Table of Contents:
1. Reasons why to play Fox!
2. Fox Overview
3.Ground Attacks
4.Grabs
5.Air Moves
6.Specials
7. Fox Strategies

Pros and Cons:

Pros:

1.You like a challenge
2. You like Speed
3. You like to shine
4. You like to levitate using shine
5. You like Guns
6. You like to use combos
7. You like to spike every once and a while.
8. You like being possibly High/Top Tier

Cons:

1. Is in the light weight class
2. Recoveries can come of short at times
3. Can self-destruct if not careful
4. Not longest attack range

Fox Overview:

Fox is back, and although he isn't as good as he was in Melee, he is still a top level contender great combo game, fast, and has great finishers with a decent projectile.Fox’s strategy relies on aggression, comboing the opponent and finishing them off with a quick Up or Forward Smash at higher percents.

Power- 3.5/5
Fox is very strong for his size and speed. He has many KO moves and all are nearly lagless.

Speed- 5/5
LOL, yup Fox gets a 5/5 because he is the second fastest character in Brawl besides Sonic.

Weight- 2/5
Yes this is the only downside to Fox, his light weight makes him an easy KO at lower percentages. But overall not the biggest inconvinience since he is fast enough to escape most attacks anyway.

Recovery- 4/5
I'm almost positive that the range was reduced, but its still effective. Also with the Firefox Curving Technique you can recover from under certain stages.

Combos- 5/5
Fox is one of the best comboers next to Marth. End of Story.

Ground Attacks

A, A, A
Damage: 2, 2, + (4+ Total)
Knockback: Very Low
Fox's standard attack on the ground is used to get quick damage, an easy damage of 15%.

Tilt Forward A
Damage: 6
Knockback: Low
A good move because of its speed and range. Pressure the opponent by using Forward A outside their shield throw range, and when they drop their shields, hit them with a powerful smash attack.

Tilt Down A
Damage: 9
Knockback: Moderately Low
This move is a good move to use when you want to get a little bit of space, but overall Forward tilt is a better option at most percents.

Tilt Up A
Damage: 10
Knockback: Low
This is one of the best combo attacks in the game. You can string a few of these together and consistently land one from a Down air. You’ll rely on Up A in your battles, for sure.

Dash Attack
Damage: 7
Knockback: Low
This move leads into Up tilts at most percents, and can combo into a lot of moves overall. Again, be careful not to be predictable with your dash attacks, or it can be punished easily.

Forward Smash
Damage: 15
Knockback: Moderately High
This is a really quick Smash attack that sets up for some edgeguarding, and can kill at pretty decent percents. The greatest thing about this move is how quick it is.

Up Smash
Damage: 17
Knockback: High
Fox's strongest Smash attack -- the most used move of any of his moves at the lowest percent. It is very quick, and can be done out of a dash. Work on landing these.

Down Smash
Damage: 14
Knockback: Moderately High
This is another one of Fox's quick Smash attacks. This one sets up for edgeguarding better than the other two, because it hardly has any vertical knockback. The Down Smash sends them off on a very low trajectory.

Grabs:

Down Throw
Damage: 9
Knockback: Low
The Down Throw no longer sets the opponent on the ground where they can either tech or not tech. Instead, it does minimal knockback in front of you, which is less useful.

Up Throw
Damage: 8
Knockback: Low
This throw in Super Smash Bros. Melee was the standard direction for Foxes to throw. You used to be able to combo out of it regardless of DI. Now you cannot combo out of it, regardless of DI.

Forward Throw
Damage: 7
Knockback: Low
This should be used to get the opponent off the edge when they’re near edges. The knockback is low, so you'll pretty much never kill with this (unless they somehow get to ridiculous percents) but it’s useful to setup for edgeguards.

Back Throw
Damage: 8
Knockback: Low
Same as the above, this throw should be used to setup for edgeguards. It does more knockback and damage than the forward throw, but has a more upward angle, so the edgeguard is easily avoidable.

Air Moves

Neutral A
Damage: 9
Knockback: Low
Neutral A wont’ kill the opponent midstage as it did in Melee, but it still has similar uses. It has great approach, has great priority, and has good combo potential. You'll use this move often. It also auto cancels so you can directly link it with a ground move with no lag.

Forward A
Damage: 23
Knockback: Moderate
This move is massively improved from the nearly useless version in Melee. This time, all the hits land almost every time and it does a massive 23%, a huge amount for an aerial attack. This move can be a combo finisher and can also KO at higher percents. Learn to love the Forward A.

Back A
Damage: 15
Knockback: Moderately High
This move is more difficult to land than it was in Melee, but it is still a very effective move. It can kill at reasonable percents and, if you miss the sweetspot, you can use it in combos similarly to how you use Fox’s back air. Overall, this move is a great way to edgeguard as well.

Up A
Damage: 16
Knockback: Moderately High
Fox's dreaded up air returns slightly less powerful, but still a very good kill move. It is fast, can be quite unexpected, kills, and can combo at low percents. A great move.

Down A
Damage: 21
Knockback: Very Low
Down A, a high priority move with minimal lag, will be your most used air attack and likely approach. It combos into everything -- Down B, Up Smashes, Up tilts, jabs. Hell, you could combo Down A into Down air if you knock them off a platform. And, because it is multihit, powersheilds don’t affect it. You'll use Down A over and over and over again, regardless of the percent of your opponent.

Specials

Blaster
Standard B
Damage: 3
Knockback: n/a
The lasers don't stun, but they are great at forcing the opponent to approach you. Try using them in the air to mix it up, which lessens the lag associated with lasers performed on the ground.

Fox Illusion
Forward B
Damage: 4
Knockback: Very Low
Fox Illusion should not be used as a way of approaching your opponent. It’s best used in recovery, and coming back on the stage from the ledge to mix things up. Throw it in every so often if you think you'll catch them with the end of it to combo into an Up tilt, but do not spam this. It is easily punishable. Overall, it is a great alternate recovery option. It is much harder to intercept in Brawl than it was in Melee.

Reflector
Down B
Damage: 5
Knockback: Very LowThe shine. The Reflector is hideous compared to the Melee version, but it is still a good move. You can shine spikes with it, though it is less effective on most characters. It is a good way to give yourself some room. You can also reflect projectiles with it -- who knew, right?

Fire Fox
Up B
Damage: 8
Knockback: LowThis is another move you should never do as an approach. Don't just fly around the stage using Up B over and over; it is very predictable and easily punished. The Fire Fox is your standard recovery, but be careful how you use it, because edgeguarders can easily intercept it.

Fox Strategies:

Recovery:
Fox has very good recoveries. The key is timing them right and know which one to use when. The Fox Illusion should be Fox's main horizontal recovery because it is hard to edgeguard if timed correctly. If you end up need a vertical recovery try to use the shine a couple times to throw off your oponent then use the Firefox and get back to braling.

Edgeguarding:
There are several ways to edge guard with Fox. The first way tp edgeguard is to jump of the stage and spike your oponent with a dair. Secondly you can spam your shine to continually keep them off the stage, using you dsmash also help. If your going for the KO charge your Fsmash and release at the right moment for the KO.

Combos:

Theres a couple combos out there like the M2k Combo but that only works on crappy oponents, but none the less it can be effective. If you haven't seen it here's a link http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KIYn3TtRr_w. The main think is keeping your oponent in the air, and using your grabs to set up your oponents for a spike.

Shield-grabbing:

This is a simple technique where you sheild using L,R, or Z, then quickly come out of hit and grab. This is a very good combo starter.

Short-Hopping:

Another simple technique, you just quickly tap the X or Y button, this can also be useful for stage canceling. (When you jump and land laglessly on the platform)

Dash- Canceling:

When you begin your dash simply press the crouch button to cancel it. This is good for mindgames and works as a great fake-out.

Dash-Dancing:

Rapidly dash back and forth there (is the possibility of tripping). But when done correctly you can jet into the direction of your choice.

Fox-Trotting:

Quickly move the control stick to the side of your choice, then you will begin running at dash speeds, but you cannot trip.

Short Hop Laser:

Just a short hop and shoot your gun and when you land it reduces the lag of next couple attacks.

Jump Shine:
By Timmy
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uNawxTzTWVY
Decreases the lag that happens on the ground when you use shine, also can be used to cancel dash.

It's a great start, and I hope it evolves into a guide that will rival Cunningkitsune's Melee Fox guide.

If you don't mind me asking, how do you get that small icon of your main character under your username?

Pros:

1.You Like Winning
2. You Like Speed
3. You like to shine
4. You like to levitate using shine
5. You like Guns
6. You like cute little furry space animals
7. You like to use combos
8. You like using grabs
9. You like to spike every once and a while.
10. You being High/Top Tier

^--------- I find this the only annoying part of ur guide.

1.Most people dont like the idea of playing fox only becuase you want to win. That and his potential hasn't really been unlocked.

6. Don't think people play fox if he was "cute little furry space animal".

10. And fox is certainly not High/Top tier yet, nor do we have any idea of anyone's tier placement.

I am prolly only speaking for myself, but other then the Pro's the guide is really nice. Good to know damage and other tid bits on all of fox's attacks.

Good work :D!

I thought this guide was about Fox, not Wolf...

EDIT: Is this like an April Fool's Joke or somethings?

W O L F should be F O X

K I T T Y should be W O L F

yes please mods can we get this stickied? Ya good job Illusionary the guide looks good and it looks like you play sheik as well as fox; I'm assuming you prefer a fast style, although I would have to argue with you saying fox is the fastest in the game. Sonic is by far the fastest, I would use Sonic if it wasn't so hard to killl with him, and sheik might be as fast if not faster than fox as well. the only thing i would recommend for you to fix are your pros, other than that it looks great and I hope you are going to add to it.

Nice guide. One think I think you should add under the Neutral Air description is that it auto cancels so you can directly link it with a ground move with no lag.

Click your avatar and go to your character profile and go down until you reach the tab with all the character names.
I clicked my avatar, and I was sent to my profile, but I can't figure out how to get to my character profile. Can you explain it with a bit more detail?

Sorry for cluttering your topic with my ignorance.

Do more work on the Firefox. If all the hits land, it can do nearly 24 damage, and it's harder to escape from the flames in Brawl. It also destroys shields.

And another thing, I don't think you're allowed to bump threads on Smashboards.

Fox doesn't really need a guide, just Fair air.

Jk, grats on making your first guide :)

Oh, don't be surpised if CunningKitsune comes along with a new one :p

I'm praying for CunningKitsune to write a new one, but I haven't heard from him about it, or even seen him post here.

Yeah, I practically live with CunningKitsune so I can tell you what's up.

He's been extremely busy with school work and exams, so he hasn't even had the time to touch Brawl much. He also doesn't want to rush on getting a guide up. Like before, he wants to first fully understand the character at it's current metagame, something I think Illussionary kinda avoided. He just told me on aim "if I'm gonna do it, I'm gonna do it d@mn well".
I say in a few months his guide would be up :p
Heh, my Fox>his Fox, at least as of now.

As long as he's not like the majority and completely abandon Fox, he can take as long as he wants. I wasn't expecting it to be up, like, soon at all; a guide like that SHOULD have taken a long time. As long as I know what's up, I'm cool.

I also anxiously look forward to reading the immense guide that CunningKitsune will create in the future. This guide is a good start and alternate in the meantime, though.

It's alright. More of a how to play guide really... but that's expected since it's new. Shuld develop over time pretty well like those pwnage guides on Snake and Poke Trainer forums. Good job though.:bee:

Sorry but I don't plan to, this guide is good for newbies with some slightly advanced techniques. But I really don't have the time and it'd be a waist because as soon as Cunningkitsune makes one this guide will be squashed.

First off, a good guide until an amazing one come around like you said.

2 comments however to help make your guide more accurate (while i didn't read most of the real content yet)
1) You gave fox a 5/5 on speed saying he's the 2nd fastest character in brawl outside of Sonic. You're basing fox's speed entirely on his running speed. When you compare fox's moves comeout times, lag times, overall aerial mobility, you'll realize that Fox is actually the fastest character in the game.
2) You gave fox a 5/5 on Combos saying he's one of the best outside of Marth. Marth sucks at comboing and only really has his side-b (which hardly counts). You could say that fox is really good outside of Snake and ICs at comboing, still giving him a 5/5.
