Pokemon is a huge, major series. The games are always hot (as in popular, not always good) and it continues to be. A real-time version of the game would be seriously beyond awesome, best-seller. It would create a lot of hype, but to change the gameplay genre completely would be a disgrace to the series. The gameplay has always been RPG and strategy based, a slowed down pace. Pokemon Snap is probably just one of the few spinoffs that are an exception. Even though I would anticipate games like that, i also do not because it would disrupt how Pokemon was always played. The next gens are highly unlikely to change how the game is played. The next gens will continue for a while, until they run out of colours/metals/rocks to name their games after. Even though the Pokemon will look to be made half-*****, slightly changed reproductives of the original gen, and repetitive storylines, it will always sell. This is because the mass market are not teens and adults who analyze how ugly the Pokemon are, how repetitive the games are, it's little kids who are growing up, worshiping anything cool and animated. That's why in the next gens it will continue to sell and it will always be RPG styled with a few spin-offs once in a while.

Well maybe to target an older audience, they could also release a much more in-depth and developed game, along with whatever Gameboy (yes the DS is a Gameboy, sorry) versions. You do have an entirely valid point though.

^actually the DS is not a gameboy, when they released it , they weren't entirely sure of it, so they didn't add the GB name to it and I'm sure if you asked Regie, he'd say it's not.

This does also lead the way for them to make a new "GameBoy" as well.

Pokemon needs a major overhaul. Let's face it -- only Mario can pull off the same story line over and over, but thats because his game style can change over and over.

Pokemon, however, cannot. The concept was good back in the GBC days, but now? It just won't work. Nintendo needs to come up with something original for Pokemon.

Suggestions? Many of my ideas have already been stated in this thread. An MMO? Yes. One million times yes. Do you understand how amazing that would be? We could actually train on other trainers. Other humans could take the place of soulless NPCs. The games could actually be hard for a change because real people would be playing them.

Not to say that there could be a stand alone single player game, but that would need a new and better story. How about an evil pokemon this time? How about Mewtwo isn't some knockover? How about that wild pokemon can attack the trainer, and the trainer will have a stamina meter?

All these could influence Pokemon in a new, and a much better direction.

Yes, this is true only Mario can do it.

Nintendo doesn't care about us, as in kids old enough to understand that Pokemon is getting less original and more repetitive. They don't care if we want a real-time game, better looking Pokemon, or some excitement. Companies only care about MONEY and money only. And the majority of the money, Nintendo understand comes from younger kids, ones who don't understand true fun, and play for the pictures and cool special effects. That's why Nintendo won't make any new **** for us.

You forget one thing -- Smash Brothers. This game was entirely a fan service. It was originally intended to not even be related to any of the characters we know and love.

However, Nintendo pays attention to us sometimes. Not very often, but still sometimes.

It's a Gameboy to me. Hell, half of it is a Gameboy Advance. I don't care what Regie says, it's a Gameboy to me. And no, the Wii is not a Gamecube. Illogical? Perhaps, but I don't care.

Ive discussed this with my friends before. This would certainly be the most amazing thing ever.

i'd say all 4 current zones (Orre doesnt count) would be used, theyre big enough.

All Pokemon could be captured. (Except legendaries, they would be the Warlocks of Poke-RPG if they were catchable...)

THis would be AMAZING.

I say we, of the Pokecenter petition to Nintendo to make something this great, SOMEONE would want to make it...
Are you trying to say you would journey all four countrys? Would you have to journey with new pokemon each time like the anime? If you dont then they would have to raise the max lvl of 100 thing to about 250-300 (that would be way to high so I would rather start with new pokemon and once you beat the league you can import your old ones). I just realised in the anime (when i used to watch) pikachu has journeyed 4 regions and has beat multiple gym leaders that are strong, but he somehow always has trouble with the first gym leaders of the next gen. Does pikachus lvl reset:p?

If you were to progress through all four of the continents then two things would have to be done:

1) Level-up is slower
2) You choose from either one of twelve pokemon at the beginning or one of three at the start of each region.

I still say that the best change for Pokemon would be an MMO.

Half of the DS may be Gameboy, but I call my Wii the Gamecube Turbo. It is a term of endearment, shut up.

---

ANYWAY, Pokemon+ MMORPG = :chuckle:
Uh... "shut up"? Way to establish your character on these boards. I'll remember that.

It's still a Gameboy.

Yeah, that was really unnecessary...

And I agree. The DS is a GameBoy. It's a Nintendo Handheld. You can't have it be the Gameboy from the Pocket, to the Color, to the Advance, to the SP, to the micro...and then say "Yay innovation! No more GameBoy!"

Consoles are a different story...NES, SNES, N64, Gamecube, Wii...none of them are related at all, save for NES and SNES. Do you intend to call the N64 the Super Super Nintendo? The Gamecube the Super Super Super Nintendo? The Wii the Super Super Super Super Nintendo? Didn't think so.

Nintendo DS = GameBoy DS
Wii = Wii

Obviously, Dialga has been messing with time. Somehow, Ash can beat every gym, no matter how strong, but has loads of trouble defeating dawn. Apparently, the level up scale in that game is messed up(And Pikachu owns all) for reality has been twisted to a certain extent to where it is broken in the anime. Go Pikachu! Volt Tackle! OH! Mewtwo goes down! Volt Tackle again! Watch out! Piplup countered it! Next thing you know, pikachu is taking down Golem woth thunderbolt and jhaving trouble with magikarp.

I wouldn't mind being able to play an RPG, based on Ash Ketchum's adventures. That would involve Kanto, the Orange Islands, Johto, Hoenn, Sinnoh, and god knows what else. Maybe the only way you can be a TRUE pokemon master is by defeating each region's pokemon league tournament, then fighting each region's Elite Four, and then each region's own Champion?

This has actually happened in one episode. Pikachu is nearly (or is) beaten by a Magikarp or Feebas. It's pretty stupid really.

If there was a dashing system required for dodging atacks, Then Im in.
For flying pokemon, Say they have more jumps then a normal pokemon.

Example:
Shuckle: No jumps
Zangoose: 1 Jump
Starmie: 2 jumps
Blaziken: 3 jumps
Pigeot: 5 jumps

Then there would be moves that make you go higher, like fly, sky uppercut, or waterfall.
