Even though Segata Sanshiro isn't a video game character. But don't worry those claims are just "In the moment" type of things. Shantae still has a lot of advantages when it comes to her status as a lead female protagonist.

Also, if you want to play the Fly Swatter minigame from Mario Paint (Which also gives you builder Mario), leave the game idle for 15 minutes. Flies will eventually appear onscreen.

On the topic of Super Mario Maker, all I know is once I get that game and unlock everything, one of my first levels Ievels I'll create will be a recreation of Burning Town from the first Shantae game

...I'd rather have KOSMOS than Shulk. >.> However, she'd be the longest shot in the history of long shots. Xenosaga is technically a dead series since, near as I can tell, it and Xenoblade have little connection aside from "Xeno" in the title. Xenosaga has never been on a proper Nintendo console aside from a "remake" of 1 & 2 for the DS which never made its way out of Japan. Frankly, of all the games that are getting HD remasters lately, I think the Xenosaga trilogy could use one the most.

Even before, Shantae did have a small following already. The main reason Intergrow was localizing Risky's Revenge in Japan was because there was a sudden demand. The recent increase in Japanese interest thanks to Ko's fanart and Inti Create's affiliation with Wayforward also helps.

I can really see Shantae becoming another example of a western franchise being popular in Japan, like Crash Bandicoot back in the PS1 days.

(She's also freaking adorable. How can you honestly hate a cute dancer girl with a long ponytail that beats up pirates?)

I still believe that, while it's great to see Shantae finally get a JPN release, I think it's too little too late in terms of Ballot support with 2 full weeks left to go in the Ballot. If this happened mid ballot then you could potentially see a swing in Shantae's favor but by now the votes have been cast.

I don't want to come off as a debbie downer but let's be real folks, as amazing as this news is, I think Shantae missed her chance to use this in her favor. Not that this means she has no chance for DLC.

True, we don't know exactly how Sakurai will handle the DLC after the Ballot ends. I imagine he will announce the winners, develop them, and then push them out. Long term DLC is out of the question because Sakurai commented a long while back how he can't keep the team around forever, which is why I feel the speculation scene will be over with once the ballot closes and the winners are announced.
