2:00 Tournament Starts

Note: (There will be a 5$ late fee for anyone that is late so show up ON TIME!)

(((Rules)))
General (apply to all events unless otherwise noted):

* Stage Striking: Players eliminate stages from the Starter Stage List until only 1 remains, and the players then play the first match on that stage. Players strike stages in 1 2 2 1 order. The higher slot strike first.
* Items are set to off.
* Timed out matches will be determined by the remaining number of lives, then percentage of the current stock. In the event of a percentage tie, replay that match. Any Sudden Death match is strictly not to be played.
*One ban per player per set. To be chosen after loss.
* The loser of the first match will announce a new stage to play on for the next game. The winner will then be allowed to switch characters, followed by the loser. Apply the same logic for the third match (and fourth/fifth when applicable) if there is one. (Advanced Slob Picks)
*You cannot go back to the last stage you won in a set, unless agreed upon by the other player. (Modified Dave's Stupid Rule)
* Blind Picks: the first character selection of a set must be without prior knowledge of the opponent's character selection for both players, same for doubles.
* For doubles: Team Attack will be ON, life stealing allowed.
* Wobbling is banned.
* There will be no ties in any tournament. Anyone refusing to play any Match (including the finals) will be disqualified and forfeit all rights to any titles or prizes they might have otherwise earned for that tournament.
* Collusion of any kind with your competitors is considered cheating. If the Tournament Director determines that any competitor is colluding to manipulate the results or intentionally under performing, the collaborating players may be immediately disqualified. This determination is to be made at the sole discretion of the Tournament Director. Anyone disqualified in this manner forfeits all rights to any titles or prizes they might have otherwise earned for that tournament.
* Late Arrival Rule - If you want to enter after registration closes, you will have to pay $5 more for venue fee. NO EXCEPTION!
*Wobbling banned again for fun

Brackets:

* Bracket matches are best 2 of 3, 4 stock.
* 8 minute time limit.
* Winners' bracket finals, losers' bracket finals, and championship sets are all best 3 of 5.

Yoshi's Story
Dreamland 64
Battlefield
Fountain of Dreams (1v1 only)

*Counterpicks 1v1:

5 min late: a warning
10 min late: loss of a match

See everyone there. Lets GO!

Last turnout had 13 Registered Players. Lets see if we could break 20+ players this time. Bigger venue calls for a bigger turnout...

Ps: I would like to do teams this time. Maybe Roy R/Lee Martin Vs Sideffect/Jake 13. Possibility Maybe?

I plan to come again and bring a full setup. TYS melee turnout has been (modestly) increasing. Let's keep the trend going!

Side Effect is outdated and no longer a threat to us. Jake13 vs Ronnie would be terrible.

Roy_R lost to a random n00b in tournament. Fighting Lee Martin would just be even worse since he also mains Sheik.

Rayzorium is back but he's still kind of rusty we just need to get that off of him. He did beat Jake13 at the last tournament. I want to see Rayzorium vs Lee Martin. That's where it'll really be at. 2 Veterans fighting each other.

I'd play Lee for whatever, same with Rayz. I'm pretty liberal with my money >.> Thing is, I most likely won't be able to make it to this because it's during Austin City Limits weekend.

I might go >.> I'll have to see if the Saturday lineup for ACL has anything I'm looking forward to. I'm starting to more and more want to come to this and play Lee Martin. If I don't go though, feel free... if there even is teams.

A $10 venue is ridiculous for this venue. The fee has risen from $5 to $7 and now to $10, but the venue really hasn't changed. In fact, the little change that did occur didn't make it any better. So why are we paying more?

Venue fee was never 5$. It has always been 7$ since we been at funplex. 2nd: Anytime I use that room the venue fee has to be 10$ because of the space. That room can hold 400+ people. We are paying more for the room and space. If it was like the other rooms that we use all the time then it would be 7$. This is a 1 time event because projectors and other stuff will be at use. 3$ is not a huge deal considering you save 5$/Week/1$/Day and manage your finances right, it should be no problem and again its a 1 time event cause I wont be using this room till Cali Vs Texas 2 which is either Feb Or Apr. After this event it will go back to 7$ and we will be using the same room we have been in...

I'll see what I can do... this is becoming very tempting. Then again, ACL is ACL. So... we'll see. Lemme go check the band lineup for Saturday. **** Muse is playing Saturday. I'm now like 90% not making this :/

Much brawl stuff does work in melee but you gotta learn a lot of melee-specific stuff to be any good at melee.

Wow trash talking about melee again? Xyro if you really think that we would play a game to make money off of it you are an epic fail "rofl", some of us actually smart enough to find better ways to do it and in our spare time play something thats actually worth playing.

If I wanted to make money off of a game, I'd play an FPS, or SSFIV... Actually, I probably will be getting into SSFIV eventually :p

I simply stated that royr(who works btw, lol) only plays brawl cause there is no money or fun left in melee. He would be very bored cause he would beat all of you every day and every time(assuming he never touched brawl) and not earn anything from it because next to nobody enters melee AND he wouldnt get better cause all the current GOOD people(jake/mouf/sideffect) are not as good as they used to be. So it would be a lose-lose situation for him.

So he moves on to brawl where people are better than him(aka gives him a challenge) and he can make lots of money(look at his record). He can meet more people and still hang out with his old pals(me/sethlon/furbs....ect). Your baseless claims of brawl this and brawl that are all false and ********. Become educated in both games and then we can debate(assuming you are capable of it).

Stop feeding the troll.

People prefer to play Brawl, and people prefer to play Melee. Apparently we'll never understand each other so let's agree to disagree. The only exceptions to this are the few people that play both concurrently. If you don't, then you have no authority to argue over the qualities from one game to the other.

It's obvious that Xyro is unable to appreciate those of us that enjoy playing Melee more than Brawl, so let him stay in his ignorance concerning the fun in Melee and we'll stay ignorant as to why people play Brawl. If everyone simply stopped taking his bait then he'd probably get bored of trolling us -_-.

I can appreciate both games. I just happen to enjoy Melee much more. I think Jake is better now than he used to be. Also, I would love to play Roy_R in top form again. He's now 0-3 against me in tournament. :p I still remember the first time we played (when Roy_R was in top shape)... TGM here advanced Roy_R in the bracket before we even played... then I won lol. TGM was like "...what?" and had to go back and fix the bracket lol

I have nothing against TGM or Roy, I just wish Roy would play both, and I wish TGM would stop bashing us.

Feeding trolls ftl.

.....? I think you missed the point, im not going to debate whether melee or brawl is better because melee already won that argument. I don't need to be "educated" in a game that clearly is not anywhere near the level of competitiveness that melee is. PLUS who would want to meet brawlers when i can assume most act like you? I think its pretty sad that you have to go to our thread and defend Roy_r (lol?). You and your horrible game disgust me. :lick:

For God's sake people! Instead of boosting your post count for absolutely no reason, go to the Houston thread. Either one, it doesn't really matter. Especially you, Luciano. You're just making an *** of yourself and sounding like a prick. As much as I like hating on Brawl, there's really no point in a) doing it here, and b) arguing with Xyro. He knows his stuff, just like we know ours. Just leave it alone.

Now, so that I'm not being a hypocrite. I was wondering that, since this is the year anniversary, is anything special going down to commemorate it, or did I just miss something.

EDIT: I'm not rescinding what I said until you learn how to spell my name, Luciano! Also, I'm saying these things because I know that you are educated and that you shouldn't have to stoop to the level that you've stooped to.

TSC Brawl is definitely on the same level of competitiveness as Melee. Xyro is going to tear/troll you apart for that one. Just because Melee superficially seems like it is a much more difficult game to play doesn't mean that it is more competitive than Brawl.

Stop feeding the troll!!

Wow Dereck dont talk to me like that, dont call me an *** u ***. oh and to your #)no. Smashboards died a long time ago, might as well raise that post count.

I feed trolls then eat them for breakfast. Oh Im sorry about the competitive thing, i guess next time i go to a tournament il go MM someone to a "flip a coin match", il always call heads cuz i can flip that coin at just the right velocity at just the right height :bee: sounds competitive to me.

Calling one game more competitive than the other is 100% opinion. You cannot even define what you are talking about. You assuming brawlers are like me is also baseless and quite moronic. They are of the SAME type/scope of players melee has(highschool-college age kids wanting to compete/make friends...ect). You wouldn't know that because you are very uneducated(as proven by 99% of your posts) and do not attend many events(as seen in the results). The ones you DO attend you clearly cannot recognize differences and/or similarities or just choose not to(which may be worse).

PS: I defend royr because his name will get bad rep attached to it because of people like you.

Just the fact you called me "uneducated" makes me laugh. Proves that you know nothing about me and that your comments are also "opinions" (even though mine weren't ;). Roy_r isn't really part of the argument, he is a cool guy, i just simply stated that Brawl brought his melee game waaaaaaay down low. What does me attending many events have to do with anything?.....changing the subject, typical Brawler :ohwell:
