate is so low that I've heard from my mom (who happens to be Japanese) that you can only hope for a good future there if you are top 1 in your class, or even school.

I forgot to mention that there is a Japanese website where you find a "partner" that will help you commit suicide so both of you cannot fail.

Understanding the whole "**** fantasy" thing in Japanese culture requires that you pay a bit more attention to how their culture views relationships and sexuality, then combine that with the target audience of the videos.

--I'm mostly piecing this together logically in my brain as an attempt to understand it while I write it. I'm also using what anecdotal evidence I have from people who have been to Japan and what I've seen of their entertainment. I could very well be off base here, but it makes sense to me--

First off, relationships in Japan tend to move very slowly. There's a lot of tiptoeing around and a lot of formality. People are not encouraged to publicly state their feelings for one another. In fact, saying you love someone is a very big deal. They do have a particular word for it--I think--so it's not quite comparable to America's freer use of the word "love."

So how does this play into the **** fantasy?

1) The guy is acting well outside the normal boundaries of sexuality in that case. He's being--to an almost hyperbolic extreme--confident and rebellious. And since the primary viewers of the tapes (I'm guessing) are male, and we ALL know that women love confidence... well, that's kind of self-explanatory. The guy acts with confidence, asserting that the woman really wants him. He's in control.

2) A lot of times in the scenario, the woman actually "wants it" and just actually claims not to because she isn't "supposed to." This can act as another fantasy for the guy. Since in normal conversation potential partners try and hide their attractions for one another, it's harder to know if she would be interested. In the **** fantasy scenario, the controlling guy isn't just full of confidence; it's reciprocated by the dominated female.

So the guy gets the sense of control and affirmation that emotionally gratifies him, and the woman is actually being fulfilled as well (but by the man, which makes him feel almost heroic). It's not even really ****; the guy is liberating the woman.

Also, sex and naked chick.

I'm not particularly interested in judging it one way or the other--cultural relativism is a *****--that's just kind of how it seems to me.

Yes, this is true. That's because they're more open to the idea of smoking and drinking. In fact, drinking is a very large part of Japanese culture, much like it is with German or Mexican. Also, they don't consider smoking to be a bad habit - it's very widely accepted, and if you tell them it's bad for their health or a bad habit in California, they'll be taken aback. Finally, the "7 year olds" you saw are probably either in high school or of legal age (20) - Japanese just look very young.

Again, after reading your other posts, I'm 100% sure you're over-exaggerating nearly 80% of this stuff. Yes, there is a comic called CoroCoro Comics (I bought one), it's just like Shonen Jump that features manga. If there was a scene with a kid defecating, it was probably done in a humors manner (they find poop really funny, also the word for poop is the same as good luck, so there's a lot of play on words with it). I doubt kids were eating it and getting boners off of it. And no, CoroCoro isn't for kids, it's for all ages. No, again, it is definitely not encouraged in Japan. It's illegal there just like it is here. However, in Japanese culture they find "buriko", which I guess you can sort of think of to mean as "girlish", to be attractive. That's because Japanese comedy is different than American comedy. For example, slapstick is preferable over sarcasm in Japan. Plus I highly doubt you speak the language, so you probably don't get entirely what's going on in the episodes. Yes, it is true that they often do things that we would consider bizarre, but then again, we do things that they think is crazy. For example, a peanut butter and jelly sandwich - unheard of. Eating an apple whole, without cutting it up first and peeling it? I got called "wild" for doing that. And eating a carrot...raw? Whattttt???? That's disgusting! - at least, to the Japanese.

Again, doubt it, you're probably just fibbing because you've heard that there are more gropings in Japan than in America. And yes, it's true, in crowded trains it is very easy to sneak a feel and pretend it's an accident brush, or even to go at it more, if you feel like you won't be caught due to all the people crowded together. However, it's not nearly as common as you might think it's made out to be. Also, you don't stand up in a bullet train, you sit down, so I highly doubt there was anyone being groped then.

Yes, they have a high pressure society that creates interesting outlets. Yes, the have a higher suicide rate than America (Good 'ol US of A still has a higher homicide rate, though). I've seen PSAs in Japan asking people not to commit suicide by jumping into trains because it inconveniences others (No, really). But they have a multitude of colleges and it isn't that hard to get into. It would be like saying its hard to go to Joan Rivers University (compared to MIT).
