Personally I think there’s no way to get better faster than watching your matches over again from an objective view and look at your mistakes and what you’re doing well. Try and recognize your bad habits you need to break. Especially watch your loses and try to figure out why you lost. Ultimate has given us a phenomenal feature with the ability to instantly save every game you play. I just haven’t heard many people talking about this much and I think it’s extremely important. I can guarantee you ever single pro does this

I dont feel like watching myself play. Rather just keep fighting the person i struggle against over and over and over and over until i win more than i lose

This. Damn. Post.

I learned the importance of watching my losses after getting bodied in SFV due to my plateauing skill. I’d only make exceptions with wins when I won a match I really shouldn’t have. This is one of the best ways anyone could teach themselves without need for a mentor; they just need to treat it as a learning experience rather than going on a guilt trip.

This is some next level scrubspeak right here. Don’t come to the forums asking for advice when this is your mindset.

You’re just gonna keep yourself stuck in your bad habits that way. You need to analyze your play in a way you can only do while you’re stepping back and watching yourself. Analyze your mistakes, reads, and habits. If you keep losing to somebody over and over again you’re just gonna get tilted and ingrain more bad habits

Personally I agree with Repstar. I just don't bother with doing that(mainly because I proabaly won't be doing tourneys anytime soon)

And it takes way too much time to watch all of my fights

Note: all of my fights are lvl 7-9 CPU's, if your wondering

I’m just saying if you wanna improve and improve fast it’s esstential and really not that difficult. It also gives you a break when you’re tilting because you never wanna keep playing tilted. That said it’s much more useful against humans than CPUs

Eh, fair enough. Can't agree more on that.

The hell are you talking about, i never if even, barely asked for any advice on this site. Dont tell me what to do either or accuse me of **** when you dont even know me. If u got a problem with how i want to learn to play a game then keep your issue and, keep your mouth shut about me. Otherwise drop your FC so we can play sometime.

Both of you please chill. I just wanted this thread to be a productive discussion about watching your replays not a call out thread and I don’t wanna get it locked

I mean apparently its impossible to , "learn as you go" . everyone has to be a slow learner and watch replays, especially with smash. Theres blurred lines between scrubspeak and stupid ****.

Look I have no problem with how you learn and I’m not the one who called you a scrub. I don’t think that at all. It’s not impossible to learn as you go but you’ll actually learn more slowly with the “learn as you go” model. Watching replays will optimize your play and make you improve faster

Honestly, this is some great advice. When I get destroyed by, say: a Ness spamming PK Fire and dash grabbing me, I try to find a way to avoid it or counter the attack. While I don't record the matches myself, simply watching and remembering my opponent's and my own moves really helps me improve.
Also RepStar RepStar chill.

Yeah that’s definitely a good way to go about it ingame and adapting is super important. I’d recommend saving your matches after you play so you can analyze your habits and if you’re being predictable. It’s always worth it
