The Texas e-Sports Association (TeSPA) is hosting an amazing Starcraft II event on March 17-18 on the University of Texas campus, but they are also running fighting game tournaments all weekend along with it too!
Facebook event: https://www.facebook.com/events/172829886163725/
TeamLiquid thread: http://www.teamliquid.net/forum/viewmessage.php?topic_id=312816

Venue:
UT Student Activities Center (The Black Box Theater)

Parking:
A discount rate will be available for the weekend in San Jacinto Garage. There is very limited free parking in and around campus.

San Jacinto Garage
2401 San Jacinto Boulevard
Austin, TX 78712

**Enter the parking garage and take a ticket as normal. At the venue you can purchase a parking voucher from us that costs $5 per day. This is a huge discount from the ~$20 per day that is normally charged, so don't be discouraged when you enter the garage and see those prices posted.

Events:
- Ultimate Marvel vs Capcom 3 (Saturday, March 17) (Xbox)
- Super Street Fighter 4 Arcade Edition 2012 (Saturday, March 17) (Xbox)
- Soul Calibur 5 (Sunday, March 18) (PS3)
- Super Smash Brothers Brawl (Sunday, March 18) (Wii)

Schedule:
10am - Venue opens
12:30pm - Registration ends
1:00pm - Tournaments begin

Registration:
You may register ahead of time online (although not required). If you register online, the venue is $8 and will grant you access to the entire event for both days (including the Starcraft tournament). Venue fee is $10 at the door. PLEASE REGISTER ONLINE IF POSSIBLE!
Each tournament will be $10 to enter and all of this will go towards the pot.
If you bring a FULL SETUP (TV/monitor + system + game) for the entire day, you will get a venue fee discount and only need to pay $5. Online registration is REQUIRED to get this discount.
Registration form: http://studentorgs.utexas.edu/tespa/fighting.html

Prize Payout:
1st place - 60%
2nd place - 30%
3rd place - 10%

Rules:
Bring your own controllers/sticks for all games!

Brawl singles
3 Stocks
8 Minute Time Limit
Items set to "Off" and "None"
Pause set to "Off"
All infinites and chain grabs are legal.
There is a 50 Ledge Grab Limit for all characters. If a game goes to time and one player goes over the Ledge Grab Limit for their character, they will automatically lose the game. If both players exceed their Ledge Grab Limit, then this rule is ignored.
The act of stalling is banned: stalling is intentionally making the game unplayable: Such as becoming invisible, continuing infinites, chain grabs, or uninterruptible moves past 300%, and reaching a position that your opponent can never reach you.
Any action that can prevent the game from continuing (i.e., freezing, disappearing characters, game reset, etc.) will result in a forfeit of that match for the player that initiated the action. You are responsible for knowing your own character, and must be wary about accidentally triggering one of these effects.
If the Ledge Grab Limit does not declare one player the winner, the winner will be declared by what the game says in all situations, except for when players are presented with sudden death:
In the event of a match going to time, the winner will be determined by who has less percent (stock difference still takes priority but will be shown in the results screen).
If the match ends with both players dying at the same time (either coincidentally or via suicide move) or if time ran out with both players at equal percent, a one stock three minute rematch will be played on the same stage. For a tie-breaker match, a Ledge Grab Limit of 18 is used for all characters.

I'm still deciding... I guess I can head back Saturday night or Sunday morning so I can participate in this, rather than Sunday night or Monday morning like I normally would. Glad to find out it's Sunday though.

hey hey hey, don't be all negative people. it's a really nice venue and there will other game stations for free play. we'll likely have plenty of new players from ooc that are more into sc2 than brawl, so it will not be completely desolate. thanks mike, if you will bring a setup! it will be great help. if you need any help with directions and stuff, just let me know!

Someone defend our city vs. Denti! I won't be able to make it back in time to register... Mooco is our only line of defense. WTF Austin :( I hope the Blood God returns from the depths of Marvel.
